Here are my 2 cents about the genuine innovation that can be compared with bitcoin
1. smartcontract, the smartcontract introduced by the ethereum foundation and this becomes the main innovation that has been using by a lot of major platform for the tokenization purpose.
2. DAG, Bitcoin has become introduced to be the payment system but this time there's a problem with the fees but DAG has become a new innovation that can make its user create a transaction with almost zero fees.

Defi should not be considered as genuine innovation though

While there are zero fee altcoin like NANO, you consider DAG as innovative because it charges less fees, but you do not consider DeFi (that provides us more reliable and reputable financial services) as innovative. I totally disagree with this opinion.

Bitcoin is done for one specific purpose and is doing that just fine. It's the most secure blokchain out there, but every new radical innovation build into it should be done in layer 2. But when the layer 1 isn't going to work with the layer 2 you are building, you need to reinvent layer 1.

more precisely bitcoin is king and altcoin as the people. Bitcoin doesn't need to be innovated anymore. and altcoins need to innovate and even develop into turning points to reach the bitcoin palace. but if you look at some altcoins it would be very profitable plus a few minutes ago it was in the green dot. It would be a shame not to take a position at the ideal price. the opportunity for the altcoin obsession lasts from now on.

I would say that bitcoin is the prime mover. The first one that started this whole crypto revolution.

Bitcoin has other purposes, altcoin though offers more, Dapps alone has created a lot of innovation to different industries. And then we have altcoin projects focuses on one particular industries, i.e health or pharma sector. Bitcoin can't be apply to that industry as we all know that it was primarily design to be a payment scheme, but it evolves to be store of value and speculative asset.

Bitcoin is undoubtedly the boss in the cryptocurrency space, but now it has grown too much and is not the right time to buy it, at least you need to wait for a price correction to enter this asset

There were a lot of innovations in different chains last 5 years. Not all of them are important, but some altcoins like NXT (first platform with native tokenization), Ethereum (turing complete smart contracts), BitShares/EOS (DPoS), ZCash (privacy) and many others did really good job. Some others, like TRON, didn't innovate much itself but created very good product by combining best parts from different chains/ideas.

I think people need to understand that there is no new innovations on Altcoins that can't be ported to Bitcoin network. People need not to forget that the scaling issue on Bitcoin is still there, it is not that is gone, when this is resolved we can have new ideas pop up on Bitcoin.

In altcoins, Ethereum smart contract is the one that's being used by most projects for their innovations. No need for the comparison of it to bitcoin. That's just such a vague comparison if you're going to compare it with bitcoin and altcoins.
There are also too many altcoins that offer the same use as Ethereum's.

thats right, smart contracts is the best altcoins features now, because as i see a lot of project with smart contracts features become the TOP altcoins in the market, for example ethereum and tron
about DAG i have no comment on it

There's no shortage of coins that have made something never done before, the real question is if they have created anything useful and truly groundbreaking? Take IOTA for example, they created a radically new system called DAG which they used instead of blockchain for their coin, but what have they achieved? Their system was completely centralized, with censorship and hacking, and in the end no one adopted their coin for daily transactions on Internet of things.

Innovation is not hard, successful innovation is.

No, what is not broken does not need to be fixed.

Bitcoin was built out of a need for censorship-resistance currency which would not be controlled by a centralized institution. It has gone far from that idea into something new for the economy but I guess that is fine.

However this "layer" and other bullshit is what brought the altcoin demise. There is absolutely no need for such ideas and attempting to bring things that are not needed at all. What is needed is a gradual acceptance of bitcoin in the merchants allowing it to be spent easily.

Keep it in your Ethereum shitcoin network for now. For bitcoin, just buy and sell and make profit while the devs crack their heads on creating layers and bullshit and you can enjoy the money.

For me, I am kinda agree on one of the signature of I saw here in this forum, the signature says like "Bitcoin is the highway, and altcoins are those using highway like taxis, bus, motorcycles."
Some flaws or problems of Bitcoin for me are solved or achieved by some altcoins. That's why for me, Bitcoin will stay and altcoins too. But there are some people who are Bitcoin maximalist, we can't force them to believe on altcoins.

BitShares was first of course, but both EOS and BitShares were created by Dan Larimer, so I joined them together.

Monero approach was first, but it needs a lot of redundancy in blockchain which makes transactions much more expensive. Zero knowledge proof approaches like Zk-snarks are much more interesting, imho.

One of the altcoins asset is the utility of token. There are projects that are really good in the form of utilization. There are others too that arises and being known good specifically the defi projects. Uniswap was one of the best altcoin utilization where its project is working good as well. However, bitcoin is really the great coin of all in the crypto market.
