And it shows GDDR6x on 3080 & 3090 can reach 110C when mining Eth. Yikes!

which = death to the cards in under 1 year at those temps.

After seeing the readings I down clocked all my 3080 units

That is max safe temps for gddr6x which runs way hotter than plain gddr6.  Definitely not a good temp to be running at 24/7 though.  Grin

Are you talking about RX5700 or the RX5700xt? I'm trying to buy some cards right now and I don't want any heat issues that will short the life span of my gpu, maybe I should get the RX5500XT instead? I plan to use this for over 5 years in future

As expected. Such panic with AMD GPUs was just because it was unknown before. Why NVIDIA GPUs must be another? I think that RX480-580 and 1060-1080 are working with the same temperatures, we just dont know about it. Continue mining, sell your old GPUs, buy new and be happy.

well said, but the problem is cooling design.
mostly in older gpu`s memory is cooled by air.
Now we have memory chip covered by any kind of plate and thermalpad, witch mostly cant provide proper heat transition to the plate.

Good to know, didn't know about this new update of Hwinfo

I'm used to monitor Navis temperatures, 5700, xt and 5600xt, and it is always on the 90ºC to 94ºC maximum

I just checked my EVGA 3080 Black, and it is running at 92ºC , so nothing to worry here, but my 3060ti from Galax didn't show temps, I think there's no sensor on memory

Will check my Asus 3070 soon, but I think it's good too

As far as I know, safe temps to run are maximum 95ºC, obviously it's better to run less than thin, but let's be honest, it's almost impossible to mine with these cards and reduce temps without Run fans at 100% or disassembly and change thermal pads.

This is the same model I have of EVGA, but I didn't put any fan directly on backplate, only installed on a pc with good airflow and the temps are the same as you
Can you post a picture of how you did this?

And I want to compare the models with backplate, to see if there's any difference in memory temp between our model without bp

long time ago i measured rx 470-480 memory temps manually with my gear. it is 10C more that shows for gpu. If miner shows 60C then memory is 70C

my 3080 is EVGA ultra gaming XC3.  5700s or 5700XT is the same pretty much
-ASUS dual fan = terrible
-XFX 5700XT tri fan = okay
-ASrock 5700/XT = less than okay but not as terrible as the ASUS
-Sapphire Nitro 5700s = Best cooling.

So here are some examples:

Re-padded Gigabyte OCs 3080 with Thermal Grizzly 8 Pads:
98°C, 98°C, 94°C, 96°C

Stock ASUS TUF OCs 3080:
100°C, 104°C, 106°C, 104°C.....

I dont like that. Should I consider doing a pad replacement on the ASUS, too? Worry about warranty.

LOL some of this gpus might stop working during or after summer. if you really think about it nvidia didn't make this gpus for mining, they are for gaming and gaming only takes a few hours a day.

is this both pushing the tech (competition) to beat amd and also making the gpu turnover faster (sales) due to failing gddr6x? we will see hehe
