Request for Nigeria local board

I think that's about it, being pinned will make your thread a bit more visible. It probably won't have a major effect on your thread activity, but why not having it pinned, as I don't see any downsides of getting that, while waiting for your own local board.

By the way, did any of you contact forum staff directly and asked them what's exactly needed to get your own local board, like if there is some specific criteria to be met?

There was a time I thought about the pinning of the local thread, I sent cyrus a pm. The thread was not pinned while cyrus sent back no message. I did not know the reason why cyrus did not send message, but we know how admin can be so mute while something is not yet relevant and at times even if relevant. In my high opinion, the thread needed to have been pinned, this probably would have even encouraged more Nigerians to join us on the thread.

I will also still encourage Nigerians to continue posting on the thread, likely one day something good will come up.

Sorry to hear that your request for getting Nigerian thread pinned went unanswered, these things happen. Hopefully this one won't end up the same and you get your own local board.

I don't know about other facts, but those two bolded ones are not entirely true, as there are couple of other threads that have more posts written. Not going into quality of those posts, just referring to the numbers.

We are clearly visible on the forum and a lot of our people are making valid, contributory and educative posts here on the forum. No one with an objective assessment can deny this. Nigerians are multitasking and industrious. There's certain flavour we bring to the party. Little wonder CZ Binance recognized the hard working Nigeria population immediately his exchange got its footing and created a trading pair for the Nigeria currency. That also helped further boost awareness of cryptocurrencies in Nigeria and popularized Binance too. That action from CZ is generating a lot of traffic for Binance now. Nigeria has the number and this will be for the betterment of this forum.

Even if you count from the moment Nigerian thread was created, I think that there are few threads that were more active in that period. But I don't think that matters that much, as some other things are also (if not more) important like post quality, amount of active members etc.

As one of the most populous countries in the world, Nigeria is a huge market. What's even better is the popularity of crypto there, despite your government's attempts so that makes it even more important for bitcointalk to create a place where Nigerians can talk about their local issues in an appropriate way, and not having everything stucked in one thread. I personally think that bitcointalk can only profit from this.

Bitcoin ATMs

Nigeria is home to several Bitcoin ATMs, so take your pick! The good news is that these machines allow you to convert the local currency into Bitcoin with ease. At the same time, they allow you to remain completely anonymous. The downside of using them, however, is that you may encounter rather steep fees in the process. Alas, such is the price for complete anonymity!

I am not surprised to see this type of wrong information on a reputed news platform in Nigeria, when Nigeria still have only one Bitcoin ATM which is in Lagos. I have not used the Bitcoin ATM before but most likely will indirectly request for mobile number for low transaction amount, and ID card for high transaction amount.

We need local board to provide more accurate information that Nigerian crypto lovers will also be able to read. Best and most accurate information about bitcoin and other crypto assets related to Nigeria can most likely be from this forum.

I haven't used the bitcoin ATM either. Maybe we should have a poll of how many Nigerians on the forum have used the bitcoin ATM. We know how frustrating it is to even use a traditional ATM in Nigeria. There is so much misinformation and fake news circulating in the media houses. I understand the hype, we want to look developed in the eyes of the rest of the world. But the anonymous part is very deceitful. This article is not one from a blog or a wannabe  journalist. Its from a reputable media house in Nigeria  one would think the journalist would take his/her time to research about bitcoin before publishing this article. The punch has good reputation so people will generally believe whatever garbage they throw at them. Newbies and the general public will swallow the lie hook, line and sinker.

I haven't used the bitcoin ATM either. Maybe we should have a poll of how many Nigerians on the forum have used the bitcoin ATM. We know how frustrating it is to even use a traditional ATM in Nigeria. There is so much misinformation and fake news circulating in the media houses.

I do not think that would be necessary, but just to bring out a fact that Nigerians can have quality information from us (we Nigerians) on this forum which can only be possible if we are giving a local board. Can you imagine many quality information we would have provided Nigerians just through this forum. There was a time I was searching for a particular content online, I was directed to this forum, if we have been making such threads, there are likely chances that also anonymous Nigerians will be directed to this forum of what they are searching for about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. This forum is a very helpful forum but not yet showimg its potential to Nigerians, it could have been our fault, but now requesting theymos to give us a local board which makes the blame to be shifting from us as we are ready to develop the board.

We also hope that the one day does not become one year. It will be good for this forum to have a board for Nigeria because we are the most populated country in Africa and also very active in cryptocurrency business and trading. Theymos should consider all this and grant us a board.

I noticed I haven't seen you before posting on Nigeria local thread, our post activity counts, if you have any contribution about bitcoin or other crypto in relation to Nigeria, you can post it there, also there is nothing bad to join in the active discussions going on the local thread.

In regard to your post, local board has been demanded for long time ago, but probably is wasn't a good to be given, but more Nigerians are there on local thread now which makes the local thread more active ever than before, and surprising active with quality posts. We believe the more active we are with quality post will be the evolution of the creteria needed for a local board to be created.

Nigeria is similar to our country in that it is full of people who are interested in cryptocurrency. Fortunately, we had our Pilipinas Local board from the start, since a lot of Filipinos are already here in the early years of bitcointalk and I'm hoping that you will have your Nigerian Local board as well. We all deserve those local boards because it's where we share our news, updates, and opinions about what is going on crypto in our country especially if the country is full of people who're willing to explore cryptocurrency and I've noticed that in your country, it should be given a chance. You seem to have gathered around in that thread, and there are a lot of users, same in the other threads.

If the statistic thread is constantly updated and they notice a significant change, more active users and quality posts, maybe there is a good chance of getting a local board. Good luck!

This isn't a case for argument, Charles-Tim only said, he noticed. It doesn't go for everyone though, I might understand your defending yourself as Charles-Tim is a regular or frequent user of our yet to be pinned Local Board.  I must say, Nigerians on the forum have rated amongst the top users with a zeal to learn and use the things we learn here to affect our nations in whatever way we can and a local board could help us archive even more. A community within a community, as one of the populous indigenous people of bitcointalk and the fact that, we have at least a lot required criterias, admins could do us this favour. So, we could appraise our discussions into proper subboards. A lot are been allowed to fly into the wind and its so uncool.

I did not take it as an offense and my comment portrayed that except if someone is reading it wrongly. I only reminded him that I have been posting there and that is truth. We can not be divided on a small issue like that.
