I think you could also asked it in this board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=234.0 but be very cautious as there are rampant scams going out there so better always use a trusted escrow. Good luck with it.

Sorry for my ignorance.
I believe that the risk involved in this business is quite large, so I would like to understand how advantageous this is.

What is the advantage or need to buy an account?
I've read around that certain account levels have more withdrawal and bonus benefits as well.
Or would it be more for KYC's sake?

Asking and playing with other people's accounts is asking for trouble. They will find out about that. And then you have the chance that they will lock the account and then you also lose your account plus existing balance. That is not worth the risk.
