Nonetheless, In this post, we will see how scammers try to scam you through Fake giveaways and Ponzi schemes. So that we can avoid them in the future, and save our hard-earned money from being scammed.

FAKE GIVEAWAYS

(1) Fake Giveaway websites
Scammers starts many giveaways by putting a picture of a famous personality on their fake giveaway website which makes people think that this rich personality is giving us money for free, while it doesn't happen at all. You can see in the image below.



(2) Youtube fake giveaways.
Last year, we saw that many YouTube channels were used for these fake giveaways, I don't know that these channels were hacked, or the owners of the channels were paid for this, but the fact is that the crypto community suffered a lot from this.

(3) Fake Twitter Giveaways
Twitter is considered very safe and secure, but the truth is that nothing is secure here. These scammers hacked Twitter accounts of several exchanges and were also used for fake giveaways.

PONZI SCHEMES

The Ponzi Scheme websites encourage you to invest and promise to pay you a fixed amount of money each month or week. They even pay you at the beginning, but after a while, you will not be allowed to withdraw or their website will disappear.

People now learned their lesson about giveaway especially using prominent names in the industry like Vitalik and Elon Musk. I dont know how many scam giveaways has been posted using their identity and still confuse why there are still those who got caught. These people never gonna do a giveaway and even they do, a confirmation not just in one social account is needed cause chances that it's being compromise at the moment. Like what happened last time when popular Twitter account( authentic) was tweet a giveaway without their knowledge.

Nothing new but, newbies are still falling for these fake giveaways. The problem is as long as you have greed you will fall for giveaways. Most of them donot realize that nothing is free.

Just check those airdrops being conducted by new projects, newbies are always flocking for those airdrops.

Ive seen loads of tweets actually regarding the giveaway that elon musk has on twitter but to be honest, it obviously a scam and too good to be true thats why I dont know why some other people are falling for such tricks of the scammers, such an old trick. Before participating they should really confirm it and clarify it so it will be much safer

I always look at how they advertise their projects one of the hints that they are fake or Fonzie is when it comes to returns some good projects never promise any profit, fake or Fonzie always makes a pitch like 100% return or 1000% profit in just a month if you see those numbers that a red flag, legit projects show off their products, but the risk are always included, in every investment, this post by op is helpful for newcomers so that they will not experience what happens 4 years ago, for old members learn our lessons from the past.

Becareful with fake cloud mining, since a lot of hyip/ponzi site saying that they're "real" cloud mining with high interest.
Also, i think newcomer shouldn't join cloud mining even they're legit.

There are so many scammers who try to impersonate Elon Musk to spread phishing links or fake give a way. maybe this is because elon musk changed his bio on twitter to #bitcoin, and from that trending scammers tried to take advantage of the moment to start looking for people who could be fooled. sadly, because this movement is quite massive and the email link looks quite interesting, there are still people who believe it. a few days ago I saw from one of my connections on linkedin that (fake) Warren Buffet gave a $1 million give a way to random people as a form of charity and asked to confirm that the email is valid, then confirmation will be done. (I bet that you will be asked to fill out a strange form or send a certain amount of money to a btc address). I mean, what kind of joke is this? We should know that something like this could not be done by Elon or Warren, smh.

Then the second form of scam is about phishing websites with similar domain names. I'm sure many friends here have seen the same domain name with different extensions, this kind of phishing method is quite old school but successful enough to trick beginners. Most people who are new to crypto will look for information about wallets and exchanges, it is often taken advantage of by scammers.

The third form of scam is with hacked accounts. I saw the news that there are several verified Twitter accounts hacked to promote fake give a way and also spread phishing links. This method is quite dangerous because most of the followers of the hacked account might not even know that the account has been compromised.

They always get attract to the extent that they see some big guys doing some giveaways and they though this is true that's why they need to verify first and always learn to ask so that they will not fall from this scams. And since this kind of tactics has been used multiple times I doubt there are still people who fall from this.

I just got a link from a friend hours ago and I clicked on the link to see that it's a scam cloud mining website, be ready people, crypto mining is very profitable right now, there is 100% assurance that scammers will keep coming for newbies, luring them to buy hashing power from them, it's all scam, stay away if you know what's good for you

This is exactly the problem of the newbies and beginners in crypto and blockchain space. Some of my Facebook friends inquired and consulted to me if those opportunities are real, and I simply said no because the structure and system that they’ve advertised are ponzi. I took time to educate as well about the dos and don’ts in engaging with crypto projects. These ponzi scams cannot be stopped and newbies are falling for it, and we, the experienced ones, will do everything we can to prevent them from getting their hard-earned money to end up in the wrong hands.

There's nothing new, every time crypto became a hot topic, scammers will take the opportunity to trick people and as always newbies are getting attracted. Newbies getting fall into this kind of scheme for a quick profit which does totally not exist. Isn't obvious that these prominent people no matter how rich they are they will not do some giveaways like this. Even the Binance, if they tweet for some giveaways better to confirm it first before engaging in any activities because bear in mind that this official account can be penetrated/hack and create falsehood.

Yes, and the fact is people still fall from that tactic because there will be many new people who join in the crypto and read about the offers.
Those people try to participate in that offers, and they will follow every step that will be needed to get the rewards.
When they do not verify if that offers is real or not, they will get dragged to the deep of the tactic without them know the offer is fake.
If many people tell about the fake giveaways to the new people, the new people will not fall for that, and they can stay away from that.

Everything in the deception is still the same method for me, just changing their trick method to convince others in this trap, now there is indeed a lot of fake giveaway and ponzi schemes with tricks to not be as similar as possible fraud, but still here we need to learn a lot. its a thread about warning of scams that often occur in the crypto industry. I don't even be surprised if someone gets stuck because they really don't want to learn before entering into it.

It often happens to find scams everywhere, including fake exchanges, fake twitter, fake projects, and some others. Honestly, all of what I reveal in this forum is the beginning of learning and studying.

Greed cannot be prevented but it will make us fall.
