It is a very successful and popular coin with almost non-existent development. The number of users has multiplied and using Dogecoin Core is becoming more cumbersome and problematic. There will come a time when it cannot be used.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. I have seen tips of thousands of Dogecoins. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

AFAIK, the authors doesn't create any clients for altcoins. You can just fork the source code for both the servers and the client and modify it to suit your coin.

The GitHub repo for the Dogecoin doesn't seem to be very active at all. There hasn't been any new releases for over a year now. You'd probably want to focus on that first before tackling the SPV wallet problem.

Dogecoin needs a proper SPV wallet for many years now. There was Multidoge in 2014, but now we are in 2021...
@dogemoon: your best bet would be to convince fellow Doges to get Electrum source code and modify it for Dogecoin network (or to make another SPV wallet). The problem is that also something like ElectrumX server is also needed for this (adapted and hosted), since that's the part that actually interacts with the blockchain.

so this is the key, the server, since all problems come from synchronization. Multidoge could work well with this system.

I think it could be doable. I am amazed that there is no popular Electrum Dogecoin yet.

I was reading, dogecoin is a fork of litecoin, which is a fork of bitcoin code. So it could be done with some changes, like Electrum Cash or something like that.

https://github.com/electrumalt/electrum-doge last post I found was 6 years ago, so it is certainly not a good option.

For fear of being "dogpiled" (excuse the pun)... why invest so much effort into developing a wallet for what is really just another "pump and dump"? Huh

Sure the price spiked to an ATH... and now it is slowly decaying back down to it's "regular" levels.

Dogecoin needs a proper SPV wallet for many years now. There was Multidoge in 2014, but now we are in 2021...

Unfortunately, this is a very big problem.
When I saw the price pump few days ago, I remembered that years ago I had collected DOGE in Multidoge. I found the old wallet.dat and installed Multidoge to get my coins back. I don't know what was the reason, but if I had waited for the synchronization it would probably have taken a year. Fortunately, I was able to export the private key and pulled it out via the wallet in https://my.dogechain.info/
I wonder how many people will never succeed to recover coins..?

Exactly, the recent pump and pump  was just like that, several groups collude which each other and pump the meme coin for as much as it's worth, and they've probably converting it to bitcoin before depositing to their wallet.

And most Doge holders are probably holding in it an exchange anyways. If ever there was a plan to create a SPV, it should definitely happen years ago.

I am a living example of KeepKey & ShapeShift Pre-Segwit DOGE nightmare.
I am begging any one for a Electrum DOGE wallet server PLEASE
I have mined & stored DOGE on a KeepKey hardware wallet over 4+ years = 760 transactions = 100,000+ DOGE
Some times it loads some times it doesn't on their platform
ITS A FREAKING NIGHTMARE
Whether it loads or it doesn't, I still CANT SEND IT
Says Error building transaction

I am begging the DOGE devels to PLEASE ADD the Electrum ability to the wallet or allow importing of keys for hardware wallets or ANY THING

But I am a perfect example of a 2+ week issue that they can not resolve

I had to do the exact same thing for my BTC LTC DASH BCH & Electrum in order to send anything Pre-Segwit & that junk KeepKey

Any help is appreciated

Sincerely & TYIA

If you get really desperate... you can just use something like Ian Coleman's website... https://iancoleman.io/bip39/

First, move all other coins from your KeepKey to new wallets. Then input your 12/24 word seed from KeepKey into the BIP39 mnemonic code converter... change the "coin" to DOGE... export all your private keys and then import them into another Dogecoin wallet (like Dogecoin Core or MultiDoge or something like that)

Then you should consider that seed as compromised... either throw away the Keepkey and get another hardware wallet like Trezor, Ledger, Coldcard etc... or reinitialise the KeepKey with a new seed and then move your funds back.

Problem is most people are using the other existing wallets like coinomi (this is based on my experience talking to people since 2016 who use doge at gambling anyway).

Even they use the same for Bitcoin instead of Electrum or other specific single blockchain clients.

People don't really care at the end of the day?

In the past people didn't care about DOGE but now they do simply the reason is huge hike in the price so one who wants to hold for years definitely need a better individual wallet for Doge which is better compared to HD wallets.
