Save America, Donald Trumps leadership PAC, had the following to say regarding the meeting:

"President Trump has agreed to work with Leader McCarthy on helping with the Republican Party become a majority in the House," the group said. "They worked very well together in the last election and picked up at least 15 seats when most predicted it would be the opposite. They will do so again, and the work has already started."

GOP really can’t move on from Trump (at least now), that’s been shown through the scandal relating to Cheney and her poll numbers dropping to 10-15% after she voted to impeach Trump.

If Trump can moderate himself, and avoid attacking his critics, there is the potential he will both be able to get out the vote of his base and avoid turning off moderates. Trump remains widely popular among Republicans, and he enjoys strong support among his base.

I don't blame McCarthy for meeting with Trump.

He lost them the Senate, but he is the reason for their gains in the House — which they know. Plus like, this isn’t normal in the sense of Republican voters still heavily backing Trump even though he isn’t the President anymore and he lost.

Typically when you lose you fade off into obscurity b/c your approval rate drops — Trumps did, but only heavily dropped among moderates and dems, not among Republican voters.

At least we’re living in historic times, right?
