According to Bitcoin News, the targeted airline Privatefly revealed this week that nearly 20% of the company's sales last month were paid in cryptocurrency, 13% of which used Bitcoin. Privatefly started accepting Bitcoin in early 2014. Since then, it has also supported payments in BCH, ETH and four U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoins: GUSD, USDC, PAX and BUSD

Flights are expensive, and therefore the fees don't matter.

I guess wealthy holders pay with crypto for convenience and not privacy because you can't stay anonymous flying through cross-borders and landing at a regular airport.

You might want to add a source. Tongue https://simpleflying.com/bitcoin-private-jet-payment/

Never really heard of this airline company, but if you think about it, cryptocurrency payments makes total sense for plane tickets. Going back from a foreign country? Instead of converting more of your local currency to the currency of that foreign country and pay enormous fees/cuts, use BTC instead!

Anything that is news in the direction of bitcoin normalization is good news, they not only accept crypto payments,  they also have a Bitcoin private jet membership program.

What is not clear to me when I read news like this is if bitcoin will become widespread as a means of payment. It seems it will succeed more (as it's already succeeding) as a store of value.

The news is a bit confusing, as it talks about accepting cryptocurrencies in general, but in terms of sales it refers to Bitcoin. It does not specify what percentage of those payments were made with other cryptocurrencies.

Well, that's another story of successful crypto adoption, But since PrivateFly was already accepting Bitcoin since 2014 it means that this company is an early believer in the cryptocurrency potentials, And based on the article the company is accepting multiple cryptocurrencies as a form of payment including Stablecoins but why USDT or Tether is not included in the list? Just asking.

I think people in general travel less since pandemic outbreak but if you must fly and you want to avoid all complicated procedures it's best to use some private jets.
Privatefly is not the only one who accepts Bitcoin, there is also Travelbybit backed by Binance for regular flights, Travala for booking flights and hotels and I am sure there are more of them.
This number will grow when Visa and Mastercard start fully accepting cryptocurrencies, and let's hope pandemic will subside by then.

I personally think this is nothing. If you hold BTC, then it is a simple question to use it to pay

I cant' agree with this. Paying with Bitcoin only has sense when we are in a bearish market.

Currently, we are in a very bullish market, and the numbers don't hold up. If the flight costs $20 000 and you pay it with Bitcoin, the dollar value could easily be $40 000 in a week.
