Yep, I have seen about a dozen ads on national TV just today.  BTC is "on fire" and questions are being asked by a great many.  Nice!  My Trezors and I have a bright future I think, LOL!  Closing in on 45K.

So is  ETH actually they are all in the news, particularly the Merge. It's like being hyped by huge investors. I've driven the main highway in my town and saw some cars with BTC logo. I don't normally see it here in the remote city but there it is.

You just have to look at the date of this thread. This is prior to the bearish cycle that we are in right now.
And right when Elon Musk was putting BTC in his mouth, creating hype around it and then investing. But we all know that he made a massive sell recently.

Bitcoin is definitely somewhat a household name now, but nah I wouldn't say that people in general "trust" it. Most people still think that it's a huge scam/scheme waiting to blow up.

those who don't trust bitcoin are mostly part of the parents who are hard to accept developments. indeed there are still people who think bitcoin is a scam like a ticking time bomb.
but we can see how the news in the media is starting to pay attention to the crypto market, especially bitcoin assets. even in my country, there are private television stations that talk about stock market movements. they have also covered Bitcoin and Crypto markets. This shows that governments and important people in the world are starting to pay attention to this market.

We've had crypto-related content on the news last cycle in 2017 as well(remember CNBC Crypto Trader ran by the shitcoin shiller Ran Neuner?); it doesn't automatically mean that people in general are taking it seriously now, especially after the bear market.

I guess it's popularity is growing, specially in the last 4-5 years. There are nations who accept it as legal tender - El Salvador. And many financial institutions are offering it to their client. And even ordinary and average joe can invest on it.

It has nothing to do with Elon Musk or his company. Bitcoin has grown because it became one of the biggest asset. It gives people financial freedom. Although it has been heavily regulated by many regulators around the world.

seems like an old thread, but let's take a look at the current state of things where elon and tesla sold some of their bitcoin holdings a while back and that also caused the bitcoin price to crash, so here we are in a bear market and now trying to recover the market further, though i'm not sure people will believe in elon again in the future who currently may focus more on dogecoin than bitcoin, we need other famous people to invest in bitcoin in the future

I wouldn't say so exactly, you may think it is completely mainstream, but will be surprised that there are still places where there are no ads and very limited media, and in those areas, people still have no idea what bitcoin is even if the icon is shown to them. Most people don't care about Elon Musk and probably don't even know who this guy is and what he represents. It would make more sense for people to adopt bitcoin because a national idol is promoting the cryptocurrency instead of Elon Musk. Actually I see more people getting interested in btc because they are being bombarded daily with news regards cryptocurrency. There are lots of news talking about bitcoin always the price drops or rises considerably in short time periods. Moreover, we have many other news telling about the integration of crypto by governments worldwide through CDBCs.

It means crypto will be part of everyone's lives with or without their consent. It's going to be imposed on them, so they must be really interested in learning more about it.

When I saw the title I thought that when I started to see bitcoin in the news it was often last year and therefore it does not surprise me that the thread was created then.

History is interesting to look back but we can not live with history. Moreover history does not necessary to repeat itself. It might repeat or might not repeat itself.

It is hard to apply lesson learned from courses or any resources to practice in the way it should be. Especially if we are talking about psychological control. The psychology cycle of market is well known and many people have seen or been exposed with it more than one time. However, when they are in market, with real money, they react inappropriately.

People must self experience bear market to understand what it is and how painful it is as well as how great opportunities exist in bear market and after that.

It is first step to be in the market. Being greed, unknowledgeable, get loss and if they can survive in the market about 4 years, they can learn something, adjust themselves and might start to get correct approach then profit.

I agree with your whole post, but I should add that there is still a lot to be learned from the history. And it is not about history repeating.
For example the simplest and first thing anybody would learn by looking at bitcoin charts is that the market is very volatile and sudden drops and sudden rises are normal and don't have to have some big reason behind them.

I agree that it happened back in 2017 when most of the world heard about it, some did get in, some didn't, some didn't get in back in 2017 but then got in later on, but majority of the world heard about it back then. It is cool to be able to say I have been in crypto far longer than most people, but to be fair if you have nothing to show for it then mostly it is a bad thing and not a good thing.

People act as if they would have bought tens of thousands of bitcoin if they knew it soon enough, and they do not do it right now, so in 5 to 10 years they would be in the same position as me. It is not easy decision to make, I may have missed out on being wealthy, but I am still happy to be involved.

We don't have to trust Tesla to start trusting bitcoin. Bitcoin and Tesla are completely unrelated and we know that too. So with all the news out there, I don't think it's because of Tesla but indeed, Elon has made an impact for crypto to thrive.

Investors today are smarter than a few years ago because they can search for more information about cryptocurrencies. But this is only for wise investors who don't just follow what people say on social media. And if there are going to be more people believing in bitcoin, it won't be because of Elon.

Apart from that it is quite hard to see bitcoin on leading news portals. Now things have changed a lot and news sources have started to broadcast the good about bitcoin. This is a big transition and the same will continue further.

Years back it is rare to see news on bitcoin once in a month on local media. Now the trend is different, separate programs are being broadcast to create awareness on cryptocurrency.
