Hi everyone, i am new here and i wanted to ask you something.

There is a website that's called Netzwin . It's a betting site and i use it for a while.

Today i logged in my Coinbase account and i saw that someone sent me Bitcoin.

After i got an email it says that this is a gift from that betting site.

The question is may i get in trouble in future because of this? Because i really don't trust betting sites at all.

I need your opinion  Huh

This is the site that sent me Bitcoin, if you have experience can you check it? www.netzwin.com

I do not believe you will / can get in trouble just by receiving Bitcoin. I presume it's a small amount. There are no laws or rules in place that would prohibit one entity from sending another some Bitcoin What I would consider is the laws of your own country regarding online gambling. That could come into play if you would like to withdraw any funds that you have earned or gotten from that site because some countries have laws that consider online gambling illegal and therefore there would be no legal way for you to withdraw those earnings. And that's only if your country has those laws.

The other thing I would consider is security when doing any business with those sites. I am not saying anyone will steal anything from you by sending you bitcoin, but just living your info on there, your card details if they ask for them and such could pose some security risk in the future.

Good luck!

Coinbase will close your account for sure because they restrict all of their customers involving in any gambling activities because they have to obey the rules of US government. It may not happen all of a sudden, it may take weeks or months but once they recognize the source where you received bitcoins then they will sent you notice about account termination. Coinbase is basically a company from service so they actually have to follow the rules of US government and even in US each state got their own restrictions and legality towards online gambling activities.

IIRC lot of user's accounts were closed just because they send their rewards to Coinbase account from the gambling sites.

You can move your funds from the coinbase to the other wallet. If you want to gamble, you do not need to use all of the funds to gamble because you will risk losing all of the funds. It is better you use a small amount and do not try hard to gamble because all in all, gambling will eat all of your funds without you realize. Maybe you can learn trading to increase your funds, so you will have a chance to profit in the future. But if you want to store your funds in a coinbase, you need to follow the rules from coinbase.

if gambling is legal in your country you don't have to worry no law prohibits receiving a gift, however i don't like coinbase regardless, i suggest you find another equally a reliable wallet / exchange

Fixed that for you... By the way, i wouldn't be sure about not worrying. Coinbase has your keys, they controll your fund. It doesn't matter if your did nothing wrong according to your local law, if coinbase thinks you did something wrong they can seize your money and there's not much you can do about it (from a technical point of view).

@OP: move to an airgapped wallet, a properly generated paper wallet, a ledger or a trezor... Or if you don't hold a lot of BTC, go to electrum, wasabi, core, , armory, knots,...
Stay away from online wallets and exchanges...

In most countries we need to pay taxes on big gambling wins, however if you still hold bitcoins and didn't convert it into cash it might be different. I can't give you an exact answer for your problem, but I would only worry about it once you actually sell your coins. As long as you didn't make any profit in your local currency you should be fine.

Paying taxes for the gambling rewards is another issue but as long as the user holding any funds in coinbase is not recommended.

Just use google search and find how many account closed by coinbase for such reasons.

You may or may not get in trouble for now, but I suggest you stop using your coinbase account to receive Bitcoins from gambling sites. Their terms and conditions are quite clear on gambling.
What I suspect could happen is if they detect that you received money from a gambling site, they can easily block your account and freeze your funds,

I am a little bit suspicious here. I never heard that any gambling site just send money as a gift, without any notice. You must have some explanation from them as to why they gave you the gift.
Usually, casino if they want to spend some money on the giveaway, probably would just add it to your balance on his casino.
Next, how they know for your Bitcoin address on Coinbase? shouldn't they have first asked for some confirmation from you that it's a good address and that you still have access over it?

In the end, are you sure you are in the right place when you log into Coinbase? that you are not on some phishing site?
Did you try to withdraw this money somewhere outside of Coinbase?

And that means, he needs to get out his money from coinbase as soon as he can. Just like what others have suggested, move it while the exchange is not realizing yet where those bitcoin comes from. Since it was transferred Jan 27 or maybe few hours as of this writing, better convert it to other coins and transfer to your wallet or another exchange or just directly send your bitcoin to other wallet. It is very clear from their terms and conditions about their take on gambling activities. Hope the OP will read the replies and make a move soon, before it is too late.

Even if they terminated your account still you will be given access to withdraw your funds but after that your coinbase account will be closed permanently so no need to worry much about it now but still there is a potential for getting terminations.

In the end, are you sure you are in the right place when you log into Coinbase? that you are not on some phishing site?
Did you try to withdraw this money somewhere outside of Coinbase?

I've been playing live Casino games here for a while and i really spent a lot of money.
I think that's why they've sent me Bitcoin

Right, I believe you. But did you try to withdraw money from Coinbase?
This situation sounds very fishy to me. I would try to withdraw that money elsewhere, just to be sure. There where many frauds schemes where you have an unexpected balance on your wallet, but if you want to withdraw it, first you need to deposit some Bitcoin there. I hope it's not your case.

I am a little bit suspicious here. I never heard that any gambling site just send money as a gift, without any notice.

Add me to the list of those to whom this story doesn't seem convincing, no matter what, money does not fall from the sky - except when someone climbs a skyscraper and decides to throw banknotes for some strange reason Cheesy

Next, how they know for your Bitcoin address on Coinbase? shouldn't they have first asked for some confirmation from you that it's a good address and that you still have access over it?

Another good question, this transaction could very easily have ended at an address that the OP no longer controls at all. Either way this seems to me like a great promotion for a site that the OP has linked to - but at least for me the site doesn't open - it asks for passwords, and it's restricted...

I tend to agree with those replies above that OP seems trying to get a promotion here in the forum or no matter what is the purpose of OP's question, it seems not convincing at all.

I visited the site, it required me to log in (which is I didn't try), even the gambling site itself I can't trust but that is a different story here.

I need your opinion  Huh

Okay, let's assume that you've convinced me and I answer this question and here is my suggestion.

First, try to withdraw the Bitcoin that you received from the gambling site, because as I can see from the screenshot, "You received Bitcoin from an external account" I didn't see there saying it came from the gambling site.  Sometimes gambling companies didn't use the same wallet that easy to recognize, they generate different Bitcoin addresses.

If you will able to withdraw, you can use the Bitcoin mixer and transfer your Bitcoin into a clean wallet that under your control, not on Coinbase.

If he is telling the truth then there is no need to use the bitcoin mixer at all because its from a gambling site and which is not source can use legal actions, so just withdrawing to the own wallet will solve everything. But if the user is from US then he will be facing issues with crypto trading in case of account termination.

I too don't believe the story of OP because even people who wagered few hundred bitcoins in aby gambling site don't get such complimentary rewards. Roll Eyes
