RTX 3080 error: unable to get fan speed - Unknown Error (999)

It does not happen often, maybe once per 4-5days but i dont like it.

I changed 3 risers but not solved. Do you have any idea?

I'm running +0 core, +1000 mem. ASUS 3080 TUF. Only 1 card got error.

Looks like you are using T-rex miner. Lower OC for memory, 1000 is too much.

I am having the same problem with one of my 3080 EVGA FTW3 Ultra. Got total of 4 cards. Only one card is giving me this error. All 4 with same oc settings. 3 of the cards are awesome - 101.5 mh/s 246w without any problem. Any suggestions how to fix this issue with the 4rd card?

When this error occurs, the card continues to work normally, or stops?
Are you using Phoenix Miner, right?

I have some minor bugs about fans in my rig, but it doesn't affect the hashrate and stability, I think it's just some bug of miner and drivers

Did you try without OC, or reducing OC?

Try Phoenix Miner, with my tests PM is more stable than other miners, I think it uses a little more power, just a little, but it makes difference for me, other miners give me some errors once or twice a day

And yes, reduce overclock, you're having 101.5 mh/s with 246w, it's awesome, but there's some cards that won't reach stability with same OC

Reduce memory clock, +999 is pretty safe to adjust, and let running for 24h, and you can increase step by step, it's better to lose some Mhs to achieve 24/7

For sure I will try with oc but all 4 3080s are the same cards - 3080 ftw3 ultra and only 1 is making the problem. thats why I oc all the same way

clock them all to 1030 memory and lower power to 230 watts.

come back and tell us your numbers.

you will kill the cards the way you are mining them.

It appears you got three great cards and one okay card.

The trick is to find best setting for all four of them

the lesser card

may want 220 watts and 1000
or 220 watts and 1030


the good cards may want

230 watts and 1100
or 225 watt and 1150

I know they are outstanding compared to the lesser one

but pushing them to death 💀 and getting rma’s is foolish since you may never replacements as good as these three.

I would be willing to bet they will not do 246 watts and  1305 ram speed for two or three years

but they may get 230 watts and 1150 ram speed for years.

they are a sure thing outstanding chips.

A little misleading. The max I could go with the "ok" card was at 960 memory.
I lower others at 1150memory and 62 power limit(oc with msi afterburner).
Results are about 99.x for 3 of the cards and for the ok card is around 97.x
Watts are around 235 from each card.
Will se if it is stable that way.

when stale changes to 1000/1/1/1/1  vs

that way i am going to be like at 96-97mhs. while my 3x3080s at 1305 memory and 65 power limit are giving 100.x mhs and 7000/7000 shares for over 3 days without any issues. are you sure its a good idea to lower more? i want ot save the cards for longer and also have good mhs

3 days good is nothing

a lot of cards pushed hard simply die in 30-90 days

97mh is 3 under 100 mh or about 21 cents

so for it to be worth pushing to 100 or 101 for the extra 21-28 cents it needs to work for more then months.

say it is 28 cents less per card - 7 cents extra power  you clear 21 cents a day x 4 = 84 cents

x 100 days = 84 dollars
x 200 days = 168 dollars
x 300 days = 252 dollars


if you were getting 1 dollar a card extra it is 4 a day so 200 days is 800 or the price of one card.

you are getting 21 cents a card at 4 it is 84 cents so at 200 days it is 168 not close to the price of 1 card.

An RMA could take 2 months or more. it is not the play to push to 100 or 101
