Hi All,

I am looking for a help regarding a migration between Blockstream wallet to Electrum. The blockstream wallet uses P2SH number format that starts with "3" and Seed words while Electrum uses Bech32 number format that starts with "Bc1" and private key.

Is there any way to migrate? Any help will be appreciated!

Regards,
Avikz

- Create a new wallet using Electrum
- Copy one of your addresses either from Receive tab or your Addresses tab in Electrum
- Go to Greenwallet and paste that address there in send tab
- Send your entire balance in Greenwallet to that new address

You can import P2SH addresses on electrum too. It's just a little hidden. This way you can import using only private keys:
Code:
p2wpkh-p2sh:PRIVATE_KEY

As for mnemonics you click New/Restore, then Standard wallet -> I already have a seed -> On options select BIP39 Seed -> p2sh-segwit. That's all.

As far as I know the Greenwallet wallets are all multi-sig addresses that have one the company as one of the required signers which means the user don't have all the keys to recover their funds/addresses. So the only option is to send the coins.
Additionally it is always safer to send coins instead of importing keys.

P.S. "p2sh-segwit" is different from multi-sig P2SH

Thanks for your reply! But unfortunately the process didn't work! My bitcoins wasn't migrated to Electrum this way! It has just created a new wallet with zero balance.

- Copy one of your addresses either from Receive tab or your Addresses tab in Electrum
- Go to Greenwallet and paste that address there in send tab
- Send your entire balance in Greenwallet to that new address

Yes! That is the last resort. I was just trying to save the transaction fees which is showing around 45 USD for a 2000 USD transaction. If nothing works out, I will send the transaction. Thanks for your reply!

You surely did exactly what I told you? And it shows you different p2sh addresses with the same mnemonic? Isn't the greenwallet using BIP39 for generating mnemonics?

I guess greenwallet does not allow to export your private keys, because you'd have already done it.

Blockstream doesn't use standard derivation paths for their wallets which means you can't import your backup into another wallet.

What @pooya87 proposed is the safest and best way imho.
Create a new wallet, you'll benefit of all its features properly and leave behind completely the other wallet.

Just make sure your electrum was taken from the official website and the signature verified, and also, in to avoid waste of money, do this step (and move your coins) when the mempool is not this full.

Unfortunately no solution found on this migration issue! There's indeed no way to migrate from P2SH to Bech32 without initiating a transaction. Even though there is an option within Electrum to select P2SH wallet, but that didn't work possibly because of the difference between Segwit and Multi-sig P2SH. But finally initiated a transaction to move funds!

Correct. Even though both addresses start with a "3", they don't work the same.

This is a one-time fee to get rid of multisig and finally be the real owner of your keys!

I think you can use this tool to recover your funds if you lose access to your two factor authentication (2FA)  so you can get your private key if your GreenAddress 2of2 and have nlocktimes.zip https://github.com/greenaddress/garecovery then you can use that private key with  p2wpkh-p2sh: key
