In my opinion, right now we have two "best" options, if you can't find 3080s

RX 5700 XT and non XT - easier to find, and probably with a good price - hashrate 53 Mhs without Bios mod and 56 to 58Mhs with Bios Mod - consuming 140w to 150w
3060ti - hard to find at MSRP but easier than 3080s, reasonably price with 60Mhs, easy to tweak, consumes 130w and will have a better resale in the future

I would go on 3060ti, but if it's hard to find, buy 2 or 3 5700s and look for 3060tis to complete your rig

The motherboard will depend on how many cards you want, there's good options from Asus (in my experience, Asus is the best for mining with desktop motherboards), or you can buy mining boards if you want just a rig (not a PC to use daily)

PSUs will depends on how many cards too, but if you want 4 or 5 cards, you can buy 1200w GOLD PSUs, or you can use 2 PSUs, and you can buy 2 x 850w for example (you have to check price and availability to see which one worths)

Nicehash is good enough to use, don't worry
In the past I used to mine directly the coins and sell in the exchange, but today I prefer to use nicehash to save time and to get Bitcoins
Nicehash supports how many GPUs you have

A heads up when you go to bigger rigs and need two psus be sure to know how to wire your rigs. Or you will short shit out.

there are some deals for 1200watt psus if you look carefully but you may find that they prefer to run six cards better than 7.

Agree with philipma1957 if he is going to mine with 7 GPU then he needs to look for 1600watt PSU just like EVGA t2 that could be run around 7 to 9 cards. Depending on the config and cards you want to run with this PSU if their power draw is below 100w you can run around 10 cards in a single 1600watt PSU.

~> aliitp2
If this is just a single rig and you don't have a plan to build more rig I suggest you this OS which is easy to setup and free for 1 rig. Check HiveOS, I'm actually not fan of nicehash they already have bad issue before which makes feel uncomfortable and the withdrawal fee is a big high compared mining directly to any well-known pool with free transaction fee. And I don't know if nicehash includes and give the transaction fee rewards to their miner unlike direct pools that they include transaction fees rewards and block rewards to distribute to the miners.

Solving blocks can't be solved without my rigs.

thanks,
Can you please share the information of your electricity bill? How costly it is? That 600$ you wan to spend on a RX5700 XT can get you 90-96MHS if you buy 3 RX580 8gb instead, the card is very affordable than RX5700 XT and each RX580 draws up to 80 watts or 82watts, higher hashrate wins here

There is nothing funny about using Nicehash, many miners including myself still use Nicehash, this software supports multiple graphic cards so you don't have to worry about how many cards you are going to buy, just make sure your motherboard have enough slots for 7x graphic cards

In December 2017, January 2018 were the most expensive prices for video cards, and after 6 months the profit decreased and the prices for video cards decreased by 200-250%. It is now very dangerous to buy new expensive video cards. Calculate your business model if the profit drops by 2 or 3 times.

RX 580 didn't have 80w of power consumption on the wall, power on the wall is something near 130 to 150w depends on how much you undervolt and underclock, I think 80w is only the power of the chip

I have a Gigabyte 5700xt with 715mv core, and it's using 140w on the wall, hashing 54Mhs, it's more efficient than Polaris cards
Unless you have free electricity, it's important to have efficiency to keep your rig in profits

3060ti is even more efficient with 60Mhs consuming 130 to 140w on the wall, but costs more

agree with you. Right now its not good time buy cards unless you can find at msrp. paying 600$ for 5700 it is crazy thing. 7X600=4200$ with other gears mobo cpu ram risers psu easy it will be 4600$. it is big money. i remember rx580 was 600$ in end of 2017 then end 2018 it was 100-120$. all in your risk my friend

Is it a secret how you achieve 54 MH / s without an unmodified BIOS? I have an MSI RX 5700XT Gaming X and I achieve 51 MH / s on Simplemining with the settings:
Core MHz: 1300
Memory MHz: 900
Core undervolt: 750
Memory UV (MVDD): 1300
Memory UV (MVDDCI): 800
Power State: 4   .

Why are people buying expensive graphic cards mainly for mining purposes? Have we all forgotten the whole idea about mining that says ROI is the top priority? If you buy a card for 600$ when are you going to get the return of investment back? The funny thing is after few months later the same card can start selling for 200$, it doesn't make sense to buy expensive cards for mining

I will still buy rx480 and rx580 over RTX3070 and other expensive cards even if I have all the money, ROI is the most important thing here and the rx480 and 580 can get you there faster, moreover they are dirty cheap, around 150$ to 250$, remember, a 60mhs from a card is still a 60mhs no matter how much you buy the card for

I don’t think this is true. My Radeon VII’s have ROI’d several times over already and they’re still selling for basically the same price I paid nearly 2 years ago. Getting the latest efficient GPUs has I don’t think ever been a bad idea since the inception of Bitcoin. What doesn’t make sense is buying cheap GPUs that won’t maintain profitability and will never be able to ROI. This is especially the case if you don’t have access to fort cheap electricity.

There is long term ROI and short term ROI, some cards gives ROI faster than some and most expensive cards takes even longer to ROI than cheap cards, the choice is on the buyers themselves but I still prefers cheap or used cards rather than expensive graphic cards, none still maintains their msrp

No secret  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Just good silicon I think

I'll post here the pic of my 5700Xt running, it's a Gigabyte 5700 OC rev 1, I didn't make any bios mod, only used More Power Tools to decrease core voltage to 718mv, and to increase memory clock, I'm using 1890mhz at the moment

Take a look

Totally stable, running for more than weeks without interruption, this is my best card, but I have another ones that requires more power and gives less hashrate, as I said, depends on silicon lottery  Cheesy

I literally just have you an example of a card that has been out nearly two years and still sells for it’s msrp. I stand by the thought that if you do not have ridiculously cheap power, buying cheap cards is likely to make you a bag holder. Not to mention the higher likelihood of experiencing problems relating to cards wearing out and dying from long periods of overuse.

Is it a secret how you achieve 54 MH / s without an unmodified BIOS? I have an MSI RX 5700XT Gaming X and I achieve 51 MH / s on Simplemining with the settings:
Core MHz: 1300
Memory MHz: 900
Core undervolt: 750
Memory UV (MVDD): 1300
Memory UV (MVDDCI): 800
Power State: 4   .

Totally stable, running for more than weeks without interruption, this is my best card, but I have another ones that requires more power and gives less hashrate, as I said, depends on silicon lottery  Cheesy

nice numbers..lowest i can take it on my cards is 750mv core/1250mhz getting 50.5mh/s....temps on mem(under 85deg) and core(43deg) junction temps(range from 49-52)  gpu"s are all non XT version rog strix OC edition

THe issue with that is that RX480/580 are hard to come by at a reasonable price.  You can still buy them new, but 2 of those cards will hash the same as one RX 5700 / RTX 3060TI, and cost the same , but consume twice the power.  In addition, the resale vaule of the older RX 480/580 cards compared to newer ones will be poor once the bull season is over.

Fellow miners, get your thens and thans in order and help other forum readers understand what you are writing. Remember the grammar basics:  B larger THAN A (comparator operator). If something THEN ....

True, RX5700XT will be future proof than RX 570 and 580 but I don't understand why you said the cost is the same because on ebay and newegg the lowest RX580 I can find there is 250$ times two is 500$, the question is can I find a RX5700XT at 500$? If yes please drop me a link to the store

You have picked the worst time to build a rig.  This is peak hardware pricing for everything.   Where were you this summer?  or the year before.  Doing it now just means ROI will be harder than ever.
