You're pretty much just asking when the price will go bottom and when the price will go peaks or how to buy the dip and sell the rally.

Long term holders wouldn't watch their portfolio and current market since they believe the fundamental and future about the coin, they only wait for some years or the price hit their goals to sell it.

Timing is different for individual investors but I can tell you to get out when the project turns out to be a shit. The team failing to deliver or other legal instances. Just take a look at those who were long on XRP before. They ditched the coin when they realize SEC isn't joking around.

I don't need the policy to buy bitcoin and altcoin, especially if the price drops significantly, because I don't want to miss the chance to buy the coin at a low price. If we can buy the coin at a low price, we only need to wait for the coin price to increase, so we can sell it and take profit. But if you don't want to sell your coin at that price, you can still hold it for more, but you need to have patience and don't panic because the price will go up and down many times. Wait and watch is the right strategy right now. It is essential to always be patient when it comes to Bitcoin investments. We have to set some price targets for ourselves.
For example, I have now set myself a price target of $ 18000 for Bitcoin. If I hit this target, my next sell target will be $ 38000. Patience is the first condition of earning money

It should not be that. When you are aiming for the long term investment and what you see from the project should be the fundamental analysis. You must have done a proper analysis to make sure if you are picking the correct coin to be used as your long term investment.

It will not always work. It's a part of TA but you must know that the fundemantal of projects can be affected from the various things.
So many people are not able to determining how the potential of project for the long term investment.

That's the question that everybody has: when to buy and when to cash out ? The same applies for stocks.
If you believe in an altcoin than try to buy it at a dip: timing in the market beats timing the market!

To minimize losses, I personally set a stop loss at -25% and when an altcoin doubles, I cash out a little bit more than 50%. In this way, I have my investment back (with a little bit of profit).

I don't believe in technical analysis as everybody will interpret the graph in their own way and you will always be able to find a pattern in it  .

downside in a crash.

So lets say you have $10k, I would suggest putting $100, or $200, or even $500 in several small
coins that are promising with good teams.

Buying and holding (waiting) is the best way by far. You just need to be careful sometimes because some
coins will announce a swap and then maybe you have to send your coins back to an exchange that will do
the swap for you. But it does not happen that often. So generally you could buy some cheap coins and
put them in cold wallets and just go on holiday.

When to sell? Well, it depends what you want and if the project is still good or overhyped. Like I sold
Verge at 15 cents because it seemed very overhyped at the time and I was right. I bought it for like
0,1 Cents so that was a huge profit.

I also got Aave (Ethlend) and ChainLINK very very cheap and I have sold some, but kept some too
because they still look good.

Just dont get too greedy. Sometimes I sold too early. You may want to work with S/L but then you
have to leave the coins in an exchange. Which is always a risk.

of course you are right, since only a large investor can invest in expensive cryptocurrencies with minimal losses. But if we take into account the fact that the user invested in Bitcoin or Ethereum at the end of 2019 or at the beginning of 2020, the cost of which at that time was not too high, then today the profit of such an investor is very impressive.
