I know that mods tolerate ref links in posts in some parts of the forum (Gambling), but I wonder why no one wants to remove the ref link posted in Micro Earnings which more than obviously violate the forum rules? I reported this post 5 days ago with some other posts, but this is the only one that still stands unhandled Huh

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

I could swear I saw some exception somewhere for faucets... can't find it now, so it was either a hallucination or it's well hidden like some rules here tend to be.

After looking for a while I found this post[1] from SaltySpitoon:
Quote
Question #1:

You may use referal links under a couple conditions.

1) It has to be marked. Hidden referal links are often removed.

2) The context for posting the referal link has to be on topic. For example, if I was to make a thread asking what Bitcoin exchanges people recommended for my particular situation, and you responded with a constructive post that was on topic to my question, you could post your referal link, and say something like, heres my referal link if you want to use it.

3) Don't start a thread to post your referal link. If you create a thread, even if its multiple paragraphs and pretty much on point, if you have your referal link in it, more likely than not its going to be seen as a spam advertising thread that will probably get removed.

Referal links are not banned here, but the majority of users do exactly what I said not to above, they get their referal links removed, and the misconception that referal links are banned is created.

*edit* sorry missed a couple of your questions.

Question #2:

You are allowed to put referal links in your signature, the main concern with referal links is people creating spam to give out their referal links. You can put whatever you want in your signature as long as its not a link to malware, or if its a link to a NSFW site, please label it as such. Nothing sucks worse than getting into a bad situation because that buycoinsdirect.com link in your signature is actually a cam site. Different user groups, IE legendary/Newbie have different restrictions on what sort of formating is able to be used in their signature. For example newbie accounts can't have links, certain usergroups can't have styled signatures, etc. That is disabled by settings not something you can accidentally mess up.

Question #3:

The faucet rotator rules apply the same as any referal link, such are the rules that I posted above.

Question #4:

Invite codes are the same category as referal links, and the same rules apply.

Question #5:

When you write a review and include your referal link, its really a gamble. As I said in rule #3 above "Don't start a thread to post your referal link. If you create a thread, even if its multiple paragraphs and pretty much on point, if you have your referal link in it, more likely than not its going to be seen as a spam advertising thread that will probably get removed." It will really be up to moderator discretion how your review is categorized, based on how many other reviews are there out there, how high quality is the post, are you just making the thread to give out your referal link, etc. While you could do it, the chances of the thread being removed are rather high, so you may end up wasting a lot of time writing a good review because of how the referal link is interpreted.

Question #6

And yes, you can ask people to PM you if they would like your referal link.

Can the same set of rules be applied on this specific case?

I think this may excuse the link the OP is talking about, plus the general mod discretion as it's not a particularly spammy thread.

The referral link is hidden in this case with hyperlink, it is also more than obvious.

OP is start that thread with only one goal, collecting referrals - the context in which the ref link is posted is quite evident.

Quote
3) Don't start a thread to post your referal link. If you create a thread, even if its multiple paragraphs and pretty much on point, if you have your referal link in it, more likely than not its going to be seen as a spam advertising thread that will probably get removed.

If this is some kind of rule or just a recommendation, then it is definitely applicable in this case.

Do the moderators see this thread as some kind of review of the faucet in question? Well this is one of the oldest faucet with probably hundreds of reviews posted, and I don’t see the OP making that thread to explain to anyone how that faucet works.

So anyone who puts a little effort into presenting their ref link can do it without a problem?

It appears the purpose of that thread is to give incentives for people to use his referral link.

The exact rule that is cited by the Unofficial rules thread is:
4. No referral code spam
It is clearly disclosed that the link is a referral link (it is labeled), and he is claiming to give money to anyone who signs up using his referral link. It also appears the thread is actually promoting his GPT website that is similar to his forum handle.

I would say the thread is more than "referral code spam" based on the above.

I'd be interested to know the verdict of this discussion. Referrals get paid 100% of their earnings but they might have to give their emails for verification and future promotional materials from the mailing list of the OP, otherwise I wonder if he'd manually PM those that joined under him.

I remembered opening a thread promoting my website in the same subforum (although I mentioned clearly there were affiliate links that gave out bonuses) and got served a 3-days suspension sometime later.

Good catch.

From the first screenshot, he didn't check the second checkbox, only the third, both which seemed similar...

That could have influenced the payout the referrals get. So in addition to Bitcoins spent or earned, they have to be active as well.

I remembered opening a thread promoting my website in the same subforum (although I mentioned clearly there were affiliate links that gave out bonuses) and got served a 3-days suspension sometime later.

This is the first time I've reported a ref link in that board without the mods deleting it - obviously this user has some special status that doesn't apply to everyone else. Personally, I think that this sends the wrong message to everyone else that we are not all equal on the forum.

I'd be interested to know the verdict of this discussion. Referrals get paid 100% of their earnings but they might have to give their emails for verification and future promotional materials from the mailing list of the OP, otherwise I wonder if he'd manually PM those that joined under him.

I also think it has to do with him/her not getting anything in exchange for getting referrals [like what the above two users mentioned] but I find it strange that if ABitBack is giving back 100% of those earnings, then why there's a big difference between the "total commissions earned through referrals" and the "total shared amount with referrals" [am I missing something or he/she is misleading others?]?

It is not true that ABitBack does not benefit from giving 100% ref earnings back, because this faucet has a weekly lottery with very generous prizes, and every claim of his referral brings him a free ticket + rewards points which can be exchanged for various prizes. Furthermore, recently this faucet also offers tokens - and ABitBack uses a special ref link to earn extra money.

It seems that after the presented evidence, one of the mods decided to delete the entire thread instead of removing ref links.
