I’m disappointed with the government as this is not the best time to enforce this:

Football has been warned it faces a “significant impact” with the Government ready to impose a major crackdown on betting sponsorship.

Ministers could impose a complete ban on shirt sponsorship with gambling firms as part of their review with teams from the top two divisions making around £110m-a-year from the tie-ups.

What are your thoughts on this do you agree with the government or you’re against this proposal, and how do you think that the club owners will react knowing that they’ll have to suffer more financial losses if this is implemented.

Realistically speaking, in terms of involvement, I don't really care too much to be emotionally involved in this but this is going to affect the industry in a big way. Since there is a lot of money involved in sponsorships, it would possibly rekt the earnings of everyone involved. I mean, even if it's still in the works, the projection is negative. To be honest, the causes of those types of sponsors are not responsible for the addiction of people in gambling but it started the effect as well.

It's hard to have a decision but I will go for the banning, just knowing that people have been addicted about gambling because of the "advertisement" seen in the games. I wouldn't want to see a lot of people go into a spiral and never return because of addiction.

Not the best time for this kind of news, many sports rely on sponsorship it's added revenue and good advertising for a gambling site they thrive on that and this has proven to works and benefits both industry, they should oppose this and try to appeal this, it's been handed without consultation, which should be the case if they want to implement new rules, they did not see it's bad impact for both parties.

I don't really know, I am just suggesting things that I think might work on this situation that lands on a compromise. A lot of other products are still advertising in the football clubs though so I wouldn't really say it is a financial problem. If your concern is crypto gambling community, we can always go for other sports, boxing, MMA, Basketball and we can even pay some celebrities to do the advertisement.

Perhaps, there will need more communication between the government and the sponsor, and the club owners, so the government can adjust the rule and give a win-win solution. I don't know if that can impact the club owners because the club owners agree to the shirt sponsorship, and I think they don't know if the gambling firms are part of the agreement. If the agreement includes the gambling firms, they can re-arrange the agreement without including the gambling firms, so there will be no other problem with the government. I think the gambling firms know that not all countries allow gambling, so they need to consider not including their company in the shirts.

I don't think about this as something bad for gambling communities (both crypto and fiat)! If it's bad for anyone it will be for clubs that have sponsors from the gambling industry... they will be short for big money (probably hundreds of millions every year), and it's the money they counted on!
Casinos will continue with advertising where it's allowed for them, and people will continue to gamble anyway! Like Lorence, I don't agree with this, but I see where this is going! After all kids are watching games, and they ask what their favorite team have on their jerseys!

Huh, that's a huge hit to the industry since when someone takes the first step, it's quite possible that a lot of others would closely follow. It seems kinda stupid that they're blaming addiction to sponsorship though. It's like they're attacking the knife for being dangerous when the one who holds the knife is the dangerous one. I get the idea that removing the knife entirely out of the picture would reduce the risk, but this also indicates that others who use said knife would be impacted.

I just hope that they have proper talks about this tbh. As well as properly thinking of ideas on how to combat addiction effectively instead of band-aid ideas, which is imo, like this one.

So it just simply means they cannot get paid from gambling industries or get some payment from them? Which country is about to implement this kind of rule? maybe their people are suffering from gambling addictions which they need to make some moves to minimize the victims. As you can see, it came from their government itself and I'm sure it came from a lot of talks before publishing it to the public. The gambling industry has made many contributions to the sports industry such as football, if the government prohibits this, it is very worrying that the sports clubs will less funds and cause a loss of motivation. reduce addict gamblers is not something that can be solved this way.

I don’t get what the government achieves by doing this?Maybe they are trying to lower the exposure to gambling from fans and television fans but this will not be effective.The majority of gamblers are from the internet and not from tv ads.The only impact this will have is lowering the yearly revenues for many teams,not a great move by the government.

This is quite sad in my opinion. I think football needs a lot of sponsors to be the best type of sport it can be. For me the gambling and betting industry has been a big part of sports for years. Whenever I have some spare money I just like to bet a little, nothing too big but it makes the games more interesting for me. There is nothing wrong with it. And the gambling industry is actually giving it back to sports by sponsorships.

I don't think banning gambling ads on T-shirts will dramatically change the statistics on gambling addiction among soccer fans.

In my opinion, the government should use preventive and precautionary rather than restrictive measures in the fight against gambling addiction.

And the gambling industry is actually giving it back to sports by sponsorships.

Government maybe doesn't want a betting sites to sponsor a league because it's not good in the image and rigging could probably happen. They also have a lot of fans which might get interested in gambling upon seeing the logo of sponsorship. I don't know but I think other sports have survive like the NBA and there's no gambling institution that sponsors this league.

The consequence of this government regulation is a huge impact on club revenues. When club finances are disrupted, I will doubt very much how these teams will be competitive enough to finish the season. Are there other factors that led the government to make this decision apart from blaming addiction as the main factor ?
These rules will apply in the UK, and I believe there is a lot of discussion going forward that might lead the government to change the rules or at least tighten them for obvious reasons.

The thing about gambling companies is that more often than they pay a premium for the sponsorships that some other companies simply cannot compete against, but with that out of the equation, i expect a new era of unknown and weird companies flooding the EPL with less lucrative sponsorships offers that football teams will have no choice but to accept (as they do with sketchy gambling sites)

Since sponsorship contracts are ongoing and football clubs need to honour that agreement with gambling companies, this gambling ads ban probably won't be in effect until probably 1 or 2 years, so plenty of time for gambling companies to start looking for a new football league that allows those ads.

short-term probably not, but in the long-term it will. If the general public are no longer exposed to those ads, it'll obviously have an impact on the traffic of gambling websites

Is it going to affect the crypto gambling in any way? I don't think so! This type of ban will possibly impact the fiat gambling operators and also the football clubs will be impacted because one Avenue of their cash flow will be stopped!

Also this is for European clubs only and football is a global game in all true senses! Gambling companies will gind new market to expand if EU bans them from advertising through EU football teams! When one door shuts, another one opens!

This is a step in the right direction.
1.It will reduce the revenue of the super rich English football teams and they will stop with the insane multi-million dollar transfers.I got annoyed by all the super-expensive overvalued not-so-great players that got into English football.
2.It might reduce the amount of sports betting gambling addicts,at least a little bit.

Probably what the government are trying to achieve here is to reduce the sports betting activity.

When betting have too much sponsor, they might be able to influence the game, imagine what it could do if they will try to rig the game in their favor. So I agree with these changes, the game will still generate income as it has a lot of fans but at least it will help to minimize the gambling activities of people.

What they are trying to convey IMO is that, you can still enjoy the gambling without betting, these two does not necessarily come together.
