A lot of talk lately over the past couple years about the term 'fake news'

I am interested in how the crypto news cycle works.

- Where does the information come from that gets posted?
- Which news outlet is generally the first, has the most 'breaking' news
- Do crypto journalist just monitor press releases, and write articles from there?

Theoretically, if you were to start writing news articles about crypto, where would you look to find breaking stories?

Most of them are effectively blogs dressed up as news sites.  Vultures that re-purpose stories from anywhere they can find them.  Even if it's actually old news, which is a trick they commonly pull when it's a slow week.  There's not a great deal of journalistic integrity involved.

This might be extraordinarily naïve of me, but but I tend to get a lot of my cryptocurrency related information from this forum. You guys have been ahead of the curve on a lot of things, and if you're able to vet the information you're taking in around here then it's an amazing resource for what's going on in the cryptocurrency world.

Anything there is to do or know crypto-wise can be accomplished with the information around here, so that's got to count for something.

Fake news can be easily created and publish and anyone can do it. Just use platform like facebook, youtube, instagram, twitter and even tiktok to spread fake news. As we all know that social media platform are being used as a medium for scamming because of its vast audience. And of course there are people too that could be easily fall in a scam trap. So, we need to educate and keep.awareness as much as possible.

I think usually it came from one source or another then after that, they scrap it to make it look different when they posted it on their site. Just like some mainstream media when they published some news and may look different in some channels but it always the same except the exclusive one.

Fake news are quite common with cryptocurrency as well as with real-time news. Through social media and other available platforms ot is quite easy to spread the fake news than the right one. Whenever a fake news is under circulation it carries some hard statement that creates fear among people. Out of humanity one shares to the other, so that they'll be cautious.

With bitcoin and all getting the real news is quite hard task, because people are not that aware. Anything interesting and fearful about it will easily reach a big number generating positive as well as people opposition.

it's always way easier for the bad news to spread than the good one Sad people tend to believe that something are are normally something risky and then miss rafts of opportunities. All in all, it's hard to teach old dogs the new thing and the young are busy with their own lives

Disclaimer: While I like writing, I don't run a news site.

- Where does the information come from that gets posted?
Insider information if you're a big news site, from bigger news sites if you're a smaller one.

- Which news outlet is generally the first, has the most 'breaking' news
Mostly, the news giants. Think CNBC, CNN, etc. As far as I know bigger crypto news sites like CoinDesk still are mostly minutes/hours late compared to the giants.

- Do crypto journalist just monitor press releases, and write articles from there?
Mostly, especially if you don't have the connections to get early access to events, yes.

Theoretically, if you were to start writing news articles about crypto, where would you look to find breaking stories?
Everywhere. Especially when starting out, the likeliness of you out-competing the bigger sites(in terms of speed) is probably next to impossible, so where you can probably excel is the quality of your articles. Try to beat them in terms of depth of information.

I think you should only trust large, long-established sites. Today there is a lot of noise around bitcoin and almost everyone can impersonate an analyst. I prefer to trust reputable sites. They often publish news in a timely and quick manner. Telegram news channels from such sites are especially convenient.
And all the fake couch analysts will be successful among the illiterate population as long as there are people who believe in such fake news.
