They are hard to find and to think of. Most of the low cap coins can easily be said as just another contender until everyone starts buying it. I guess I would always be in the middle of it and they're starting to show and get the attention of everyone.
But to know what could go x100 for this year in alts, it's just difficult to say.

I prefer to buy new altcoins that are only traded on decentralized exchanges. But it is necessary to conduct your own research of the project, a prerequisite for which is the availability of a working product. It is risky. Small caps is high risk, high reward too.
I experienced this before, I am really eager to find a hidden gem, with small caps obviously. But the more I seek for hidden gems, the more I lost, like if you already hold Bitcoin and try to diversify it to some altcoins, the profits or returns is much higher than buying some altcoins.

it takes large volumes to reach x100 it takes time and many investors to achieve it a lot happens in trading when the market is in a very good state it must have a chance to reach it if the trade is still low it will be difficult to get x100 in an instant in crypto it takes time and volume great for achieving all of that.

I quite agree with you mate, but I did say that it's not every one that can afford to buy this popular coins or tokens in large quantity enough to bring good returns, as they all become very expensive, and do not forget that this one we call popular today did not just became popular overnight, there was a time when they were low cap coins like the ones mentioned above, and the people who believed in it and bought them that time and were able to hold it until they became popular are very rich now, so it's the same logic, if we are able to find a coin or token with great potentialz and buy into it now that they are still worth close to nothing, in the future when they become popular, we will all make good money from it.

@OP budget is low, a $100 investment can't buy much with some of the well known projects in the market, hence why he his looking to buy low market cap coins he thinks will make x100 even though it sounds  unrealistic,  he is pretty convinced.
Nobody knows what this year hold for crypto, btc already gave a sneak pick what might happen, perhaps this year bullrun will be as good or better than previous.

You better don't go on exchanges to buy altcoins simply because they have low marketcap, some of them won't surge because real use case is the only thing that sure the most right now, the altcoin season of 2021 will be different from the one in 2017/2018, it's all about utility and use case of the coins and tokens not just hypes

Avoid investing on the low market cap coin if you can't afford to lose your capital because the confidence in the investment are going to be a lot less than investing in coin which is already in the success phase. And tokens are not here for a very long time so personally, I won't consider them it can become another bitcoin someday.

My best bet for 2021 is UNISWAP and Monero! The reasons are simple. UNISWAP is just few months old and it has reached 13th position within a very short time. Their swap interface is super easy for even newbies to use and hence they are gaining more prominence. I had actually mined few coins through liquidity mining when it was open and bought some at 4 USD! Look at the price now!

Secondly, I see XRP as a very useful coin because of its privacy features. With the upcoming crypto ban in my country, many will be forced to adopt XRP to hide the trail of their crypto assets! I am also glad that I can mine it using my Ryzen 9 CPU!

This is very funny, you are giving advice to people who have already entered this forum, please note that the current market is much bigger than the market conditions in 2017, and I think the OP knows this because he entered the forum last year 2017, so it's a little different from those of you who entered this forum in 2020.

The only guarantee is with expensive Altcoins you wont ever buy a lambo. And if they crash you lose 95% of your funds. The mass does very very stupid crypto investments.

You want to be like EARLY bitcoin and ETH investors not like those who bought eth for $1400 2 years ago. They would have made more money staying in USD lol

A project like Koinos could go from page 30 on Coinmarketcap to page 1.

Monero and uniswap, i mean surely they could rise. Both are very good and accepted. But they are already page 1. Even if they go up, have you done the math if they could still go x10 or x20?
