Sacramento GOP reverses course, demands resignation of Proud Boy member

The member of the Proud Boys elected to Sacramento County’s Republican Party Central Committee has been told by GOP officials to resign his post or face expulsion.

Jeffrey Erik Perrine, whose election to the committee post was revealed Monday in The Sacramento Bee, says he was told by country GOP Chairwoman Betsy Mahan after the story was published that he had to resign because he had not sufficiently disavowed past statements he has made regarding immigration and other issues.

“They’re not even willing to allow me to be in the party because I’m a Proud Boy,” Perrine said in an interview with The Bee. “Betsy and the executive committee emailed me and immediately demanded my resignation.”


Nobody mentioned how pissed the Proud Boys were about being completely dissed by their leader, Trump.

Nah... look at the GOP senators trying to weasel out of Trump's impeachment trial. The outrage over the Capitol attack will fade, the base will push trumplings through primaries, and Proud Boys will still vote for GOP... I mean who else are they gonna vote for? Surely not Democrats. Third party candidates won't be happening on any significant scale.

This might weaken Republicans in some swing states like Wisconsin but I doubt it would be enough to flip Florida or Texas. It might be enough to allow
Democrats to keep the House in 2022.

The two-party system in the US is outdated.  You guys really need four parties:

- far-left socialists (AOC, Sanders, etc)
- centrist progressive social democrats/capitalists (Biden, etc.)
- centrist progressive capitalists (Rockefeller Republican types)
- far-right capitalists, religious fruitcakes, nationalists (MEGA, PB, Trumpers)

But Americans are all about 'winning', they don't care about democracy, or what their 'side' stands for.  
Both left and right just want to win, or at least fight the other side. Pretty sad to see such childish behavior coming from the members of congress.  
Banning people from social media, pointless trials to block people from participating in the democratic process?  WFT is happening to America?

PS. BTW, we have the same problem in Canada.  Although we get more diversification, we have NDP, Green Party, Parti Québécois, etc.

Trump may have been threatening to create a new party in order to leverage an acquittal in his impeachment trial. Reports are now saying that Trump is no longer considering starting a new political party, and is planning on helping Republicans regaining the House and Senate in the 2022 election.

Trump learned to moderate his behavior late in the 2020 election season, but this was probably too late to make a meaningful difference. If Trump holds rallies in targeted districts in 2022, and Republicans end up regaining the House, I can see Trump easily getting the Republican nomination in 2024. Many of the establishment Republicans are not happy with Trump today because his post-election behavior likely lost Republican control of the Senate.

They’re going to totally get out of this impeachment trial unscathed. Allowing McConnell to kick the can on this to the first week of February allowed republicans to just disregard this and to say that they don’t need to do anything now because the President is now gone and we need to move on as a nation.

We’ll see what Trump really thinks once the GOP senators really vote, cause if they squash this (as the vote today was just procedural) then it’s going to mean that Trump is still a force and will most likely going to continue being a force in the Republican party.

The words and actions of other Democrats (that Biden has not denounced) is even more divisive. Biden's actions in his first days in office is comprised of many executive orders that many Americans are opposed to. The delay gives Republicans time to unify against the Biden agenda. Biden's agenda is so unpopular, I would not be surprised to see some moderate Democrats voting to acquit.

I think if there was a trial immediately after the articles passed the House, Trump probably would have been removed from office.

If the House had moved to pass this even quicker, maybe like the day following the Capitol riots and then sent it over to the Senate immediately it would’ve forced there to be urgency. We do have more than 2 parties add Libertarian and it isn't much of a stretch to say that The Green Party (in all irony) lost Al Gore the American presidential election years ago.
It was tempting to vote for Jo Jorgensen.
