Hi,
I had been playing full-time poker for a few years, mainly played at P* & ipoker. Now I got interested in the crypto world.

I've tried playing poker on those bitcoin sites. Found the conversion weird. Joining tables where big blinds are not displayed in usd, and in btc instead makes me feel a cognitive overload.
How do you feel about tables in btc? Have you got any advice on how to manage those?

Don't overthink too much just because it was displayed in btc instead of USD you can always remember how much was the chip was whenever you're playing BB. Before you play on tables on btc mostly it's in 1 chip and better if you know first how much it was valued and the casino I guess has that kind of conversion. As I've said don't mind it too much better you play first on micro stakes so you'll feel the vibes playing chips in btc usually playing on micro it doesn't cost dollar for every chip. Try to play on https://www.swcpoker.club it's beginner friendly site in bitcoin poker and there are enough players out there daily so you'll not miss out to play but I advice play only first on micro stakes.

If the chip have different value in btc then you'll be able to know its value but if it's different then you'll only know the value of btc in usd if you use a converter of btc to usd and see if how much a certain btc is worth. I have played poker on acewins before and I know how much the chip costs.

No, you cannot handle it by yourself.

The base bet currency used the only one who can change that only the gambling casino itself, they need request to gambling software provide to change the base bet currency into $, not BTC because was too expensive for the chips.

Try maybe contact the casino and give them advice, and see the casino taking your suggestion or not.

Mate, don't worry about that, just play. Smiley

I mean, if you are playing on a good reputable site, such as swcpoker(mentioned above), or betnomi, you can just relax about the conversion(it is done rightly, always), and play.

BUT, I can't say the same about other crypto gambling sites, claiming you can play poker there. Be cautious with them. There are many scammers around.

Conversion is  not really important to me since you can always verify about the value of the volume you've got just play if you are interested to play by using crypto since at the end of the day you can convert it base on the current market value. If  you are worried about volatility then excuse that, just think that you are here to have fun so don't stress yourself for that matters.

According to the OP statement conversion is very important to him and I believe he needs it to prevent gambling more than he can afford to lose every day due to the conversion difficulty. Besides, it will also help him to manage his bankroll well and the last time I check betnomi is the only poker site I know that offer wagering in USD just like Roobet.

Get on the lowest value table and play a few hands that way if you're really worried you won't be loosing anywhere near as much as if you were playing a major pot game.

Also, go in with a budget and work out say ten games based on that budget for the day's play.  Again this should help give you an idea of converting between dollars and Bitcoin.

(another one is just play in Euro's or Pounds instead of Dollars and see if you can keep up).

Good-luck.

-snip-How do you feel about tables in btc? Have you got any advice on how to manage those?
Briefly summarized: You get used to it when you play more, it's really no different than when you switch back and forth between USD and EUR casinos, only the conversion rate for BTC is simply much higher.

What you should not forget, however, is to check the rate again before playing. There have been days when my bankroll was suddenly worth 10% more than the day before just because BTC rose so much.

Make sure that you're using a good website with high reputation to avoid being scammed. Other than that, you just have to remember how much some basic amount of BTC is in USD, and then make approximate calculations. For instance, 0.001 BTC (or 1 mBTC) is around $40 (now it's a bit more, but normally it's a bit less). Just remember this and then just consider approximately how much is required to keep playing. The more you use BTC, the better you know this kind of basic stuff, and then eventually you get used to it all being displayed in BTC and don't even care how much exactly it is in USD.

I would have a hard time engaging in any sort of crypto gambling that wasn’t probably honest. I believe that “tables” fall info that category. As for the type of currency used being overwhelming, I’m not sure I agree. I think you just need to interact with crypto or foreign currencies more.

Since you are a newbie to the crypto world, it makes sense why you find the BTC conversions to USD etc complicated since cryptocurrencies and anything related to them have a complicated learning curve.

However, you can learn the basics quickly and use Google to convert BTC to USD and vica versa with ease. As time passes, you will get used to this habit in my opinion.

This is how I got used to playing crypto gambling and betting games without any issues whatsoever.

I confess that even for those who are familiar with the cripto, it's quite complicated to play poker when the currency is BTC and not U$.

It would be very easy for the site to implement a configuration that allows players to change the units to U$.

After the game is over, it's okay if you are going to receive U$ or BTC, but during the game, the interface needs to be as user-friendly as possible for the player.

thats not weird but thats normal because you are playing in a bitcoin/crypto casino . for crypto players that decides to try non crypto gambling sites we also suffer the same especially if usd is not our main currency anyway with the adoption of crypto casinos , casinos are now aware that non crypto gamblers are trying and even switching into crypto gambling thats why they adjust and add eur, usd and other more local currencies aside from cryptos in the balance and bets diaplay . just try another crypto casinos if your previous where you play dont have this feature

Hi,
I had been playing full-time poker for a few years, mainly played at P* & ipoker. Now I got interested in the crypto world.

You made the right decision to switch to crypto poker. I stopped playing in PS after they sacked the Supernova/Supernova Elite.

The solution is to ignore the dollar value. It's normal for crypto sites.

If you have 1BTC bankroll, you have 1BTC bankroll == 100 buy-ins for the 0.1/0.2mBTC tables.

That’s normal since Bitcoin is made up of Satoshis and if you’re gambling using it, you’ll get confuse at first and manually compute it on USD rate. If you keep on gambling, you’ll get used to it and I’m sure you’ll love to use Bitcoin more often, crypto gambling is better online. Smiley

There are features available with cryptocurrency online casinos. Using that you can calculate the game spending in terms of USD, EUR or any of the traditional Currency. Maybe every gambling site might not be having this feature, you can find this feature on Stake Gambling site

You've heard everyone's thought about your worry. Just get used to it and you'll be fine. What you should be worried about is the choice of where you play poker. There are a small handful of poker sites that are trusted by the community.

And in that regard, you have an idea about those trusted and reputed poker sites in the forum. Otherwise, if you haven't found any suggestion for that poker site, you can always ask again about the thoughts of the community about it.

Well, Betnomi is what OP is looking for right now! You can deposit any coin, and they have a nice choice of coins they accept, but you will get USD or Euro (when you register you will have to choose one of these two), and you will play with your chosen fiat currency! In poker, you can choose to see blinds instead of your dollar balance, some poker players find it very attractive!
Value display is a bit of a problem! You play with Bitcoins, in that case, your bet amounts are 0.0000...something! With Doge you play with all coins... and many other coins in the middle! I understand how confusing that can be, but with time it's getting easier, trust me!

There is a psychological part to this question that OP asked.  Of course, it is difficult to switch from traditional fiat circulation of money to the perception in cryptocurrency.  But at present, when BTC is gradually growing against the $, I think it is better not to think at all that you won in dollars, but simply count everything in BTC.  And gradually it will become a habit and all worries will disappear.
