Hi,
I try to understand transaction when opening a new lightning network channel on Electrum. I open a channel in amount of 7 mbtc and it's still unconfirmed.
On the transaction detail it says that:

0.030956 BTC split into 0.007 BTC and 0.02393 BTC and tx fee

What is 0.030956 btc? why is doing the split?

regards

Assuming you've funded this from your own wallet, whenever you send btc you have to send the whole amount of the money you received to an address.
If you received 0.03btc and 0.01 for example to your wallet and funded with less than 0.01 it's likely the 0.01 would be spent on it.

Whatever is left from funding the initial address is then sent to a type of address known as "change" where it can be spent from in the future.
