Months after the killing of innocent Nigerian youths exercising their fundamental human rights at the lekki toll gate by some members of the Nigerian army on an executive order, more deaths have followed. Not at the hand of the pandemic, but this time as a result of the clash between members of "Eastern Security Network" (ESN) and the Nigerian Army leading to more deaths both from direct and indirect gun fire,  and loss of properties in the eastern part of Nigeria. The crisis had been brewing since last week after an altercation between ESN members and the police resulted in death and a viral video of members of the ESN celebrating in a police vehicle they confiscated surfaced. Economic activities in the state have been really affected as a dusk to dawn curfew has been instituted.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Well don't know much about Nigeria, other than all the news seen about murders/kidnappings/bombings ects. and of course social media news of about the same, so if the 2 correlate, the believability goes up. Nigeria and Africa overall is run by (pardon my French) a bunch of buffoons. It's almost all bad news, i wonder if Africa has any safe havens? or is it all this bad.. Definitely can understand why citizens are mobbing up on officials/police and anyone else they can get there hands on, it's just a big ol'poop-storm.

https://news.yahoo.com/nigerias-president-buhari-fires-armed-152224146.html
at least some good news, the president fired the same "War Chiefs" he himself appointed, is it like a dictatorship where he has no advisors so he gets the final word ? any Nigerians here ?

Something has to make up for the lack of Covid deaths, because Nigeria uses hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) nation-wide. After all, people will look at the increased deaths, but not look at why. They will think it is from Covid. Nigeria and some other African nations have so few Covid deaths that they are hardly noticeable... because of their standardized use of HCQ in their countries.

To the best of my knowledge, the Nigerian Government most especially the APC LED Government sitting at the top (central) which of his called the federal government..has done a whole lot of extra judicial killings to the east, now everything going back to them, they have started killing themselves the north.. Nigeria has fallen apart..

fake news? Why these youngsters got killed? Do you know the reason? If this is real, those people's family will allow it? I heard that there're many criminal camps in east of China? Is it true too? Huh

If I must comprehend what you just said, you mean to say the incessant deaths happening in Nigeria are all fake? Are you for real? Please make me understand what you’re actually insinuating people have died and lost their loved ones all you could say is these stories were fake and planed? If this is your stand I mullet say I’m disappointed anyways like it is often said we all are entitled to our different options.

The way people die in some parts of this country is really alarming, due to cultism and other related activities, and our government don't do anything to reduce the rate, believe me youths are dying even more than adults, what happens to tomorrow, when  the leaders of tomorrow are dying today, it's sad but we pray for a better nation, a Better Nigeria that will prioritize the life of every  Nigerian whether rich or poor, a Nigeria with a better security and a better future for our youths

The masses of death in nigeria has turned into something that has to be taken importantly, I know that no one can stop death but we all can love each other and celebrate each other too, there are so many opportunities in nigeria which we in the society can have a good and standard living in our generation today, but our leaders don't always have time to listen to us, and always do things that always brings happiness and joy to them only, regardless of what the people in the society are facing.

Well, I will first of all say a big thank you so much for the creator of this topic, dead is the number one thing that is happening in our society today, and from my point of view this is lack of support and cares from the government ( leaders) lack of job can bring dead to the nation's, because if there be no provision and love among the leaders which are governing us, there will be so many terribles things that will take place in the society.

The way killings are happening is Nigeria,is alarming and the government don't care on how to keep the country is a peaceful state,it is so annoying. Nigeria leaders put themselves above the law and the security arms also do whatever they like and don't fight to justice due to corruption.

It is a new year and killing in the east is just too early to start the year with. All these are happening because of the upcoming election on February 25th. The army should go to the ESN camps to arrest them and not puting curfew to deprive the people from living their normal lives

Nigerian killings are no longer limited to the east because every region of the country has undergone radical change. This killing was the worst thing that most Nigerian citizens who reside abroad fear, leading to their nationalization, and the APC regime was worse than any other regime at the time because its citizens were only concerned with protecting their family's lives and property while ignoring those who fought for them to become what they are, Nigeria really needs good leader and prayers.

The problem of Nigerians is bad leadership, our political elites see politics as a miss of livelihood, they are ready to do anything to attend the position they want.
Our political leaders does not have the interests of the people at heart only to enrich themselves.
Presently there is  political revolution going on in Nigeria which all of us hope it will turns things around for the people of Nigeria

The problem of Nigeria is simply bad leadership. The government have failed to to fulfill its campaign promises and it has led to so much tribal agitations. The people are tired of empty promises that is why they are agitating. The issue of the killings at Lekki toll gate is still fresh in our memory because nobody have been held accountable for the killing of many harmless youths that were shot while singing the country's national anthem. The only offense they committed was that they were protesting against police brutality. The report by the committee set aside to investigate the killings have been dump and forgotten.

The issue of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) is quite complicated. They are the military arm of the secessionist group called the Ingenious People of Biafra (IPOB). The group was born out of the cry of marginalization by an ethnic group in Nigeria. The IPOB wants the Igbo ethnic group to have their own country because they feel that they are not treated equally in Nigeria. The ESN was created to carryout guerilla warfare against the police and the military that kept on victimizing and persecuting the members of IPOB. Currently the ESN are now out of control because they now engaged in diverse criminal activities which has negatively affected the economic sector of so many states.

I was shocked to hear this news, I know there is no way to stop it, I can only say that I am glad I was born in a country without war, and I am also worried for the citizens of Nigeria, a country is poor and rich is not the most important thing , is to ensure the safety of citizens.

Deaths caused by gun-fire in the eastern part of Nigeria is not a new case anymore as the country is currently experiencing serious case of insecurity and this has lead to different groups of bandits or people claiming to be Revolutionist that are fighting for course that is beneficial to themselves only and in so doing putting innocent lives in danger.

Nigeria is no doubt called the giant of Africa because of the massive population in the country and this population and ethnic difference in the country and this too is a major component of the killing in the country. The country is divided in terms of unity and diversity has caused so many issues for the people and the government, for me I just feel the nations needs to be united in order to stop most of the problems its facing.

The killing of innocent people in Nigeria is unfortunate and alarming. But what are authorities doing in this regard? Are they just sleeping or taking any action against the same? I think this matter should be taken to the United Nations, and the UN must take strmeasuresents to eradicate these injustices and inhumane acts against innocent citizens.

One of the problem is diversity of the ethnicities just like you said but the major one is lack of reasoning resulting to nepotism. Nigerians prefer having an amateur from their ethnicity in position of authority than the expert which will do a perfect work from other ethnicity or geographical location.

Inasmuch the round pegs are not put in the round hole in the country and people don't see governance as competence thing and but ethnicity thing, the country will keep having wrong leaders who will be making things from bad to worse year in year out.

Once the stop playing ethnicity and religious card, things will start going in the right places that will see the country's cumulative problems solved.

I am a Nigerian but I am not aware of this news. Could I be that my head was occupied by high cost of transportation and high cost of goods and services that I didn't notice the news.
Anyways, the people concerned in this killing are two security operatives.
One is legal which is Nigerian Army and one is illegal, created by a militia group clamouring for independence from Nigerian state.

The story is more than as presented by OP.
This is not Nigerian problem but problem created by a certain group called Ipob

People die over unnecessary things, we really have to be careful, heard about a man killing his wife and child over a loaf of bread.
People die even in marriages, you see people die because of marital assaults and domestic violence,
We just need to be careful, because this time people die and their murderers go freely .
