DEX exchanges are very disadvantageous nowadays, as transaction fees on the ethereum network are very expensive. yesterday I was planning to buy tokens at Uniswap, but when I saw the gas fee I had to pay, I was surprised that the amount exceeded my estimate of $50. it was very expensive and I decided against it. it is better to temporarily leave DEX, until fee gas can be cheaper

I found what i consider a gem today, so i was in a hurry to buy some before more people discover it and the price begins to go up, being an erc-20 token and only listed on uniswap and 1inch, i needed eth and i had zero eth on my wallet, fortunately, i had about $163 usd in my local bank account so i immediately took out $150 usd to buy some eth, after successfully buying eth from a centralized exchange, i quickly withdrew it to my trust wallet, the exchange took about $22 usd for Ethereum transfer fees so i was left with about $128 usd when the eth hit my trust wallet.

i quickly headed to uniswap to purchase my precious new found ticket to the moon, with my $128 usd in eth, i could have easily purchase about 2000 of the tokens but due to eth high fees, i brought it down to 1000 tokens so as to enable have some eth left for fees but surprisingly, when i clicked on swap, i was told that i don't have enough eth to cover the transaction fees, how much was the fees??? behold ! $87 usd, i was shocked, i didn't want to buy less than 1000 tokens so i decided to adjust the fees, after adjusting, i was able to bring the fee down to $42 usd, i was warned that my transaction might take a very long time before confirmation o might even be cancelled, i took my shot and clicked the submit button.

so the wait began ...

1 hour -- i was still waiting for a confirmation

3 hours -- i was still waiting for a confirmation

4 hours -- i was still waiting

5th hour came and some where in the middle of it, i got a notification from trust wallet that my transaction has been confirmed... i was happy, i quickly rushed to etherscan to view the transaction. lo and behold,, the transaction was confirmed but the token purchase didn't pull through, it returned an error saying like purchase wasn't successful due to low gas shit shit shit...WHAT THE F...KING HELL .. my $42 usd gone just like that ?? i was so fucking mad, in fact, if i knew where vitalik was, i would have called security men to have him arrested, i was devastated, i felt like crying, i was so mad at my wife and kid like its their fault,...it wasn't funny, out of $128 usd, i had just $86 usd left, i couldn't buy my precious ticket to the moon no more, its really a bad day for me today, i lost $150 usd just like that, that was all i had left in my local bank account, and now its gone all because of Ethereum high fees.

If everything is not changing, I am afraid that the fees will still be too high, and it could increase more as people still want to trade on that platforms. I feel you bro, this ethereum transaction fee is really insane. I also tried to move my tokens to the exchange setting a low gas because I'm short.. unexpectedly the transaction was failed but they took the gas fee..I don't understand. Well there is nothing we can do bro just relax, don't cry, move on, the gas will down soon.

when ethereum prices have started to rise very high, usually the price of gas fees will also go up. it has become commonplace for me.
if you want to transact better use another coin which costs lower gas fees. for example like tron. TRX is one of the coins that has a low fee and is easy to use

It's none of their fault but yours unfortunately. You did not do your due diligence and did not calculated the fees you will need in all these transactions you were going to do.

Anyway, here is the bright side - maybe this moon coin will have heavy dump, maybe 200%+ dump and you would losing all your investment. It happened with most of us in the past. Not all coins are going to the moon, it's just an emotional response. Good thing that you have $86 in your pocket :-D

Sorry but there's no bright side to look at mate, if we were all the always consider this things or even think about them, no one would want to invest in any coin or token, let's face the fact, Ethereum is pretty messed up with fees and I've personally sworn never to transact in Ethereum again, not until the issue with high fees is fixed.

In fact, we don't even have an alternative, the high commission is due to the high price per coin. Any existing platform expects the same scenario. Binance, Waves, EOS. We need a blockchain with a stablecoin to make gas charges affordable.

$ 42 is a very small price to pay for a good experience. When the gas price is above 200 gwei, then all purchases of tokens on the uniswap are not profitable for $ 200-300, if you do not wait for x3 and higher.

The gas fee has been crazy the past days and it's a pity that an average person can no longer enjoy Ethereum network due to their congestion bulls**t and it's annoying.
I had the same scenario when I wanted to swap corx token some days back when I saw price surge in the token. Since Uniswap is more easier to trade without involving any withdrawal fee, I decided to give them a try but i didn't know I had to run two transfer to be successful in that particular trade.

• The first transaction was approval that took almost half of my remaining ETH balance
• The swap fee which was 3x of my initial transaction. At the end, I couldn't proceed with the transaction.

I had to send my tokens to centralized exchange which was painful

It does happen especially in the days of high volumes, high transactions and network congestion. I have also faced failed transactions in the past but to be honest mostly it was due to my own mistake like setting lower gas or gwei or not adding any amount etc so you also need to stay calm and analyse your mistake so that it does not happen again.
As far as eth congestion is concerned it appears that this problem will continue untill we are transferred onto eth 2.0 chain so for that we have to wait few more months. I hope this wait will be worthwhile in the end.

yes, the gas fee really high, and if the fee is going to high and high day by day, i think a lot of people will back to cex
i also stopped to use dex at this moment mate, i hope there will be a solutions about the high fees on ethereum network

Sorry to hear that OP. On one hand you can check the fee before deciding to transact but on the other if the system allows you to adjust the fee and you made it about half of what was required the transaction should still be processed instead of being cancelled. That's strange that it took your money without eventually going through, especially with the fee paid by you being already high. Maybe if you paid 1% of the suggested fee, but you paid 50.

They'd probably charge you more than the ETH fee
Ask him on twitter to pay the fee for you because his invention made you poor.

I feel you when I swap my token in uni swap the first action is to approve it goes through after clicking the confirm swap the transactions did not go through because the gas fee is high. I lost my $40 fees using this ethereum network just to sell a coin but the network is failed. You're not the only one who experience the same scenario of failed transactions because of this ethereum network I hope the team of ethereum will do something to lessen the fee. But these days since the price of eth is high the fee everyday is also increasing and expensive.

I just paid $150 worth of fees to the ethereum network recently just to exchange 1k USDT to another coin on uniswap. Ethereum chain looks so crazy this day. Im thinking to retire from using ethereum chain but I can't do that because most of the assets were using ethereum as its parent chain.
Do you know that miners were getting a lot of fees from ethereum chain? That's why miners were not agreed with the EIP1599 proposal to fix the ethereum fees.

Look at the current gas price for the traders. It's so high, even an insane person wouldn't think about trading right now

Trading using Ethereum is really expensive these days, that's why a lot saying IT MUST better to always follow the advisable/recommended gas fee. It will now a lesson for everybody, thanks to OP for sharing it here, some people will start to consider this on their future trades on Uniswap or other DEX under Ethereum.

For Ethereum, this is one of the biggest challenges for them, very high transaction fees. That's why there are some altcoins started to solve this (e.g. Solana) , especially transaction fees on DEX, honestly, DEX is one of the best features I saw on Ethereum but there is still a problem.

The fee is crazy indeed as I've observed the fee could varies in such ridiculous range, this block you see median of 100 gwei per gas next block you see 200 gwei per gas, if that's not insane then I wonder what it is.
The developers of token should also try to search for another smart contract platform just to distribute the traffic otherwise it's gonna stay like this for another year, the sharding which supposed to take care of the fee also not really helping isn't it?

Sharding is not yet implemented and how can you sure if that's not helping the platform and users? There's a solution that already introduced by the developers but the problem is any ethereum improvement proposal must have passed so many audits and approval from the community (miners).
That makes the solution takes a very long time to be implemented.
I don't like waste a lot of my funds just to pay the greedy miners.
