I have seen most of you carry a different signature banner on your profile. I know that you get paid for the advertisements that you distribute throughout the forum space because of the signature you use. Only a small proportion of you may not be paid anything from the signatures you use.

The last few days I've learned a lot and noticed how people keep posting ideas, answering questions, sharing knowledge, and so on. What is your goal in posting ? Would someone be guilty of posting just to get paid ?

Sorry if this is a silly question from a beginner.

Good question but if you did look all over the forum you should have seen that we have different categorize of campaigns. Before answering that I would like to say...

What is the purpose of your life? the life that leaves in a society where we need money to eat and pay for our bills.

As well as the commercials, you watch while you entertain yourself on youtube or television they also have a purpose that is the same as doing campaigns posting stuff on different forums.

As same as a society people have different roles and this Forum has a purpose with users that have different roles.

Many people don't just join the signature campaign they do other stuff to work on, that earns them back money and the banner under our post is an advertisement where there are different platforms and that platforms are

example of:
  • Trading
  • Faucets
  • e-sports
  • Gambling

many more...

The purpose of our post is to spread our ideas and if you working on a signature campaign ( given examples above) people who have other interests in the signature you have under your post will possibly click on it because they are interested to see what is it about. an easy way to understand it that you are an advertiser while giving an answer and spreading your knowledge on different forums.

If you are working for a company and contributing good and being paid for that, will you be guilty of being contributing good while the company is paying you?

Will you be guilty of not disobeying the company rules and receiving payment?

So far you have service to render and being paid for the service will not bring you guilt but happiness.

What is your goal in posting ?
I find it rather amusing that you ask the purpose of posting on a discussion forum, the goal of posting should be to discuss and by extension to contribute to discussions in the best way possible or to the best of your knowledge, signature campaigns somewhat makes posting more frequent for quite a lot of people, I'm very sure most of us users wouldn't post the many we do if we weren't on a signature campaign, but what you must understand is that to contribute to discussions is what's most important and signature campaigns gives you pocket money for posts that you'll prolly have made even without it, cause mind you that even before you're qualified to join a (good) campaign, you must have been posting, not just posting, but making HQ posts.
Would someone be guilty of posting just to get paid
Quite a lot of users do so, but who can tell the difference unless you're spamming the forum with LQ posts, if you make decent and quality posts, contributing to discussions in the forum, sharing from your repertoire of knowledge and helping newbies, then you're already a positive to the forum, even if deep down you're only doing that to earn, no one cares/can notice it.

Let me be honest with you. Signature campaign should be a partial benefit only but most of the users are posting here only to get paid. In my case, I would not probably be posting more than 10-15 a week without signature. I mean I'm trying to gain knowledge on crypto and that’s why I post on different issues. If there was no signature, I would still post that.
But when I'm in a signature, there is minimum posts requirement and sometime, I have to post a little higher than usual.

Sorry if this is a silly question from a beginner.
Indeed a silly question but you are not a beginner for sure. You are another alt who pretend to be newbie but not newbie at all.

There's no doubt that there are a lot of people that post here solely to be paid. And while it sucks as the lack of quality on their posts is mostly very obvious, I mostly can't blame them either as a lot of them live in poor countries.

As for me personally, I post because I'm heavily interested in Bitcoin, and with investing in general. Do I like getting paid? Hell yea I do, I really won't lie about that. But if I was to not get paid for posting, while I'd still post and read here daily, I would obviously be posting a lot less because I would have to allocate more time to doing stuff that could earn me income. Because let's be honest here, who doesn't need money?

With that said, Bitcointalk and ChipMixer has been a total godsend for me. Not only I get to spend time doing what I love(talking about Bitcoin and investing), I also get paid for it!

What people can get in the time they be here and by their posts are not from the forum budget. Bounties, campaigns are from companies outside the forum. It is the big forum for crypto companies so they join here, advertise and run their campaigns here.

You can get money if you are good poster, make good posts and be qualifiable for good campaigns. Have payments and post cap can make you feel pressure if you are busy in a week. In normal weeks, makes 4 or 5 posts a day (good quality) is not a pressure. I know one member left a good campaign when he felt pressure from post cap. After he left that campaign, he still makes posts.

The end of an era for me: Leaving Signature Campaign

It's for the monetary gains of course! However, even though I am after for the rewards I still make sure that 90% of my post can quite give an impact to those people who seeks help from various aspects of cryptocurrency in general. I am always reminding myself that if there is an existing thread that you do not have something important or conducive to say -- then at least read and leave the thread instead of posting nonsensical content. In such manner, you are avoiding to feel guilt, thus, you are simply contributing to the forum passively by decreasing rubbish content while increasing constructive and well written post. Win - win situation.

Moreover, I have lots of questions to ask in the community so it's also one of the reason why I am posting on a daily basis.

I have gone through different transition on the forum. So I guess I'm in one of the best position to answer you question. There's was a time in my stay on the forum I only posted to get merited, I passed that phase then the posting to get paid became the next problem I had to face. I call it a problem because it drained alot out of me. If you have been following my posting style you'll notice my qualify changed totally at some point as all I could think about is meeting my post qouta not minding the quality I delivered but thankfully all that have changed.

You begin to enjoy the forum less when all you're concerned about is getting paid for your post. You miss the informative and interesting discussion ongoing on the forum. I'm in a signature campaign currently but that doesn't mean if I wasn't hired I won't be contributing to discussion on the forum.

If you're used to reading certain users post, the moment they start posting just to get paid you'll notice as their posting won't have that captivating vibe that makes you want to read and understand what the user is trying to say. I think what give more the motivation to post is because I want to add, as well gain additional knowledge.

What is your goal in posting ?
I find it rather amusing that you ask the purpose of posting on a discussion forum
Lol, this is a very funny way to start and of a truth, its amusing. if the quality of replies is good or solves a problem, isn't it worth the effort? The forum is a well moderated one and as such, users can be reported for various reasons with regards to their posts or replies and have it deleted. if you view campaigns and posts as a means to earning and as such, users just post to meet up requirement then I'll tell you these, there is a major labour instrument called MOTIVATION.

That's the purpose merits and the few cents from campaigns does. besides, if it were to be just posting, then you'll find many users creating more and more threads like you do @OP. Its not obvious you only create threads so far and not even discuss them despite replies you get. its as though your completely okay with every ideas presented to you. That's by far a hard way to discuss, its like creating threads just to stay active. The drive to learn makes you read and the need to discuss your conceived idea breaths forth the post.

Posters will never feel guilty especially if they contribute a good quality post which can help other member to know things as well if they are giving a quality discussion to others.

Also if the post is not good nor out of the topic it will be reported by the users and it will be deleted by the mods so  posting nonsense and doing it on the purpose of reaching the quota will be a total of waste of time and effort for them.

For now my goal for posting is to rank up that's why I do my best to earn some merits here.

Some people are making posts for the sake of the merit which is really not a good thing to prioritize and focused on. Newbies are so eager to have a lot of merits without even doing the proper thing to get them. I mostly posted stuffs here because I want other people to know what I've learned or what I've read in a certain article related to cryptocurrencies and other things. It is really hard to educate other people towards cryptocurrency and blockchain technology they will not understand or appreciate the real purpose of this forum.

I don't find your question silly at all. I think that is indeed a good one. And yes, there are really tendencies that some members of a signature campaign just post for the sake of getting paid. Maybe it's because they lack the knowledge about the topic, or because of the construction of their post which makes them look like not putting enough effort. I don't really know. There could be other reasons, or the only reason is they just want to earn.

I have to admit, being part of a different campaign before, there are times when I post just to meet the quota. But that's because I'm also occupied with my work and I don't want to give up my campaign because it's hard to get into one. However, disregarding the hectic schedule and talking about the forum and campaign alone, my goal is to share what I know, share my viewpoint, and learn other things as well. I have been part of several campaigns already and I'm thankful for all of them.

As time goes by, I realize some things. And one of them is this:
They're paying us for advertising them. We just sit and type, and our capital is our knowledge. We don't really have to shed sweat, blood, and tears to do that so the least we could do is post with a good quality at least. This is just on my end, though. Smiley

Signature campaigns certainly affect a user's posting. More precisely, they affect the number of posts submitted on a daily or weekly basis. Someone conducted research on the topic a while ago and found out that members post more when they are in a signature campaign compared to when they are not. That is not really shocking and the results were expected. When you are paid to advertise a campaign, you feel a certain obligation to do so in a professional manner, and you try to put some extra thought into your posts. Problems arise when it is obvious that someone only posts to meet the minimum quota and cares about nothing else.

This is a place where you can read and talk about your passion of bitcoin. Getting paid while doing that, is just an added benefit. That right needs to be earned and shouldn't be abused.

Before I joined the bitcointalk forum, I had no idea what bitcoin is, how blockchain works, didn't care about privacy and anonymity, didn't even know what money is, how the banking system works, and why it is important to learn history and economics. Luckily, I found this forum full of people smarter than me, experienced users capable of explaining complicated things in layman's terms. The purpose of my posts has always been the same, namely to ask questions and learn, learn, learn. By participating in discussions, I learned a lot and became more competent in some questions but haven't stopped to ask my questions and share my thoughts based on learned aspects.

I, too, can understand the surprise of newbies asking a question about something and getting a lot of the same answers.
Perhaps this will surprise many. Why are there so many at once?
And you are right. People who carry signatures have paid posts. Sometimes many answers merge into one question. Those who are interested in the answers to the question asked to have the opportunity to filter the most important things for themselves. Is it bad?

The goals of those who post do not always revolve around money. You can look, or maybe you noticed, that some do not read the discussion in the thread, but simply stamp their messages, and thereby cut off the meaning of the latest posts.
Of these people, we can say that they are only interested in the quantity, not the quality of their messages. And these people are only interested in earnings.

I don’t think they should be blamed. Here is the moment of understanding of the person himself is important, who is in a hurry and does not read those who have already answered that his post did not add anything new. I believe that, firstly, you need to respect yourself, and not evaluate your every step in terms of money.

There is no point in pretending that we are all here to learn something and to share that knowledge with others, because there are certainly those for whom the forum is the only place where they come to make money. Most do so by participating in bounty campaigns, some in signature campaigns - but such members are very easy to identify.

The purpose of the forum should be for people to discuss, exchange ideas and be a little smarter at the end of each day than the day before. If, in addition, some get the opportunity to earn something by promoting someone or something legitimate, it should not be seen as a problem - of course until such members become what we call signature spammers. Anyone can report such bad posts, but the biggest responsibility is still on those who run such campaigns and need to separate the good from the bad.

Its a fact that most users are motivated to post because they're getting paid. But if you're making a quality post and contributing something useful by sharing what you know in return, then you're doing your responsibilty to become qualified to receive payment from the campaign you're in. Its not different for having a real job, do the work and get paid while you learn further about crypto through other member's knowledge and experience.

In my case I decided to register in this forum because I want to expand my knowledge about bitcoin. When it comes to crypto everything you need to know is already here. The signature campaign is just a bonus because you have the opportunity to earn while engaging yourself in a conversation. I cant deny that its an advantage for someone like me to have an extra income through sig campaign especially when this pandemic hits us that cause our company to close temporarily. I think what important is you're exerting an effort for your every post regardless if you are part of a signature campain or not.

What do you think?
We are profit hunters and every knowledge also includes profit,,,not everything posts well as comments about paid.sharing knowledge for an advancement,
What's wrong?
discussion and sharing in forums we have information, newbie users learn from reading the comments column and that is very helpful.

OP, let me answer your question as best I can. I hope this will give you more insight into staying on one of the best bitcoin discussion forum to date.

The last few days I've learned a lot and noticed how people keep posting ideas, answering questions, sharing knowledge, and so on.

Okay, I hope you don't stop here. Continue your adventure.

What is your goal in posting ?
Personally I believe this is my way to discuss and share knowledge, experiences and many other things with forum members. I think the answers to these questions will be largely the same and it's no surprise that we were paid for it. This is a discussion forum, without posting maybe you will only be considered as a reader (guest).

If you have plenty of time to read, then read through this thread. You will understand a lot about signature campaigns that might confuse you.
- Signature Campaign Guidelines (read this before starting or joining a campaign)
Quote
Signature campaigns should be a way to reward users for quality contributions and only those that do should be paid
The sentence I quoted from the thread is proof that a quality poster deserves to be rewarded for its efforts and contributions in forums and signature campaigns is one option.

Would someone be guilty of posting just to get paid ?
No, they won't be guilty as long as they don't break rules like publishing spam and junk. Most spam and useless posts will be reported for deletion, so you shouldn't hesitate for these people to do it just to be paid. Most managers will evaluate the quality of participants posts at each period of the week. While there is no guarantee that managers can completely prevent spam posts, they will at least supervise all participants in the right way.

Sorry if this is a silly question from a beginner.
No, but I'm sure the same question has been asked before for a long time.

The reason why I post is to contribute in this forum, to give thoughts, opinions, knowledges that I know. I want to share you all the positive information so that you can somehow benefit it and help you in life. I also give warnings towards scammers, give ideas how to trade, what are the benefits of cryptocurrencies, and etc. We are building a crypto community here where we should support its existence and make it into mainstream. Bitcoin is one of the reason why I came here in this forum because it really changed my life 4 years ago.

The purpose is a discussion forum is to discuss by sharing ideas, assisting those who needs it and try as much as possible not to spam or shitpost. This is my first signature campaign, wanted to give it a try and i must say it makes no difference to me that's why i chose a campaign that will accept even 5 post weekly as I don't want to be under pressure to have to post when it's not needed. I do read more than posting still.

I don't think someone who does good quality post should feel guilty for wearing a signature or should be blamed unless it's shitposting.

The question is, what is the purpose of your post? To discuss your curiosity right? You see that's one of the purpose of the forum forum hence getting paid to post what you would post anyway ain't a bad thing.

Sorry if this is a silly question from a beginner.

To begin with, this forum was created in order to share your ideas, knowledge, and news about the cryptocurrency world. As this is the biggest and most famous forum currently, lots of users advertise their projects/tokens in this forum due to the incoming traffic that visits this forum daily. Due to that, signature campaigns were created in order to serve as a form of advertising.

Now, most users participate in a signature campaign since it gives you income depending on the required number of posts weekly. In a cryptocurrency enthusiast, this is like living in two worlds at the same time- you get to share your passion and experience while at the same time being paid for doing the thing that you love.

As long as the user does not spam, scam, or otherwise cheat in the campaign, then I see no problem with it.

Everyone have their own reasons why they are here, some don't care about wearing signature campaigns as they are here to gain knowledge about crypto only and some want to make some money and gain something in return during the process too, there is no rules that says this is wrong, only spammers and rules breaker won't stand a chance, leave the forum judgements to those in charge (admins), to remain on this forum you have to make contributions, that's all that matters

This forum is made for exchanging information, discussing the world of crypto, blockchain, decentralization, and anything related to crypto. You are right that we are getting paid because of the campaign, every campaign has a different rate.

If you are asking me about what is my reason for posting then I have two reasons, first is to participate and contribute to the forum, second is because the campaign is paying me for the posts that I am creating.

Likewise, I have been in this forum for a long while and I always make sure that whenever I am posting with the intent to meet the requirements of a campaign I joined in, I also make sure that all of the data I've been telling is reliable and valid. Through that way, I can make sure that I am not just doing it just to earn money but also to enlighten other people like me who have lots of questions up until now about the system of bitcoin and other cryptocurrency. I have the purpose to help and earn whenever I am posting here in this forum and I hope I am able to help some people at some point.

The purpose of this forum is for users with various knowledge in the crypto space to come together and share knowledge and engage with other users. That is self dedication but since the idea of getting paid for wearing signatures and avatars got introduced, it motivates users to post which is also a win for this forum's statistics growth. I post to contribute to the forum.

Signature is a lot like advertising. Different people participate in different signature campaigns. These are overseen by the project manager. There are many restrictions on signature such as scams, fraud, deceptions, etc. Signature campaigns are motivated by thoughts, intentions of help, opinions, etc.

No, no one will be convicted but remember it is not the only way to earn. It is a platform for the overall concept and reality of Bitcoin. So, it should be posted with caution.

Every post must have delivered with an intent to share and let others learn. However, due to topic which is somehow irrelevant, the replies too will become irrelevant and are boring to read. Most likely generic post have been generated due to signature campaign qouta to reach every week to get paid especially the altcoins bounties section. There are bunch of projects in that section that are actually scam and that offer work which will not pay. Sad reality and that is why I had move out in that section due to lot of trust issues with team handling the projects.

These questions touches a lot as I came to understand that most users come to contribute positively because of the present of signature campaigns getting paid in doing that, let's take an instance, if signature is banned, could users take part in this forum again? Very few.
I also understand that members of this forum learns and teaches by simply reading others people's ideas and way of answering questions to lighten up their IQ, by doing such they are getting paid for that. It is here that I have seen that learners are paid, teachers are also paid.

I came to understand that most users come to contribute positively because of the present of signature campaigns getting paid in doing that
It's usually the other way around. Users contribute positively and by virtue of this have a better chance of ranking up and joining signature campaigns. Of course some newbies are motivated to join the forum because of the perceived rewards that could be earned, but I do not think that is enough to keep a user on the forum regularly as a newbie and guide them to become Full members or Sr. Members (as this are the minimum ranks one can usually earn from). If one is solely motivated to earn from the forum, they'll likely get frustrated if the merits do not come as fast and get stuck at lower ranks or look for other ways to get it, which could get them banned.

let's take an instance, if signature is banned, could users take part in this forum again? Very few.
While activity would surely drop, I don't think 'active members' would completely abandon the forum, leaving very few. They'll just probably log in less frequently.
Members who are interested in Bitcoin and those who hold a couple of it would still stick around here to discuss relevant topics.

Those of us here who use the code signature are the members who keep this forum alive. Contributing positively and not breaking forum rules and providing the best ideas is a good thing, will not feel guilty because we are paid.
Personally, even though I don't join the signature campaign, I will still contribute to this forum because it will be good for the accounts we have.

This forum is not only about the signature campaign, but it is still more broad. Everyone has different goals, with these differences, it creates discussion in this forum.

I can tell for sure that the users who are hardcore Bitcoin enthusiasts would continue posting on this forum even without signature campaigns. But it's also true that some of the high quality posters are motivated by signature campaigns, especially if they are enrolled in a very high-paying campaign like Chipmixer. This means that signature campaigns aren't inherently flawed, the problem comes from poorly-managed campaigns, but merit system already made a huge improvement.

Also, it's not like without signatures only high quality posters will remain. Check the Serious Discussion board, which is not counted towards any signature campaigns - the quality of discussion there isn't much better than anywhere on this forum.

There is nothing wrong with posting on the forum to get paid as long as the post have good intentions like helping, sharing ideas compared to post there, post here just to get paid only without thinking if your post could or wil benefit someone from it especially newbies in this case.

I think it's not secret that many people here are just to get paid. It's not something surprising when we have things like signature campaigns. I've see many cases when users stopped posting after losing spot in signature campaign.
Though, I would lie if I'd say that money don't have any role for me here. I must admit that I made some posts just to get paid. I doubt that I would had made over 7500 posts if there wouldn't be signature campaigns. On the other hand, when I was without campaign, my posting habits didn't changed at all and I haven't made less posts. In all these years Bitcointalk simply become part of my daily routine and I hardly can live without it. And I don't care that much whether I'll get paid or no.
IMO, it's clearly vissible when you're posting genuinely, interested in subject and when you post just to get paid.
