Sorry guys, my question might sound dump, I don't have a wattmeter here but I want to know the watt that motherboards can consume when using then for gpu mining, that is Not using their CPU to mine, only gpu, can you give an estimate? thanks

Roughly 60-75 watts.  Thats power draw on boot up of MOBO, CPU, GPU and PSU.

If you are using riser the mobo doesnt see any of the gpu power load.

I think op is asking if my set up is 10 cards doing exactly 1000 watts.

what more do I add to get full power numbers.

Short answer buy a k-watt meter and test your self.

Long answer if you are a gamer and mine with 1 card while you sleep 💤 I can understand not buying

a k-watt miner.

But if you build a five card or four card rig and spend a few thousand go buy a k-watt meter.

Why is that it will pay for itself by understanding your power consumption.

I can make a rig with 1000 watts of real at the wall gpu power being used do

1050 to 1100 meaning 50 to 100 watts for motherboard.

One way to understand your power used by a cpu is to do a reading when you are mining.

then down clock the cpu to see how much the watts drop.

other ways to see cpu power use is test a t variant against a standard cpu and decide if having the mobo us say a g4400t and not a g4400

hint the g4400t saves 24 x 25 watts a day or .6 kwatts or 6 cents with 10 cent power or 12 cents with 20 cent power. that is 22 a year with 10 cent power or 44 a year if your power is 20 cent.

So a mobo cpu ram fans or a mobo cpu ram fans and riser is about  50 to 100 watt more than the cards.

and buy a kwatt watt meter if your are building four or more cards to mine with.

I think he is asking how much power the motherboard+cpu+ram use when mining. Basically the essentials power consumptions not including the GPUs. Basically in my experience, motherboard+cpu+ram while mining (cpu mostly idle) uses 30 watts.

So if you got 1 GPU which uses 150 Watts. Your total consumption will be 150+30=180 Watts.

2 GPUs will be 150+150+30=330 Watts .... and so forth.

So the more GPUs you have in the same rig the less overhead the motherboard consumption takes up.

This is assuming you got no case fans or running old HDD which can bring total consumption closer to 50 Watts.

If you are using HDD turn that into SDD and also if you don't use CPU to mine your motherboard won't be using more than 60 to 70 watts on its own, it will even be better if you are running on new pc of this generation, they operates with very low watts

BTW, here are a few things you can do to reduce mobo power consumption.
1.If Intel cpu, then you should be able to undervolt the cpu.  My Has(h)well cpus are happy with 75-100mV undervolt of both core,  cache and graphics sub-unit.  You can dl the Intel XTU for this.
2.Install only one stick of RAM.  Any dual RAM module setup will likely double the RAM power consmp.
3.Disable serial and parallel port in BIOS.
4.Disable any mobo RGB
5.Avoid HDD, use SSD or USB

Fellow miners, get your thens and thans in order and help other forum readers understand what you are writing. Remember the grammar basics:  B larger THAN A (comparator operator). If something THEN ....

above is good for a strict mining rig.

but if you use the rig for other purposes you may need 2 sticks of ram.

Motherboard is small consuming around 10watt that depend on the board it self, assuming you are using dedicated mobo with disable many features, and only focused on mining, ssd consume around 5watt, cpu 20watt, base on skylake celeron with b250 mobo..

That's going to be a different story for those who are using old mobo to mine, even at idle with no load on old CPU they consume some watt than new mobo like 6th gen and 7th gen, I think it has something to do with their nm size , HDD or SDD doesn't matter much to me

The highest I've seen my motherboard consume is 35 watts and I have four different types of motherboard, from intel to AMD, they only consume high watts if CPU is under stress or loads, I won't worry about the MOBO watts draw unless I'm running them on backup batteries
