I believe bitcoin and democratic socialism can be reconciled. And I have some ideas on how to fix this broken system.
If you don't even have the right to live somewhere livable, what right do you really have? We need to redesign a system with some useful human rights.
So, if everyone had the right to a livable piece of land with water, that could not be taxed away from them, then everyone would have a chance at success. People could still buy and sell property past that minimum point like we do today.
So, everyone has a piece of land, ideally they build a decent home, and they can't be taxed out of it. Water is a human right, so they are provided that for free. Healthcare is a human right so the government creates a national healthcare system.
That is what true freedom would look like.
This way everyone, on their own land could use their time to produce whatever they'd like, and they could then trade freely amongst them. Since they wouldn't necessarily have to worry about losing it all, they wouldn't have to anwer to the corporations and work as wage slaves to the rich.
Eminent domain would still be a thing, but the definition of a useful piece of land would be clear, and a person could refuse and pass by equivalent pieces of land given by the government until an arrangement can be made.
Libertarian Capitalism could still operate on top of that base socialist layer.
In fact the greatest years of US economic growth were caused by socialist policies. The rich were taxed 93% and corporations paid their fair share. And slowly this got eroded away until we reached the point we have today.
