I fucking hate to start threads like this one, but you know when you get that feeling in the pit of your stomach that you're in the process of getting scammed?  Yeah, well that's what it feels like right now.

I PM'ed iluvbitcoins looking to sell him some bitcoins, as he had a selling thread and I was looking to sell.  He PM'ed me back:

Hi there,

Are you still looking to buy bitcoin?  I have some for sale if you're interested.  Just let me know.

With PayPal?
How much do you want?

This was the next PM from him:

I'm looking for around $150 right now, but if you need any amount of bitcoin less than that let me know.  Thanks for responding!

And then--very stupidly, and I know this so don't remind me--I sent him the bitcoin.  Keep in mind that the above exchange of PMs was around 12 hours ago and I've not heard a word from him since then or received any PayPal funds.

I was even feeling generous:

I subsequently sent him more PMs as time passed:

The $100 in bitcoin I sent you has confirmed.  Please send PayPal, thanks.

Whoops--I guess what I sent you didn't confirm yet.  I haven't heard from you yet, but I'll gladly bump the fee to speed things along if you'll just get in touch with me.  Thanks.

Please contact me ASAP regarding the trade we agreed to.  I don't know why I sent the bitcoin first but I did, even though it hasn't confirmed yet.  Thanks.

And as of right now, the bitcoin I sent him has been confirmed on the blockchain.

I'm leaving him a negative trust until this gets straightened out.  There's no reason why he should set up a deal and then just disappear.  It's nerve-racking and inconsiderate at the very least, and who knows if he'll even send me what he owes me?

If this isn't resolved when I wake up in about 9 hours I'll fill out a proper scam accusation form.

I'm pretty sure this will be okay in the end.
I probably would have waited until the next day to see if they've come online and not taken care of their end of the trade before creating this topic. Not my money/Sats though so I can understand people doing things differently. I've gotten the impression your accounts are in vastly different parts of the world, so if they assumed you were waiting for the PP before sending funds they may have just crashed or be afk. I know a trade should be dealt with ASAP but not everyone does that unless specifically directed to do so.

Either way I'll monitor and hope this works out for the best.

Right, 24 hours would be the bare minimum to allow for someone to respond, however... if you're exchanging PMs about a deal and saying "right now" it's probably a good idea to warn if you're going offline for an extended period of time so I totally understand The Pharmacist's frustration. Hopefully this will get resolved.

This isn't the first time this has happend with iluvbitcoins - He's a bit all over the place, but he'll reply I'm sure, he's done a lot of deals worth way more than $100 and I believe is located in the EU.

I am(was?) in the middle of a small deal with him, or was thinking of it until just lately (not related).

Thanks.  I've done business with him once before, but I don't know much about him.  I did remove the neg I left on him after reading what you wrote, as I don't want to mess up his signature campaign if that even matters.

It's not that I mind waiting 24 hours or have no patience (though it might seem that way), it's that he seemed ready and willing to do the trade right when I agreed to the deal and sent the PM saying so to him--and then he just went away.  If that's not something a scammer would do, I don't know what is.  So that's why I'm a bit nervous and not just a little pissed off with the lack of communication on iluvbitcoins' part.  It's very unlikely he had a real-life crisis immediately after agreeing to the deal that's prevented him from communicating with me.

Anyway, I'll give him another 8 hours and then the negative goes back on his profile.  As of now he's got my money.

It isn't as stupid as you're making it out to be.  You already made the decision to trust him, so whether or not you sent first didn't really make a difference.  He could have charged back the paypal after you sent anyway, so you really didn't take much additional risk by sending first.  You should probably be a little more patient before going to this extreme with a trusted seller, but I've had pesky users complain and make scam threads over a 22 hour refund wait while being kept in the loop so I guess that's par for the course here.  If the $150 is of dire need to you, let me know and I can consider giving you a loan until you're able to resolve this situation.

It seems iluvbitcoins last logged in on January 14, 2021, 03:24:26 PM. Your last PM sent by today means he hasn't read your few PMs sent today. I don't think he will scam for 100$, who knows if he is in some problems. I can't see any red tag from you, perhaps you can wait one more day. If he does not respond during that time then leave negative feedback for warning. But personally, I believe this accusation will be resolved eventually.

Well, it's been over 24 hours since he PM'ed me, so I'm putting the negative feedback on his profile.  I've had no communication from him; he's got my bitcoin; and this is a piss-poor way of doing business.

You should probably be a little more patient before going to this extreme with a trusted seller, but I've had pesky users complain and make scam threads over a 22 hour refund wait while being kept in the loop so I guess that's par for the course here.  If the $150 is of dire need to you, let me know and I can consider giving you a loan until you're able to resolve this situation. 

We'll see how trusted he really is.  I have a hard time believing he's so incapacitated that he can't even drop me a PM to tell me what the delay is for.

And no, I would never take a loan from you and don't need to.  This is the world of bitcoin, and when people say "OK, let's do the deal right now" and then cease communicating after funds are sent to them, that should make anyone nervous.  I'm not being pesky.  I'm simply asking for a little bit of common decency when doing business.

I hope that it will be the case that iluvbitcoins is just away from the forum. Besides, 100$ worth of bitcoin is not that worthy of getting swiped up, maybe that guy will pay. Never seen a high ranked getting this frustrated for awhile now. I hope that this will be resolved.

That was a couple of hours before The Pharmacist made that last post so it's quite bizarre that iluvbitcoins who was in the middle of the deal and received money, then went offline for a day, then logged in but did not continue with the deal or refund or anything. Not sure if that's "high risk" (he can still make it right) but it's surely a crappy way of conducting business.

From my experience, there was a little communication time gap I think which is the reason but now everything has been resolved.
Off topic- I'm here because I thought iluvbitcoins impersonator on telegram has done something. The scammer who tried to impersonate nutildah to scam me, later changed username to theymos and now his username is- @iluvbitcoin
