I am thinking of changing my email address used for Bitcointalk forum, mainly because of security and privacy reasons, and same thing goes for my password here.

Forum and BPIP website will detect this change and some members may think that there has been some account ownership change or account selling, so my question is what would be the best way to make this change?

Maybe making this post in advance like I am doing now would be enough to prove that I am still the same owner, and password change is more common as I noticed that many old members including theymos changed their passwords several times.

PS
I can also prove ownership for staked Bitcoin address.

I don't think that someone will automatically think (or at least they shouldn't) that there is something wrong with your account just because you changed your email or password as you can do that for myriad of reasons. But if at the same time your posting history changes dramatically, then people might suspect that your account has been sold/hacked. If I am you I wouldn't worry much about it and just change it.

At least I hope that things on bitcointalk are not that bad that simple change of email/pass without any other standard signs of account ownership change can cause you issues.

You are using the forum and the best is changing it in the traditional method is given by the forum. I've not known any customized method to change such things.
  • Third-party websites as BPIP are alternative tools and their displayed data can be accurate or inaccurate or it can be terminated anytime.
  • BPIP get data from seclog and the forum have backup for such data too
  • Does the forum has a public seclog or secret seclog? I guess it does not.
  • If a user did not do anything bad after password or email changes, no one care about it.
  • If one account is truly changed hands, differences in favorite boards, types of discussions and other factors can be detected easily.

I can also prove ownership for staked Bitcoin address.
As I know of, it is helpful if you want to restore your account or want to change your old to new staked bitcoin addresses.

To recap, I don't think the forum depends on BPIP and will accept user request with a customized progress to change email or password because of the statistics given on BPIP.

I don’t think it will cause some kind of suspicion, especially since you have already warned everyone here. I changed my address when I accidentally lit my account mail. Since then, no problems have arisen.

The forum would give warnings like:
user recently changed their email
user recently woke up

The purpose of these warnings are to serve as a heads up, and not a prove that the account has changed hands. Any suspicion would need to be fueled by more actions

Maybe making this post in advance like I am doing now would be enough to prove that I am still the same owner, and password change is more common as I noticed that many old members including theymos changed their passwords several times.

PS

This post is ideally enough to quell any suspicion that would arise from a change. You can also sign an address and include a change in email as the message.

When we flag an account for ownership change? Just because of change email and password? No, I don't think so. When there will a few suspicious activities and changed email and password then we flag an account. For example, changing posting behavior, change posting of local boards, etc. Simply change the email password doesn't mean the account has changed hand. I have changed my email address due to security issues, can't remember if changed the password as well.

Anyways, this post and sign message is enough to prove ownership. So don't worry and go ahead. For those who want to change email passwords and if you have fear to get a tag, then it's better to create a post on reputation about change password & email and lock the thread. It should be done before changing the password and email including sign a message from your Bitcoin address. If there is an existing signed message then it's fine, but you can add a new sign on the same topic you are going to change password and email from the same address.
