What app did you use?

As far as I know, that's not possible. Which makes me think the app you used is either a scam or at least badly programmed.

APP, Binance, Coinbase. I am puzzled here.

You purchased bitcoin using the APP.
You purchased bitcoin in Binance.
Which one?

What I understand that you sent those coins to coinbase. Not sure about the APP part but maybe Binance will allow you to send coins to any address. They leave the choice to you if I am not wrong. If you have done it on Binance then the coins never gone to anywhere but Binance still have it. Only Binance support can help you in this case.

There is an upvoted post in reddit about a Fake Binance app (posted 1day ago), check if that's the one you've downloaded.
Link to the thread: link

You post alone suggests that you were scammed by a fake app.
Ethereum address and the Bitcoin address' formats are too different to be mixed up by an app, let alone from a big company like Binance.

I have been using the Binance app, I have tried to withdraw ETH from Binance to my Coinbase ETH address. When I paste the address on the address bar then there is a red warning about address formats and the withdrawal button is disabled. This means you can't withdraw ETH to BTC address from Binance. I think you have done something wrong during the installation of apps as said by nc50lc. Most probably you got a scam somehow. You need to share more details to get a good suggestion from here like from where you had installed the apps and what is the name and link.

Provided you used the real binance app or website, once you click on withdraw, there is an authorization link that's sent to your Email. If you do not approve the withdrawal through that email, your withdrawal can not be processed and neither will you be able to see your transaction ID. The link usually expires after 30 minutes

As others said you can't actually send your ethereum to bitcoin address because every legit apps will say invalid address format when you try to do it.I actually seen these kind threads in the past but with new exchange names not as binance one so someone who executed that one might be involved here as well.

How much eth you actually lost? Next time better learn how to execute your thing better.

I guess he mistakenly bought ETH and sent it to his coinbase bitcoin address. The issue now is if the ETH sent to bitcoin address if it can be retrieved or recovered? But I do not think it can. Which means the fund has just been lost, we should not send to wrong address because it can result to permanent loss of coin. We should also be careful of fake apps, making only the legit app to purchase bitcoin.

You literally cannot send ETH to a Bitcoin address. It is not possible and even if its an UI error, the funds cannot be sent on the network.

I respect your knowledge and i have never try to send an ETH to a BTC address before so i dont have a clue but are you sure with what you said because the OP is not the first person to say he mistakenly send ETH to BTC address.

@OP, I will advice to you to be more careful next time cause coinbase dont help with such issues.

Don't have to. I can be wrong too, but it'll be good if it's refuted with some actual evidence instead of just asking if I'm sure.

The format for Ethereum address is completely different from BTC addresses. Even if the software was incredibly bugged, the actual transaction that gets signed would never get confirmed since it's not valid in the first place. These scenarios are more common for Bitcoin forks and/or altcoins that uses similar format but even that is recoverable.

Besides, plenty of people have said it won't be lost. So... yeah, perhaps people should read the entire thread before posting. Smiley

I respect your knowledge and i have never try to send an ETH to a BTC address before so i dont have a clue but are you sure with what you said because the OP is not the first person to say he mistakenly send ETH to BTC address.

An Ethereum address looks like this: 0xde0b295669a9fd93d5f28d9ec85e40f4cb697bae
A Bitcoin address looks like this: 1F1tAaz5x1HUXrCNLbtMDqcw6o5GNn4xqX or bc1qar0srrr7xfkvy5l643lydnw9re59gtzzwf5mdq

No Ethereum wallet is going to be able to interpret a Bitcoin address as an Ethereum address. When you use Metamask to send ether to a Bitcoin address you get the error, "Recipient address is invalid".
