Can Avalanche surpass Ethereum?

I don't see this as a good way to issue a problem or about a new project. Agree that it is doing very well and can overcome the limitations on ETH, but that is not enough for it to overcome ETH. Ethereum has been too strong in the market, and indeed there are a lot of people who support and believe in it in the future. I dare you to say that after ETH 2.0 is completed, you will change your mind about whether ETH will replace bitcoin, please slowly feel it.

I don't think Ethereum has infinite supply anymore, on coinmarketcap it shows that the circulating supply is exact number with total supply which is 114,380,887 ETH available, this number haven't increase, you can see that yourself using the link below

Avalanche is big, it's not that hard to see but I expected avalanche to do better than Polkadot, presently we can see that things are going the other way, it's still too early to start putting avalanche and Ethereum head to head, I think the worthy opponent right now is Polkadot

I have made a list of arguments for and against Avalanche surpassing Ethereum:


Reasons why Avalanche will surpass Ethereum:

• Better tech because Avalanche is using Avalanche consensus: better scaling, better decentralization, 4.5k transactions per second and fast transaction confirmation
• It is very expensive to use Ethereum for small transactions currently
• Avalanche is a capped asset (720,000,000 AVAX cap) – Ethereum has infinite supply
• Ethereum 2.0 will take much more time to develop. Plenty time for Avalanche to prove to be better
• Avalanche network is saving energy (green)

Reasons why Avalanche will not surpass Ethereum:

• Ethereum is big, famous and leading, everyone knows and uses it
• Developers won’t abandon Ethereum
• Huge funding for Ethereum

What it your opinion? Will Avalanche surpass Ethereum?

Every use cases that avalanche posses aren't new, I'm telling the fact that there are many smart contract project that have better utility than Ethereum but that still doesn't change anything, it's same thing with bitcoin, it's old and even BCH fix many issues that is affecting Bitcoin but do you see BCH at the first position?

Polkadot beats Litecoin, I'm guessing it's easier to say Ethereum can be beaten too but it won't be that easy, to Avalanche is still down under top 10 on coinmarketcap today, a long way to go and yes the project is a must buy and hold but I can't say if it will beat Ethereum, only time can tell

Don't forget that ethereum has an active developer community which you can't find on a similar crypto protocol. In addition, most of the components offered by Avalanche have been covered by ethereum. ethereum also has a large number of users, and I don't think they can easily shift to avalanche where not many are familiar with their technology

I’ll have to tell you that there is no way the AVAX altcoin surpass the market cap of Ethereum as Its not just a regular cryptocurrency that you can just buy and sell, Ethereum is a platform where developers can build their programs. A lot of new ICOs are built on the Ethereum platform and that's what makes it different from any other cryptocurrency. I see Ethereum as a technology that helps bring blockchain into each area of business in our current world.

In my opinion, it is absolutely impossible for Avalanche to surpass Ethereum, like you said Ethereum is big, famous, leading and huge funding.
It seems that reasons have confirmed that it is difficult for Avalanche to surpass Ethereum, it is not enough to rely on better tech to beat Ethereum.
Even now, Avalanche's ranking is still at number 40, very far from Ethereum's position which is in rank 2. But Avalanche is a good project, although
it doesn't go beyond Ethereum. But it is very worth buying, according to my research results Avalanche  can provide profit if we HODL until the end of

Avalanche is capable to be a big altcoin some day, it has good utilities that Ethereum never had but let's not forget that avalanche isn't the first of its kind, Ethereum have many contenders for many past years already, anything can happen for sure but it won't be that easy for any project to take the second position

Avalanche may have better tech, but overall, Ethereum is a well polished cryptocurrency, the downside for ETH is that it is indeed expensive when making transactions, honestly, it's my first time hearing Avalanche, I did a background check on Avalanche and it looks really promising, but as of now, I really don't think it can surpass ETH not only with its value but also its popularity.

and one more friend, the only reason that might make etherum lose to the avalanche is the fee and transaction speed. if avalanche can excel in transactions and fees can be cheaper, it is not impossible that etherum will lose. but for now etherum is still number 1.

Yes, when Ethereum can't get ready for ETH 2.0 in time, existing projects will be looking for better networks and Avalanche is leading here. Because Ethereum 2.0 was planned long ago but it will take so much time to be working. If it takes too long, new projects won't chose Ethereum to build on.

It could be, but I doubt that they can even take 50% of projects on ETH, I would say that 80% are still in ETH main net and the rest of 20% are split across several competitors including Avalanche.

There re a lot of projects right now that are fast and cheap transaction fees and yet they can't still compete with ETH as far as investments is concern. ETH is still the prime mover of Dapps and altcoin ecosystem. It will be hard to overcome that even in new projects are offering better solutions, just saying.

When you look closely at Ethereum, you will realize that one of the reasons why it kept growing and maintaining its competitive advantage is that, it offers a really user-friendly platform for new and upcoming projects to build on, enhance their services, attract the needed investors and migrate to their own blockchain if they want, in all terms, if the team of an upcoming project is skilled, thus with the aid of Ethereum platform, they will be able to grow their project to whatever height they want. Also, the Ethereum team are well experienced and ready to ensure the blockchain keeps functioning effectively, hence the reason for the ETH 2.0. In addition, another proof that Ethereum won't easily be overtaken by other projects is that, even with the high fees witnessed for a long time now, more people and projects are still going for its services while it keeps growing tremendously. Therefore, No, Avalanche will not surpass Ethereum.

Let's push avalanche aside for a minute and talk about Polkadot that have already defeat LTC, do you think it can beat Ethereum? I don't think so because everything that all these new altcoins have are present in Ethereum, adoption wise Ethereum can't be defeat like LTC, judging from Ethereum marketcap, team development and others

Why do people want to surpass ethereum? What will you achieve with it? Avax is a great project and creators are wise people who know what they are doing, they are planning far ahead as well, so if one day it becomes as big as ethereum, or even go higher, it will work better and cheaper and faster so it is a great project to have.

Think about it, anything that can be done on ethereum could be done on avax and be done a lot faster and cheaper, and there is plus more things you can do with it, so it makes sense that avax could surpass it if it is so much better right? Well ethereum is 10x better than bitcoin in that case, many things that can be done on ETH can't be done on bitcoin, bitcoin blockchain is weaker and a lot worse, but when you look at the marketcap it is not even remotely close to each other. This is why just being better doesn't mean being bigger.

Nothing is impossible in this world, Ethereum is better because of many few reasons but all those reasons can be shifted to another project, it feels like it's impossible only because there is no project that's as good as Ethereum yet

We can only think about this in the next two or three years to come. ethereum has been surviving the negative storm for over 5 to 6 years and it never drop below the required other. Avalanche is just a new blokchain project just like the rest that already made huge price movement on start up and during bull market. we will consider if avalanche has what it takes to surpass ethereum  if it can handle the amount of transaction in ethereum.

Ethereum has been here for awhile already and it's leading the altcoins market, even if there's a better tech than ETH, it won't get the support of the investors as they ETH to bring them more profit in the long run, it's not the tech alone that will make a project successful, it's more on the support of the people and since ETH was created early, it has gained a lot of supporters already.

Most project isn't really new, EOS, TRON or Polkadot are still using classical consensus and classical consensus is limited because it scales quadratical. You can have 100 nodes, it all works fine but if you have 200 nodes, it is already 4 times more difficult to reach consensus. If you have 400 nodes, it is 16 times more difficult. Classical consensus can't scale but Avalanche consensus can scale because every node is participating actively.
BCH has good feature but it's still limited. Avalanche had a dev, he was a BCH dev and works now at Avalanche because BCH is too limited. He made a good decision.

Lots of new altcoins that appear in the public with better technological advantages and promising concepts that are always compared to ethereum. But I think it's still too strong to be compared to Ethereum, because now Ethereum has found its best point. So it can't be compared for now

Indeed! There will be platforms with advanced features than ETH.
But it is the popularity of usage and the sustenance of their clients that will make a difference.
Also, it is how their respective devs are dedicated to advance their platform.
Some will wane their enthusiasm to build their project as time goes by.
Very few can survive the bottlenecks in the market. If you have no sufficient funds, you can easily drop off in the list.
I believe, that's the strong point of eth dev team. They have solid backing and more than enough funds to make progress.

One thing we should understand here is that we are in competitive world, that Avalanche is just trying to gain popularity with these strategies that Ethereum had already gained.
