Hi,

I have a GPU machine with 8 cards. A few years ago I used it for many things such as LTC and ETH.

These days ETH is going to proof of stake, and I am no longer interested in LTC. So is there any GPU mining out there or it is now only BTC?

I might sell it on eBay.

Thank you.

Hard to answer, your question is so vague  Cheesy

What's the model of your GPUs?

If you mined some LTC, I think it's old enough to not worthing mine anymore, but it's good if you know which model is your cards

LTC and Bitcoin are not mined with GPUs anymore, only asics (specialized machines to mine)
And with GPUs we can mine a lot of coins, the most important and profitable is ETH, and ETH is not going to POS in a few days as you said, it'll took some time, months or even years...

To mine ETH your cards have to be at least 6Gb models, which I doubt it is, but depending on models, you can mine ETC or another small coins

this is the BTC only section.

I asked to mods to move this to alt coins.

my guess is you have 3gb or 4gb cards.

if so you can mine kawpow at nicehash and auto convert to BTC

Any recommendation what can I use to wipe the hard disk? there might be some wallet information on it.

I would be tempted to run the miner for a while using HiveOS, Simpleminer or Nicehash OS and see what it earns.

If you really want to wipe your hard disk give this  a try : https://www.diskwipe.org/

Here is a better way to wipe your windows drive using only windows...and not some third party program...

You should never have wallets on a mining rig.  Only the wallet address you are mining too.
There are plenty of horror stories about people getting wallets cleaned out becuase they had wallets on non secured machines.

ETH going Proof of stake is not real, I have stopped believing every news that comes from Ethereum team, not until they eventually carry the mission out themselves, right now POW algorithm means everything to Ethereum and miners, I'm sure that Ethereum team won't implement POS anymore, the only problem here is the EIP 1559 which it's said to reduce miners rewards

Yes you can mine Ravencoin or Monero, even Ethereum Classic is minable with low end graphic cards, can you share the name of the gpus you have in your mining rigs? With the names you can use mining calculators like nicehash or Minerstat to know how much you will make with different algorithms

I can’t remember when I’ve seen mining so profitable with GPUs. Now is a good time to use GPUs or sell them. It’s just plain a good time to own GPUs. I wouldn’t let them sit around collecting dust if you have them. Fire em up or toss them on eBay like you mentioned.

I'm guessing the cards are too old to mention their names? I see few asking what the name of the gpus are but you don't bother to answer them, if you have free electricity there isn't nothing to worry about, now that Ethereum mining is so profitable its a good time to use rigs available
