The title is something new, I don't know if you are aware of this type of scam. But I experienced it for the first time although I think it isn't a new technic.

A few days back I have received a PM on Telegram to help him. He referred me to a Bitcoin thread where an exchange locked his account with funds. I told him we are unable to help with this because the only exchange that would help you, exchange already tagged by forum DT members. We can't do anything except tagging them. But the use continues to asking help. In the end, I discover he is asking for financial help.

So, what you think? Isn't that an emotional scam attempt? Will you just help a newbie who created a scam accusation against an exchange? How we would know if really he is a victim? Who knows if that user also PM others for help?

I hadn't revealed his username and didn't tag him because I let him get the benefits of my suspension. It would possible he is a real victim and he needs financial help. But my common sense indicating that is an emotional scam attempt. I will suggest just avoid such situations because we are unaware of the real scene behind the story.

I don't think it is really new. I've seen many people do the same thing like begging for donations, creating fake stories about terminal illness, etc.

IMO just help them as usual (help them with the reports, guide them on how to make a police report if it is a local exchange, etc), but if he starts to PM and be annoying, ignore him. You're not at fault if you do this, and you're not obliged to respond either.

Whether it is emotional attempt or just lazy scam tactic, being spammed with request when you don't even have an obligation to do so is quite annoying.

Kinda hard to know the sincerity but we can't judge them that they are scheming a scam attempt. Sometime our guts and instinct saying this is just a scam but will discover they are telling the truth. Unless we investigate further their evidence or details about their scam accusation. Also if the exchange has history of complain maybe his telling the truth. Im not sure but this is a sensitive case that we should vividly analyze.

These scams are designed for emotional people. A beginner is most likely not who he claims to be. He acted purposefully, knowing who he was writing to. And hoped that his arrow would hit your heart. Are there really still people who are ready to just believe the first person they come across and help him financially? It's the Internet! There are a lot of scammers here. They hide behind anonymity, and can accuse not only the stock exchange of deception, but everyone in a row, covering their own faces, and keeping silent about their methods of deception.
This may all sound very harsh, but I am more than sure that anyone who really needs help is looking for the right resources. There, he can safely provide his real data and does not go to beg for cryptocurrency to hide his face.

~
If that newbie can provide enough evidences that he was really a victim, then it's a I don't think he is trying to scam. Probably he is very saddened that he was scammed. I don't know, there could be a lot of reasons why he is doing that, to scam others might be one of it but we can't say anything yet just because of that.

Yeah, you are right about it but if you are in a position to give him something. if you have any, please share or the right word to describe this is to donate to the fellow. all hands are not equal here. some of us here are whales holding different tokens that worth billions. i don't think it is wrong to help him no matter what. if you have give, if not forget it.

I think this person already knew, that lots of us knew they are a scam but since there are people who are nice and easily get pity on the exaggerated story about how they lost everything they are trying to target people with a soft heart and don't think people will scam them, and most of the time it works, so if they fail how times they will try it to other since they know some will fall for their scheme, this topic is good and will teach us that not all people who ask help are really in troublesome are just scammer who will take advantage of our good heart towards humanity, this is also the reason why people who really need help where ignore sometimes, we can't stop this but by investigating if he/she really needs help, will guide us who are legit and not.

In this particular case, it is almost impossible to determine if someone is telling the truth, or if the whole story was fabricated with the intention of making a profit. When I hear that communication through the Telegram is involved in everything, I really doubt the truth of the whole story - because that platform has long since become a paradise for scammers.

I'm sure there are those who really need help, but most of them will never seek help this way - and we should also be aware that scammers are constantly finding new methods. I stopped using Telegram a long time ago, time is too precious to waste it on unknown people trying to deceive us in one way or another.

there are steps the guy could take in order to try and take back his money on the exchange site instead of asking for financial help from strangers. it is hard to tell whether the guy is trying to scam you or not but I've seen these style of scamming a lot on the internet. if it were me being asked like that I'd ignore him and I'd think that he is trying to scam me by trying to make me feel bad about his situation.

It's hard to tell if the person asking for help is legit or not if he uses telegram, telegram is very notorious, so many scammers here who sweet talk you and offer something that is too good to be true, we have seen a lot of reports on this on the scam section, so I block all users who message me on telegram I don't want to waste my time on these people.

It’s really a common problem when we show some caring behaviour to strangler. It’s really very tough to determine the man is really a victim or a cheater who asking financial help one by one.

In this cases better to stop responding them or block their message. But yeah if he can prove is telling truth then it's the different mater.

I have experienced this kind of situation from a stranger. He first asked me for help saying his money was stuck on a gambling website. Since that gambling website is not in this forum, I could not help him to get his funds back. But he later started pushing me emotionally, taking his account with me to pay him and so that I could fix his account later. I tried to help him but he couldn't give enough evidence, I thought he wanted to scam me.

You are not alone who is getting this type of texts in Telegram. Actually they send messages to multiple scam busters to help them and they thought after having their PM forum DT members will tag the exchange without justification.

So, you think? Isn't that an emotional scam attempt? Will you just help a newbie who created a scam accusation against an exchange? How we would know if really he is a victim? Who knows if that user also PM others for help?
I have also got similar PM in the past and i prefer to check the accusation before giving reply. You just have to get that the user is telling truth or trying to spoil a specific platforms reputation. Thats all.
