Protecting one's privacy has nothing to do with having something to hide or not. It is about wanting to protect your
right.
Also doesn't the government need to have a special warrant for that in order to do those kinds of surveillance towards any citizen? When it comes to privacy you have rights protected by the law and I don't think they monitor random people just because they feel like it.
In a perfect world with a law abiding government, that's true. But in reality the government has always been above the law and they do whatever they want including invading citizens privacy. They just have to use some scary words such as "national security". Haven't you seen the NSA leaks?
