I think it is time for the US to split into two countries. Neo-Marxist union of peripheral states and the capitalist union of inland states.
It would keep everyone happy. The Democrats from the GOP states can move to the socialist states and the Republicans from the socialist states
can move to the capitalist states.
Let's see how long the socialist states would survive.
The US is already split into 50 States (nations). They really need to do about 3 basic things:
1. They have all agreed in their Constitutions or in other founding documents, to hold the US Constitution inviolate. What they need to do is make the tenets of the US Constitution part of their Constitution in ways that these tenets can't be changed or eliminated, ever, regarding their State. Please understand that this doesn't include adopting the same kind of congressional, etc., operations of government that the US Constitution lays down for the US Government.
2. Then they need to withdraw all State people from every position in the US Government as it stands under the US Constitution. This way the US will stand empty of governing people. The States also need to pick up every authority allowed them by the 10th Amendment for essentially shutting down the US Constitutional Government.
3. Finally, the States need to activate the US Government as it was under the old Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation US Government never died. But they are limited in strength. Yet they united the States back then (1776), and STILL unite the States through the Constitutional government. Since the first Constitution Convention was supposed to strengthen the Articles, and this was accomplished by making the current US Constitution, now that the Constitutional Government is destroying freedom around the world, let the States use their authority to maintain freedom around the world, using the tenets of the US Constitution directly, and under the Articles to keep the State "bound" together, while getting rid of the US Constitutional Government, itself.
The US Constitutional government was set in place, under the Articles of Confederation, at a time when the USA needed strength to fight off the tyrany of other governments. We don't need this kind of strength any longer. What we need is freedom, and direct methods to directly control our State governments, as men and women who are self-governing.
EDIT: In the even that we need the US Constitution government for strength in some way, it can simply be placed on hold, in the same way the Articles of Confederation Government has bee... on hold since about 1789 when the Constitution was set in place. The States can agree to reactivate it, by joint agreement, when necessary.
