Etercoin will be the first coin spread through and secured by the Cryptonesis platform.
Etercoin is based on Peercoin with 10 times lower transaction fees and a different proof-of-work reward scheme.

IPO launched! http://www.cryptonesis.com/
Etercoin launched! Get a repo here: https://github.com/etercoin/etercoin and start mining. We are at the beginning, stay tuned!

Distribution
There is a stake of 11,000,000 Etercoins to be distributed. During the first round, 10,000,000 coins will be distributed.

The early investors' funds will be released first. We will distribute funds quasi-randomly to a variable number of Etercoin addresses. This means that it will not be easy way to backtrace Etercoins to Bitcoins.

Any funds received outside of the funding period will be treated as donations.

Etercoins received may be smaller by the transaction fee (0.001 ETR) plus the smallest divisible unit (0.00000001 ETR) due to possible rounding issues.

Guarantee
If during the evaluation period, released Etercoins will not reach an evaluation of at least twice the value of invested Bitcoins, you will receive back your original investment minus the fees (5% + 0.01 BTC). Please note that you can still hold new coins.

Specification:
    Block time: 10 minute
    Difficulty retarget: every block
    Transaction fee: 0.001 BC
    P2P port: 53085, RPC port: 53086
    Proof of work algo: SHA256
Premine: 11000000 ETR for IPO (http://www.cryptonesis.com/) and 100000 ETR dev stake

Bounties:
- 400 ETR for Etercoin logo, it should be a vector graphics project (ideally in Inkscape format) + exported to transparent PNG,

Eter prefix refers to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aether_(classical_element)
but it can be loosely coupled with
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternity
and as you said http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/eternal
