***Sold but looking for advice on a safe transaction. Please scroll to last message!***

Hi all

I'm an outsider to the btc community who was given one of these coins when they first came out. It sat untouched in a milk jug filled with USD coins for a couple years, forgotten about. Then I found it a few years ago, discovered it was worth something, and put it in an envelope in my safety deposit box where it has resided ever since.

I'm interested in selling the coin but am not comfortable with the process of mailing it to a third party etc. (No offense Mr Minerjones) I am more than willing to travel to a btc convention or to you (especially if you live somewhere warm where I can make a mini vacation of it) to do the transaction. I'm happy to escrow something to minerjones to prove my seriousness about selling, if anyone is hesitant to deal with a newbie.

I would like to put a starting bid of 1.30btc on this, and the auction will end on 1/16 at 10pm EST or when there is a 36 hour period with no bids, whichever comes later. Bids in mulitples of two decimal places please.

Edit: Pics are a couple posts below

b]

Starting bid per lot : 1.29 BTC

Minimum bid increments : 0.01 BTC

Auction ends on 12/13 10pm EST or when there are no bids for 36 hrs whichever comes later

Appreciate the help with the pics guys. Guess I might have gone overboard making a one week timeframe for the auction but wanted to make sure as many people saw it as possible. One thing I want to clarify, my post says auction ends Sunday 1/16. Sunday is actually the 17th.

Auction ends on Sunday 1/17 at 10pm Eastern. Happy bidding

Wow for the first edition with the error? If thats the case I'll hold onto it for another couple years and see if things change. Until then its yours for the taking for 1.3 btc and I'll do whatever is necessary for a newbie to sell on here.  Cool

If you are hoping for the bitcoin premium to go up, your only hope is that the price of bitcoin crashes. The btc premium should trend to zero as the dollar value of bitcoin goes up. 5 years from now the dollar value of the premium may be substantial, but most likely less than 5% of a bitcoin.

I would recommend getting it graded which would help your case.

You could always sell it on ebay and hope the buyer does not file a refund after they receive the coin.

Great coin btw. Good luck with the sale.

I think its reasonable  Undecided but the market will have the final say! I mean if someone wants to post or DM me with an offer I'd mull it over but this particular coin with it being series 1 and having the mysterious ERROR I would not even consider selling for the amounts talked about in the previous post. I'll hang onto it for a few years and see if there's a surge of interest from the general public at some point. If btc becomes mainstream as you guys predict I cant see how there wouldnt be

Hey, if anything, you're just making it less difficult to hold onto your coins.

If you truly feel that your coins are worth way more than the current market, then hold onto those thoughts: there's obviously a reason you led yourself to that conclusion and if it's based in pragmatism, there's no reason you shouldn't feel like it's wrong.
Most of us hold onto our Bitcoin even if we spend it buying collectibles - you're just doing both at the same time. Smiley

The premium for this coin is pretty low because it was produced in relatively large numbers. It’s the most common Casascius to be offered for sale generally. Even then, a premium of 0.05 BTC is still pretty impressive. For 0.05 BTC You could buy a nice little starter collection of European gold bullion coins.

Thanks for the comments everyone. All reasonable and fair. That said, I'm happy to hang on to the coin if no one wants to pony up the 1.3 BTC for an opportunity to own a part of the very first series of cascaiscus ever made.

Auction ends at 10pm Eastern tonight!

Hey if someone wants to make an offer I'll certainly consider it. But 1.05 btc is barely more than if I peeled it and got the btc and the forks. Plus I have to travel depending on where you are or a btc convention or whatever

Lets stop the funny business and start the bidding shall we  Grin

Hello all

Checking in again now that the price of btc has dipped. I still have this coin and am again looking for a sale price of 1.29btc. I am willing to use minerjones or meet at an agreed safe location. The price is pretty firm, if you give me a good reason to come down I may consider it but Im not sure what the reason could be.

Will be happy to post pics again, and/or do anything reasonable to confirm my legitimacy.
