A new gaming laptop with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU has demonstrated good performance in mining Ethereum. The overclocked graphics card was able to reach 48.99 MH/s. This is evidenced by posts on the Tieba Baidu forum.

The results are comparable in speed to the RTX 2080 SUPER PC video card and 19% slower than the new RTX 3070 desktop, writes VideoCardz.

You can indeed use any machine, but usually, the laptops' airflow design is not made 24/7, and the laptop itself is wearing much faster.

I wouldn't ruin a gaming laptop for mining. I tried a year ago on 2060 mobile with Ryzen - it was unbearably noisy.

I would be afraid it may break before getting to ROI. Laptops are not made for such heavy task for such long periods of time. And they are are also expensive for what they do.
So no. Interesting as experiment, but overall, bad idea.

the technical potential is there, good results could be achieved in mining ethereum but laptops are not really suitable for this kind of work there is a great risk of breaking it, melting it

Gaming laptops are different from regular laptop, you might get away mining with them because they are designed to be more robust. Only issue I can see is the battery getting hot and bulging, hence best just to remove it while mining.

Since GPUs are sold out everywhere, people are buying Desktops and Gaming Laptops with certain GPUs. The pricing for GPUs on eBay and Craiglist has gotten so out of hand that sometimes its cheaper to buy a desktop with a GPU included than buying the GPU itself. I remember a few people did this back in 2018 with some Dell gaming desktops. The GPUs were out of stock everywhere but Dell gaming desktops were usually in stock.

You don't want to use such high end laptop for mining, aren't you scared of breaking something on the motherboard? If it's a cheap laptop you can still risk it based on the fact that it's cheap but a laptop with RTX3060 will cost over 2000$ right now, don't even think about mining on that thing

You will shorten the laptop lifespan if you use for mining for too long, you can only mine juts several hours on that thing without burning the motherboard, the heats coming from gpu when mining isn't something you want to see on laptop, it's not recommendable for mining

In fact, as shown in the picture, I'm just using the 3060 laptop to mining ETH. it can give about 45Mh/s within 62° and 85w.

https://sm.ms/image/6n9vf21AB5y7wML

It looks like pretty well.

BTW, this model is Hasee Z8-CA5NS. It only cost ¥6400(about $990) few days ago. So with the enough low temperature and watt, i think perhaps it's a good and safe choice to minine the ETH.

A crazy idea to use a gaming laptop with high specifications, for mining. An activity that is risky. besides causing damage to laptops faster than laptops with normal use, it is feared that they will not give a commensurate advantage if mining is carried out.

Do not mine on the laptop, if you have to mine I'd say play some heavy game on the laptop and use a software to look at it's °C Temp when gaming, if it's up to 70°C then you can use it for mining, it means the laptop was designed to handle such heat, also before mining download msi afterburner and lower the rtx3060 cclock and memory clock to lowest, this will gives less heat and draw less energy too, I'm sure the hashrate can increase, downclocking won't affected the hashrate, drop your result here later

thanks for new info, i need grab rtx 3060 as soon they hit market before everyone aware lol

48mhs should be doable, my prediction at 45mhs, with price only 279$ on 6gb varian is good deal either for mining, scalping, gaming

nothing go wrong buying this without any review from mining performance

It's better you get a separate graphics card for mining, using a laptop isn't good, could work but damage the laptop motherboard as time goes on, you need to see how hot desktop graphics card gets when they are been used for mining, they are very hot

Nice buy. I think a 3060 graphics card in retail stores will be $ 800-900.
But I'm wondering what will happen to your laptop 1 year after mining.
How many months is your laptop warranty?
Have you measured your electricity consumption from the wall?
