If your transaction has the RBF flag, you can right click it and select "Cancel transaction" to double-spend it back to your wallet with a higher fee.

If you are running Electrum 4.0.4 or newer and if the transaction is marked as replaceable then you should see "Cancel tx" under the context menu once you right-click on that transaction. Do you recognise the address to which the coins were sent? From where did you download your version of Electrum? The address should not have changed on its own.

Did you download it from Electrum.org? Download the latest version (4.0.9) and you should have the "Cancel transaction" option when right clicking the unconfirmed transaction.

Yes I download this from Electrum.org and never update now trying to download new version in next few minutes because its very important for me to stop this transaction.

Edit: asking just for information I will able to have all my addresses on new version ?

Yes, your wallet will remain untouched. You should also verify the installer before doing every update. Since you need to cancel your transaction urgently, you can skip this step exceptionally.

I realize something strange as my payment is going on wrong address

Did you double-check the transaction before you send it?
If you remember that you sent it to the right address and it was changed to a different address you might be infected.

I suggest you before you use the latest version of Electrum as suggested above, install the latest version of Electrum to a known safe and clean PC/laptop(If you have extra) and import your wallet file or seed phrase.
After that do what they said(Cancel the transaction).

Just to be clear you can not cancel or reverse a bitcoin transaction, even if it is unconfirmed. However, you can double spend it. Which is basically you making that previous transaction invalid by spending the inputs of the first transaction in a way that it confirms faster.
So even though the button is called "Cancel" but in reality you are paying some additional fee for a new transaction that double spends the same outputs but this time it sends the coins to your own wallet.

If the transaction has already went through and you were sending it to a business' address and you simply sent it  to an address they're no longer listening to, you need to contact them for support and tell them you sent money to the wrong address which they control.

It could also be clipboard malware which changed the address. What is the address that you send funds to by mistake? Maybe it's in the database of scam addresses. There is a certain site tracking them which I forgot its name.

Since Indymoney sent the original transaction with Electrum version 3.3.8, where the 'cancel transaction' (double spend) feature wasn't yet implemented, will he still be able to return the coins back to his wallet after installing the newest 4.0.9 version? The positive thing is that he enabled RBF, but has anyone tested if the 'cancel transaction' feature works in connection with older Electrum versions?

Even without that feature, he should in theory be able to double spend it back to his address if he is lucky and the initial transaction doesn't get confirmed in the meantime.

If the transaction has already been confirmed there is no going back and even the new version of Electrum can't help him. RBF to yourself is only effective while the transaction is unconfirmed.

I think he mentioned above that the transaction has already went through, but there is a method for replacing unconfirmed transactions which works on older versions of Electrum that @bob123 posted in another thread. It helped me reverse an unconfirmed transaction of mine one time.

  • Disconnect Electrum from the Network
  • Open the console (View -> Show Console -> Then the "Console" tab)
  • Enter: wallet.remove_transaction("a219bb1983c1dea6a00360fa830e5961deaf5a1dccbafd0578c81087db3b50e5")
  • Close and restart Electrum
  • Create a new transaction sending your funds with a pretty high fee (definitely more than the 16 sat/vB from the first transaction) -> sign it and save/export it
  • Connect electrum to the network again
  • Import the just created transaction (Tools -> Load transaction -> from text/file (depending on what you have chosen in the last step))
  • Broadcast it

But replace the transaction ID with Indymoney's. Unfortunately this also only works for unconfirmed transactions.

You said that you downloaded Electrum from electrum.org; however, you didn't confirm that you have checked the signature; if you didn't there's a chance you may have been tricked to download from a clone site with similar domain name and (like eIectrum.org or such)

This is the first thing that comes into my mind, but other things may have happened - from malware to false positive...

It disappeared out of the blue while the computer was idle, or while you were running the antivirus scan? If it disappeared during the AV scan then it must have quarantined it, so check the AV's quarantined file list to see if it's there.

You should start to check the signature.

Just because you believe you were on electrum.org, it doesn't necessarily to be the case.
Verifying the signature is the only way to be sure that you have downloaded the original version.

The possibility that your pc got infected, definitely exists. Did you recently download or install any other software?

I am using the latest version of Electrum 4.0.9 and my transaction was still stuck to 10 blocks and as I see on mempool.space it shows it has RBF feature. I search how to do that but somehow I saw this "Cancel (double spend)" on my wallet along with "Increase fee". My question is if I do click that "Cancel (double spend)" will it cancel the whole transaction? I was just a bit skeptical to click that and my bad as well as I thought I set it for 20 sat/byte but it was just 2 sat/byte.  Embarrassed

Your transaction will be double-spent to you with a higher fee than your original transaction automatically. Unless you have to pay a specific amount of BTC to someone, it might be a better idea to select "Increase fee" and set it to 20 sat/byte which should be enough to get your transaction confirmed in the block.
