Not your keys, not yours.
Some wallets apps give you access to the private key, but they may be able to see or manage the private key on their side, Don't trust them.

I don't think Luno is a wallet though, it is more of an exchange imo. Maybe you should differentiate further what constitutes an online wallet and which one is an exchange before making the list. If you still believe that Luno should be listed, then technically any exchange would be eligible too since they offer "wallet" services.

OP coinbase has 2 products that can act as wallets. One is custodial, and the other is noncustodial

1. Coinbase.com (Simple exchange and custodial wallet) - https://www.coinbase.com
2. Coinbase wallet (Non-custodial wallet) - https://wallet.coinbase.com

You can set up an account with the second one independently and even back up the seed. maybe am missing something, How are keys/seeds stored by a third party?

Coinbase Wallet also backs up your seed phrase (encrypted) to either Google Drive or Apple iCloud, so if anyone guesses your password to whichever one of these services you are using, they can access your seed phrase and therefore your coins. It's a huge security risk and completely negates the point of backing things up offline.

You can see from their FAQ pages here:
We built an encrypted Google Drive and iCloud recovery phrase backup feature to help protect against seed loss.

I think Jaxx should be added to the list, see my post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5236435.msg54130484#msg54130484

It also appears that Zumminer's website is not working. The homepage is showing something regarding Plesk (their hosting control panel).

Luno walletprivate keys are stored by a third party No
Never mind my opinion. Luno may seem like Coinbase.com, but Luno is not even a custodial wallet, it is an exchange. I lately checked it on coinmarketcap and see it to be the 157th exchange according to exchanges trading volume.

...
Coinbase encourages people that do not know how risky to backup on online/clouds exactly just like you commented. I hate coinbase because of this. Also, I hate coinbase because it is difficult for many newbies to know the difference between coinbase.com, coinbase pro and coinbase wallet app. But, upon opening coinbase wallet app, it will give you choice to either backup online or manually, manual backup will only let you to save the backup offline just like the way you do recommended.

Other reasons I hate coinbase wallet app
It has a username, and not only that, they are also encouraging it to be visible to other users.

Coinbase will not have to make governments suffer from compromsing users privacy, what is the difference between governments telling exchanges users to register their noncustodial wallet with the exchange they are using and this one, they are just the same thing. Many people will press connect to coinbase which is just a simple way to automatically register the coinbase noncustodial wallet. No privacy.

Wow. I've never used the Coinbase wallet app, given my ongoing (and very vocal, heh) disdain for the company. But these "features" that you have highlighted are worse than I thought. Obviously backing up your seed phrase online is a terrible idea, particularly to a cloud service like Google Drive or iCloud, which are frequently hacked, have unknown security and access protocols, will be duplicated to an unknown number of servers around the world, and once it is uploaded will never be deleted from their back ups. But they now "recommend" that users give away what little privacy they have left when using Coinbase products, by linking their wallet with their KYCed exchange account (allowing Coinbase to link all your coins and transactions to your real identity in real time), and by adding your name and wallet details to a publicly searchable database. What a massive privacy and security risk. What next? Perhaps a Facebook like feed where all your friends can watch every transaction you make in real time?

At least Coinbase users don't have to worry about any new government regulations coming in, since Coinbase have already gathered every possible piece of information about you in to one easily accessible place on the government's behalf. Roll Eyes

Any idea about Coinomi?
Coinomi gives you the seed phrase and you have control over your fund.
The problem is that coinbase is closed source and we don't know if our seed phrase is stored in their server or not. There is no guarantee that you are the only one who has access to private keys.

Same thing, Coinomi is closed source and user don't know if he's the only one with seed phrase.

Although Coinomi gives users full control of their money, it should be noted that Coinomi has admitted that they are/were sending seed phrases to Google to check the spelling of the words. The recovery phrases are encrypted when transmitted, but that has still led to the loss of funds in one case that was discussed on this forum 1-2 years ago. Apparently, it was a Google employee who intercepted the seed phrase and stole funds from someone. I am not sure if it's something that Coinomi has patched in the meantime.
