Hey everyone

Was able to order a 5700xt, it should arrive in 3 days or so.

My current gaming desktop is an old i7 930 with a geforce 750ti, I am thinking of buying/building a new system to house the new 5700xt.

Can anyone help with a parts list I can start ordering for a solid build?  Was thinking amd but im flexible, just looking for a solid build.  Alot of the youtube builds are decent but the prices and items they link are all much higher than when the video was made, if anyone has a good build/parts list with current pricing id appreciate it.

I need everything but the GPU.

Id prefer to buy quality parts, of good build that have either a solid warranty or will last me a long time.  At least for the PSU and the motherboard.  The ram, I am hoping to get 2 sticks for dual channel mode.  Other than that my only other preference would be for future upgradeability of the motherboard (ie, i hope to put a 2nd gpu in there someday when prices/availability comes around so a big enough case and mobo for that)

This rig will be mainly for gaming, and will likely run at least 18 hours a day for the next 3 years+

Any and all efforts spent compiling lists will be greatly appreciated!!!!

well, glad no one wasted their time helping me build a system...

Ordered the 5700rx last night from staples, they emailed me right away confirming and took money from my account.

An hour later they emailed me saying order cancelled, they had 0 stock at the time my order went thru... they still havent refunded my bank account... should I hold out hope or???

Nobody has any stock. You can either pay exorbitant prices on EBay or check your local used classifieds for a private sale.

You need extremely good luck to get any VGA card for mining from retail store around this days, on MSRP. Scalpers using Shopping Bots , those bots way much faster than humans Smiley
You always can get VGA cards on eBay , Amazon .... from scalpers , but you have to pay a hefty price .

You said the videos on youtube consists of pc parts that are too costly and yet you said you want quality build, are you listening to yourself? Anyways, you only need a motherboard with a PCIe slot for gpu since you are going to mine with just one RX5700XT, to cut down the costs it's better to buy a used  complete PC, just insert the gpu and power it up it's not hard

RX5700XT isn't the only graphic card you can use for mining, if the card ain't available look into the ones that are available, RX6800XT, or 2x RX5500XT also we have Nvidia GPUS that are good for mining too, RTX3060ti or 3070 a

well flexible build i would prefer ryzen 5000 series with 16gb dual channel 3200 should be good for gaming, B550 or x570 for upgradeability like amd infinite cache for rx6000 gpu series

psu antec high current 1kw platinum should be enough for long run

sorry wasnt complaining of the high price of the parts from these youtube builder videos, it was rather that, by the time i find the video and click the link, the prices from the time of the video are much higher so I figured you guys/gals could help me identify any more up to date deals/pricing.

I definately am not sold on just using 1gpu, I just figured I would start there and get a 2nd one if/when prices/availability changes.

The 5700xt was just something that became available to buy 2 nights ago... they still havent refunded me the money so I am hoping it arrives tomorrow Cheesy

I have checked teh specs and the 6700xt seems faster in some ways, but slower in others, does anyone have any up to date testing they can link me, or any thoughts re: hashrate???  Kind of thinking the 5700xt will have the higher hash rate because of faster memory, but im not sure.

You might want to call staples and talk to someone. It’s not likely that you somehow stumbled upon a store that had stock just by chance. As for checking the hashrate/ profitability of the various cards, I like to use the NiceHash profitably calculator: https://www.nicehash.com/profitability-calculator/nvidia-rtx-3080. It’s not perfect but it’s not bad.

The smart buy right now is the Intel 10600KF.  $259 CAD on Newegg, and it's the equivalent (and a little faster in gaming) of the 5600x.  I have a B550/5600X, but if I was buying right now, I'd get the 10600KF as it's almost $400(!?) cheaper than the 5600x.  I'm no fanboy either way.  I had an i5 4670K and after a lot of years with Intel, I switched to the 3600 and now 5600X, but I paid $400 CAD for that.  I paid too much with the price of the 10600KF right now!  Or, better yet if it's just for mining, use old parts like I'm doing with my 5700XT.  I used an old case, opened it up and used my old Z97/4670K.  Cost me nothing.

For GPU, keep an eye on Memory Express (if you're in Canada).  I managed to get an EVGA XC3 Ultra 3070 by checking my local stock online several times a day. They are unaffected by bots as you must pay for and pick up your card in store, limit of one per customer per address.  I could have also got a few different 6800's, but went with the 3070 as it was $240 cheaper, and EVGA always makes solid cards.  I already had a Sapphire 5700XT card that I luckily bought new from Newegg for $500 CAD ($380USD) in November before the real stupidity took over.

Don't spend too much on a card right now as crypto prices are tanking.  This may be the end of the 'bull' run...

Well it will be a big disappointment if the bullrun is already over, that's too soon I believe, I've not even get half of my ROI back yet, and there is no how Ethereum mining profitability won't be affected, is memory express a website? Can you drop a link to the website for me? Thanks

It will be a big disappointment to a lot of people, especially those overpaying for multiple GPUs right now with long ROI's.  It seems to have stabilized around $1,500 USD/eth, which is still high, but a far cry from almost $2,100 a few days ago.  Musk manipulating the market again maybe.

Memory Express is a Canadian retailer.  If you're not in Canada and don't have one close to you, you're out of luck.  There is no online buying right now.  It's like Micro Centre in the US.
