I do not know the policy of deleting a post. I am genuinely interest to setup a mining rig and I need information. How do I continue the following post and continue the conversation?

I am very new to learning mining. It's been only less than a week I am studying mining and considering to have a start very soon, I hope I will. But before ordering my first miner, I need to have some solid knowledge about possibly all basics that are related to mining.

I'd estimate this cost about £6000 GBP to install and setup (everything apart from the miners). That's around $8000 USD
$8000 USD to buy how many miners? Can you please specify the models (if that's the correct term) and their prices.

I live in a country where:

> Bitcoin has not legalized yet but I think I do not care much about it and I will manage it anyway.
> There are no ebay and amazon. I have talked to a local computer accessories importer and they confirmed that they can import miners power supply type machines for me from China if I manage to ship the miners machines to their depo in China.
> The temperature in summer is between 30°C and 40°C and in the winter 10°C to 15°C.
> The air has too much dust.
> Load shedding is a regular thing.
> Internet connection has irregularity like someday for few hours the internet will be down, sometimes internet will be slow and other time you are just using it fine.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

The moderator of the mining board has a very strict deleting post policy.

Until you are an experienced miner, I don't think you should post there.

I suggest you use another board, like Beginners & Help. There are people there who can help you in your first questions about mining.

I know that's true, but damn....isn't that a little bit harsh?  The mining section shouldn't be for experienced miners only IMO.

Anyway, hopefully if OP looks for help in the B&H section he'll get it.  I'm not sure what kind of advice is given in that section, but I've always thought it was a spammy-type section--and it seems to me that if he's got a question about mining, he ought to post it in the mining section, whether it's in an existing thread or one that he creates specifically for advice.  You could create your own thread, OP.  I would think it'd have a lower chance of being deleted, even if the mods are wicked strict.

I can't see any reports on it but it was likely considered off topic if you posted it in someone else's thread. Feel free to make your own or PM the mod of that sub board for further help.

I really wish we could give reasons when deleting posts as it would solve a lot of confusion and threads like these.

I don't think you should try to continue that conversation in that board, it's obvious the moderation policy in the mining section is somewhat stricter than other boards, for example, the B&H section, so imo, I think you can start new threads in B&H board inquiring on the aspect of mining you want to be clarified on, I've seen questions on mining been answered expertly by tech-savvy users who frequent the B&H section.

That way, your questions will be answered and your knowledge will develop, and thus you can then move over to the mining section and make posts that will not be considered off-topic, another good thing is, your thread could likely be moved from the B&H section to the mining board by a mod, which makes things much more easier for you.

I do not know the policy of deleting a post.
BITCOIN MINING INTRO & RULES OF THIS SUBFORUM - READ BEFORE POSTING

I am genuinely interest to setup a mining rig and I need information. How do I continue the following post and continue the conversation?
Mining support - This is for all questions regarding understanding the process of BITCOIN mining, and any issues with setting up hardware, configuration issues, stability issues, etc. Where hardware has a dedicated support thread by the manufacturer or maintainer of the hardware, there will be a post in the hardware subforum so please use that first. CPU, GPU and FPGA mining support will be moved to the altcoin mining section.
From the above-highlighted part, I think the appropriate board should be "Mining support [notify "danieleither" through PM, after you've created your own thread]" but before doing these steps, follow what hilariousandco suggested ["PM the mod of that sub"]...
Take note: You should probably PM "frodocooper [he/she is the one that usually is responsible for heavy moderations]" instead of gmaxwell.

SFR10, I am puzzled. It's really a lot of information to catch up.

So I ask frodocooper to guide me with my questions? To do that how do I find him.

That's what hilariousandco suggested so you can go ahead but he also suggested for you to create your own topic/thread which I think is more beneficial to you since other members can also reply to your question. Also since your topic will mostly be about an introduction to mining the most suitable board for it is the Mining Support sub-board inside Mining or the Beginners and Help section of the forum. I do agree with what the other people have commented about your post being deleted as a bit harsh since looking at what others have posted in the same topic what they have posted IMO is more off-topic compared to what you have posted.

The moderator of the mining board has a very strict deleting post policy.
Until you are an experienced miner, I don't think you should post there.
This is extremely problematic. How does one gain expertise in mining when you can't ask questions of all levels. This person is clearly asking questions and creating a discussion which is rather lacking in mining.

In these times we have to remember there will be a lot of new users considering mining no different than any price run and these questions at first glance might seem redundant or low value but that's where people start. The only thing that I can see justifying the outright deletion would b that they state it is not legal yet, but that could also be a language thing as in not regulated.

The problem with just outright deleting the comment in this instance is what if OP just wandered away and lost interest. The sole purpose of this forum is for the exchange of information of ideas and knowledge in relation to Bitcoin. There was a time when Frodo would have at least taken that comment and created the topic themselves for OP.
I really wish we could give reasons when deleting posts as it would solve a lot of confusion and threads like these.
That would be great.

@mining setup

Most of your questions can be answered by reading the pinned topics at the top of the page on these boards.
mining support mining hardware The list of hardware is out of date for what is current but the manufacturers are still the same and you can check their websites for info.

Spend a bit of time reading, if you still have questions ask away in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=76.0

Thank you. I was disconnected from the platform because of losing my interest from the hassle of asking questions on the boards I was not familiar.

I am still working on learning the things I need to have my first miner and also I am thinking to spend time on this forum too. It's clear that there are two sides of users. Some are very flexible to pass information and some are too strick that even they don't allow questions that someone needs to ask 😁

The mods are just strict when it comes to their section moderated as they don't want it to be bombarded with tons of newbie spammers who sometimes posts tons of questions about mining without even making their own effort to study it well. Hence, if you really are a newbie and wanted to learn more, I think you should consider studying it first by yourself as there are tons of knowledge to know before really engaging onto the Mining per se such as hash rates and power supplies. If ever you need a help with a certain knowledge you couldn't comprehend, then you can seek a thread in Mining Support.

I had to turn off notifications on my mining thread because I was getting lots of notifications and the responses would be deleted before I got there. I’m sure my mining thread has had hundreds of posts deleted from it. Even if I am able to respond in time their post will later be deleted. It’s gotten to the point where I rarely even check the thread because I know there won’t be any new discussions on it.

I was active in mining discussion, my posts were getting frequently deleted, the mods there are different breed.
They have a strong gang there and if you are outta the league don't bother wasting your time posting or contributing on that board as they see every other miner's posts outside their gang as inferior. Ignored that board far too long

OP if you need a mining advice join the discord board Bitcointalk party

I don't have discord so a little helpless. But guys I am making progress and slowly learning many things about bitcoin.

I have setup my first wallet yesterday. It's not an online wallet but a desktop software called Electrum. What is the best way to store my seed. I read to write it down to a paper which I did successfully. Is there any suggestions for me to make my wallet very secure?

It shouldn't be an online wallet ideally. Software wallets like electrum are safer and for extra security; use a hardware wallet which would be offline.

Writing it down is one way to do it. Some people go the extra mile of engraving it on danger proof materials which would be resistant to fires or floods. Having a backup in one or two secured locations is safe enough.

• Do not reveal you private keys,
• If you have a spare device or PC, you can download electrum on it, store your funds there and keep it airgapped,
• If you're storing higher amounts, get a hardware wallet,
• Dot reuse addresses,
• If you do not own your private key, you don't own the coins.

I can't see any reports on it but it was likely considered off topic if you posted it in someone else's thread. Feel free to make your own or PM the mod of that sub board for further help.

I really wish we could give reasons when deleting posts as it would solve a lot of confusion and threads like these.

This is a very good idea and theymos should implement it immediately. All you need is a extra mandatory field for the moderator which explain why the post is deleted and same message should come in the inbox of the user whos post is deleted.

This will help in two ways.

1- It will stop people creating threads and asking why their post got deleted.
2- When people know what mistake they did, they will not repeat the same mistake again. It will improve the posting habits and also the deletion of posts will decrease when people avoid same mistakes again n again.

What is airgapped here? I have few laptops that I use for work.

How do I use a seperate address?

What could be a danger proof material?

Which hardware wallet is most used to the people on this platform?
