But if yiu invest for a long time then whenever you invest  you will make profit in long term. But if you are not new I would suggest first learn about this market and till then invest in big coins and do some research. But if I have 100$ I would go with 50-60% bitcoin anothrr 20-30$ altcoins. If you have funds of $1000, why don't you try to enter into alcoin which does have a small value now such as qtum, sfp and dot coin which are predicted to have a fairly high price in the future, we can see how qtum, sfp has price movement that is quite active in the market and continues to experience a fairly positive trend, I really have enough confidence in these three altcoins to continue to grow.

At first I thought like this, and that's beyond what I thought and prices continue to increase. On certain coins such as bitcoin and eth i think this option is still quite right to buy.

Dot is not a small coin, it is actually one of the biggest coins in the world right now. Which is why I think it is quite important that you put that into another one. I agree that if you want to make money right now, you should probably want to invest into small coins that has a huge chance to go up, of course that would be a lot riskier and that is why it is not simple and it should probably lose a lot of money if you are wrong about them, but you can't make a lot of money without risking your money that way.

However if you do not want to lose a lot of money from risking too much and fine with making less money but being secure, you should probably go with high level coins, Dot is one of them, BNB, ETH, BTC are all like that, they will not lose you a lot and will not earn you a ton from now on neither. Of course, a bear could come and that means NO coin would be good.

My suggestion is that you allocate a percentage to alt coins which you feel have potential (perhaps 30%) and the rest invest in major coins from this list Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, LiteCoin, Monero, ETH Classic, Ether  . I can see that during today's Market corrected strong points, the actual user base of ADA and ETH has changed dramatically on the chart shown this time.  ADA starts earlier and has the fastest recovery rate.  ADA, although up ~ 1000%, still has very high practical potential.  ETH is still the number 1 coin for altcoins (ethereum 2.0 version coming soon). 1000 $ is difficult to go with bitcoin and not profitable.  Consider ADA, ETH, or ONE.

If I was just starting to invest into crypto right today and right now, I would buy Bitcoin, BNB, CAKE and possibly Monero. Why Bitcoin? Well its obvious to tell again. Why other altcoins? BNB is going great with Binance Smart Chain and its future seems bright to me. I like functionality with BNB will many different things like launchpools etc. CAKE is my literally favourite DeFi project which is working on Binance Smart Chain. Its APRs are very high.
