With bitcoin possibly on the way down ,and the free fall only beginning I wouldn't worry about 1 or 2 % points , get out before you loose 85% . I hope the small bounce bc took a few minutes ago isn't a dead cat bounce , but
I'm not holding my breath . I cashed out .

Have you tried Binance? They seem to be a pretty decent exchange to use and don't have that higher fees ...

I suggest you use an exchange like Bitfinex or Binance. Although I think binance has banned US users. I'm not too sure about that now but just to be safe don't use Binance if you are in the US. You could also sell to a local vendor

Coinbase Pro for US customers has some of the lowest fees to sell your bitcoin for USD. 0.5% but you need to be comfortable using a trading platform.

Binance p2p this is the most useful conversion to fiat with a decent rate. The verdict is only if they supported your fiat money. But they had a lot of supported currency already and directed to your bank.

I'm always using p2p and so far no regret on the fees and rates I've been exchanging it.

Exchanging BTC to fiat...who offers the the closest to mid-market rate and the lowest fees (if any)?
It depends on many factors. like where are you from. and which fiat currency you want to exchange your bitcoins with. I mostly use p2p and that works pretty well for me. the traders usually charge a small amount of fee and gives market rate for Bitcoin.
Binance p2p and localbitcoins are best among the p2p marketplaces. but you can do that here in this forum as well. you can also get paypal dollars for your bitcoins.

What's the difference between Localbitcoins and Binance?
Different platforms have different ToS and market operations.

The general rules for P2P marketplaces are there are lots of scammers and you will be scammers catch and steal money if you always want to find offers with too good rates. It is not too difficult to understand as scammers try to set up traps for greedy traders. If you are greed, you are readily to accept higher risks.

Binance Extends Zero Fee Promotion for P2P Trading to 2021/06/30. Zero fee on Binance was expanded to end of June 2021.

How would the scam happen considering localbitcoins uses escrow and I'm dealing in bank transfer?

What's the difference between Localbitcoins and Binance?
They're both an exchange but they are different in terms of classification. Localbitcoin is one of the few P2P (Peer to peer) exchange platform while Binance is the most popular centralized bitcoin exchange that exist. Its just Binance also implemented P2P exchange inside their platform. However, the best rates depends on what country you are living and how are you going to tackle issues with regards to your personal information as some of the exchange like Binance requires KYC/AML verification for you to be able to trade crypto to fiat currency.

Try to canvas the exchange price manually as most of them have different terms. Try using preev to instantly browse exchange rate from four different platforms.

Or perhaps try checking these P2P platforms if you are concern about not going for KYC/AML verification.

One thing your must realise is that, the crypto market is never steady, it's a constantly fluctuating market especially when your dealing with an escrow website or platform so, there really isn't any best price anywhere though, there might be a best fee. So, in my opinion, you have a go so long as your making profit. Sending coin from one wallet to another or from one escrow to another is just another way to a long trail of fees and that won't help your profit very much.

Exchanging BTC to fiat...who offers the the closest to mid-market rate and the lowest fees (if any)?
Binance exchange is the best one for changing coins to fiat, I used Luno for several years and I used to think that it's the cheapest until I give binance exchange a try and it was even better, though the difference isn't night and day but just better, every penny worths something I believe

Since you are focusing on BTC to fiat only if say it's binance exchange for sure but if it's normal cheapest transaction fee on exchanges the list isn't small, I would definitely start with tradeogre, as highly and cheap looking this exchange looks everything is well organized
