I don't if I should say be careful with minerstat or be cautious with your PC, my windows security detected a trojan called Wacatac.D5!ml and after some research I find out that this trojan is capable to using your PC to mine behind your back, and also find out it's coming from Minerstat installer, I don't know how this trojan gets in my PC because I've never used browser on the PC at all, it's a hashrate stealing trojan
What you say is a good warning in a general sense but did you reach out to minerstat before posting about it here? I used both the Linux and Windows one on different setups and have not experienced what you say. I literally checked the system again right now after reading this. Perhaps you need to figure out where did it arrive from.
Also, it would be nice if you can write more about it with some references and also a solution for people having similar issue.
just use simplemining OS and be virus free.
Some prefers windows for other reasons, mining OS is a complete mining OS only, you can't do other things on the OS than to mine but with windows you can do lots of things, standalone mining OS is good for those who don't care about other things but mining only
Well ideally mining rigs should only mine.
But real world many want windows 10.
I have lots of rigs most are smos.
But I do mine on a few win 10 builds.
I second this comment. It might not be as simple for everyone what seems obviously simple to us. A while ago, a friend had wanted to mine on his gaming pc.. no way such a person will install Linux to mine while sacrificing all the other things.
Some people buy a fully built rig thinking that it is an auto money-making machine. I met a guy who didn't know how to run a rig with windows installed forget about Linux. The problem is not nominal operation by clicking and mining coins in your wallet but troubleshooting of both software and hardware when something goes wrong.
