Hey guys, I am no techie but had the idea that it would be very smart to use/share all the unused power of smartphones (f.e. during night at sleep) for cpu works (like rendering, filecoding etc) and use its free space (even hundrets of MB shall work instead of 200 GB as filecoin needs at least).
It is so obvious to try to use those billions (!) Smartphone potential out there but I dont know any project which do so.
There are so many possibilities therefore. Right now I had the idea of creating a decentralised internet (or messenger at least) based on Bluetooth (or wifi) p2p Network, so it still works after the regular internet may break down.

Well, you can try to describe it in more detail, because to be honest I am not very good at understanding the performance of smartphone systems that have different memory capacities. with a low system it can have a high enough power when we sleep and let it operate. maybe you can give me a simple description, because I can not capture the contents of your brilliant idea.

Ofcourse. I stopped discarding my phones few years ago for thesame idea and other reasons. I believe smartphones would be one of the most important tech to continue thriving with in the time of serious crisis and when the internet shuts down or something. Laptops would probably be used occasionally for mobility reasons and energy conservation. So, I tend to focus more on mobile phones when planning the development of decentralized projects.
If you could create a decentralized mobile application that runs as node and anyone could participate in through Wi-F/Bluetooth, you would solve the problem. The app has to be decentralized, transparent, immutable, censorship resistant, privacy-friendly/anonymity-friendly, etc.

Any more thoughts on this?
I mean I am no genious so 1000s of people had this idea surely before me. But why isnt there any serious project about using the billions smartphones? F.e. Filecoin needs at least 200gb storage and doesnt try to use users Smartphone power and its free disk space etc
So where is the problem?!

I've seen those shilling threads about a certain project that tells to mine through smartphone. But until now, there's no news about that project and I have no idea if it's still going or just making that project hype through those threads. I won't mention the name of the project. But I know that it's obvious that many others knew what that project was.

Dude, you must understand if the implementation is still too far to be a real thing. Did you watch before there were bunch of coins that used smartphone as a way to make the blockchain became decentralized but it's fail? Have you ever seen Pi and electroneum? if you have not yet seen both and i suggest you to take a look at the history from those projects. They were garbage project and there's no phone related project that became successful. that's the problem, the developers aim what they can't developed.

This is possible since it already happened before but thankfully someone found it out and manage to warn the people on how it works. Yeah! it really does mine on its own without the phone's owner's permission. You just simply shocked when you see your battery it's already drained and those guys who create those micro miners on phones do earn a big amount of money since their program is like a virus that spreads faster than any other smartphone virus out there. You can read more of it here: https://www.mcafee.com/blogs/consumer/mobile-and-iot-security/warning-crypto-currency-mining-targeting-android/

Not only smartphones but computers that have been hacked by these people. I believe it is still happening. But will be too late before anyone of us noticed this. This is how to protect your phone whenever you noticed something unusual with your battery life coming from this article also. https://www.businessinsider.com/cryptojackers-are-targeting-mobile-users-and-could-destroy-your-phone-2018-8-Ensure your operating system and apps are updated to the latest version to ensure they remain secure. -Only install apps from official platforms (Google Play Store and Apple's App Store). -Avoid installing applications from unknown sources. -Use the number of app downloads and user reviews to ensure any apps you download are the legitimate versions. -Don't grant your apps unnecessary permissions.

Pi and electroneum were not real mining. Several projects exist now, and several apps, that allow you to mine on an android phone but unless your cpu is watercooled, you end up only being able to mine 24/7 with one core out of 8. The amount you earn mining will likely never cover transaction fees.

It would be a thing of interest to note that, we are all located in different time zones and as such our timing are very much distinct as you go across the globe, while your all sleepy, some other set or people around the globe is very much active. Again, all phones aren't by the same manufacturer so, inputting any hardware or software that would be able to make the process possible is rarely possible and also, even machines too needs rest. While your resting is actually a time for machines to cool down. Over usage results in over heating and heat isn't good for any machine. So, it might be a great idea but, we've got to be ready on an individual base for a whole lot of other expenses as to parts and repairs.

You can mine Monero with smartphones. You will not mine much, but it is possible. Not jsut with smartphones but there are billions CPUs around the world. Monero uses RandomX mining algo that prevent ASICs to make much of an advance. So CPUs you can buy in every computer store in every country on the World are competitive with ASICs or GPUs. https://www.monerooutreach.org/stories/RandomX.html

If you plan on burning the smartphones faster then you can invent this technology . No one in the right sense will be mining using their hardware as it will wear your hardware much faster. If you use inexpensive hardware or hardware specific to mining then it is another story. I heard about filecoin but was not interested to experiment with my expensive laptop.

I have seen some "projects" using the power of smartphone. But guess what? Almost 99.99% of those projects are scam! They use your smartphones computational power to either do something else, or they just collect data, sells them and shares a minuscle portion of the profit they make with you. Not worth the power you will be spending. Again, smartphones aren't "capable" or built to be used for heavy computational purpose 24/7. There are so many possibilities therefore. Right now I had the idea of creating a decentralised internet (or messenger at least) based on Bluetooth (or wifi) p2p Network, so it still works after the regular internet may break down.
Bluetooth and wifi based p2p messaging system already exists. People use those when the government shutdowns internet due to political unrest. Internet? I doubt that's possible. Risks plus efficiency would be a problem.

I don't mean mining by using smartphones p2p power but software useful cases like calculating, transcoding and such cpu needing things which you can solve faster and cheaper by distribute the work.
What are the main barriers preventing such DApps success right now?!

I do not think there is any such project that can utilize the idol smartphones and even if there comes up a similar project and it starts to do so without user acceptance it would be illegal and unethical so if there is some sort of app or software for voluntary acceptance of such service then i do not think many people will adapt it.
