I want to hear people's thought about self moderated bounty campaigns, are they even safe at all? If you've promoted any bounty project with self moderated strategy by the bounty manager please drop your end result experience here, thank you

Hope you aren't trying to join any bounty campaign that's self moderated? I never had a good experience joining one before, it ends up that the project is complete scam, ask yourself why a bounty manager would self moderated the bounty thread himself, what is he or she trying to gain or probably avoid? The first thing that comes to my mind is the BM will try to avoid any mean question but from the curios members, something is fishy, do not join

The BM is trying to avoid the questionnaires in the house  Grin Grin, honestly most scam projects use self moderating, if there is nothing to hide there won't be any need for such strategy, I won't join or promote such project

If the concept of the project is very good it's better to take a short, the self moderated part might not be to avoid paying hunters or to scam people, you can send a PM to the BM to ask why he used that, im sure everyone has different reasons for using self moderating

Check the bounty manager's reputation. If you have no idea who that bounty manager is then don't join. There can be good and bad reasons for why they do that.
The good reason - to avoid spammers on the thread.
The bad reason - to delete accusations against them.
But most likely, good bounties won't do that.

Can you share the name of this bounty OP? If the bounty manager is jr member and not well known it's dangerous to promote such project, also make sure you look deep into the project use case, if it's not good enough it's better to avoid such project, to me self moderated bounty thread is red flag

From my own experience, the bounty held by the project team or the bounty manager is no different, it's good or not the bounty depends on the project itself.
It remains how we look for bounties to follow

I suggest you should try asking a very good question the self moderated bounty thread, if the question is removed and left unanswered you don't need to be told that it's unsafe, do not promote such project, there are many reasons that you won't get paid

It's not safe. Self moderating campaign has more probability to be cheated by the team. I guess there are so many scam projects were coming from the self moderating campaign. They were only creating the fake bounties to get the free promotion. This is always happening so many times too.

There are no safe campaigns to join. Each campaign can turn into time wasting to several reasons (from scamming users and hunters on purpose, to being unsuccessful to raise funds and having no future).
Try answer by yourself, why do people make self moderating topics - to be able to control what is being posted there. Why managers wish to control PoA and report posts? See no reasonable purpose to do that.

Check how many posts were deleted. Many deleted posts is a red flag. I understand that some OPs tend to clean spams in a thread, but it is quite unrealistic that there would be many deleted posts.
It's either the dev wants to hide their shadiness or something worse.
Don't worry if you're not sure, we got reputated members here that should be able to help in those cases like LoyceV's website here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5167469.0
Just suffice enough info so that you would be able to track deleted posts.

My experience for account security and projects that are still not known to be valid is not on ICO or you can say that it is still in the indicated period of fraud I make a disclaimer note at the end of the tread that posts so that no party will give negative trust and if you experience a loss it will be borne along with the bounty hunter.

Self moderated bounties are red flag but to be 100% sure you have to do some diggings yourself, try to ask questions and see how the team of that project will reply, also judge the project with it's use case, you can even ask why the bounty is self moderated, there is nothing wrong in asking

Spamming cant be the reason to use self moderating on bounty campaign, all there is to submit by participants is their proof of Authentication Posts and simply few questions for the BM to answer, I'm sure that the BM is up to something that's not good, watch out for yourself

Be careful around such projects, in 2020 there was a project that plans to pay bounty hunters in ETH but the bounty thread was self moderated, because of the ETH paying part I was blinded and started promoting but luckily I head into scam accusation section on this forum and the project was already tagged as a scam

I have a much easier tool for this: LoyceV's Topic Details: highlight deleted and edited posts (forum wide).

I have participated in companies of this type. Alas, I cannot give examples as it was quite a long time ago. Some of them were conducted by respected members of the forum who only made sure that the topic did not turn into a trash can. Sometimes they didn't even have to delete a single message. But the bounty branch is one thing, I am more worried when the announcement branch is self-moderated.

never been on a campaign that is self moderated but theres two things running in my mind . one is that camapign manager is perfectionist , hates scams and spams and accept high quality members and the second is the manager or the campaign rather is scam because they dont wana hear accusiations and they will delete it for others to not see .

this is based on my own observation only and i can be wrong with this. when i apply i also foccus on other details and im not prioritizing this

I think thread starter create a moderated thread to prevent the thread from being spammed.  Of course the result of the bounty does not rely on the thread being moderated or not.  There are lots of unmoderated bounty thread that ends up scamming its participants.  So whether the thread is moderated or not, does not define the intention of the project owner/bounty manager of scamming its participants.

Whats being self moderated? Are you talking about the thread they do make or trying to moderate out something outside of this forum?
If yes, then that would really be always giving out that suspicious side of things where transparency will really be in question or would be behind on the curtains.
If i were you then its better to stay away on this one because you cant just trust up and put your effort and waste of your time in garbage like this.
You can choose into other projects yet lots of them are flooding out the market which you can really make a choice.
