Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Are you somewhat came from US? Bitfinex is somewhat playing this crypto hostage game for a while now, there are lots of users who experienced such this and can't read any of those got resolve.

Better to get in touch with them regarding this and try to make a way on how you can get/make this proof of funding docs.

If you have had coin sitting in your bitfinex account for 4-5 years, they probably want to be sure your account is not hacked. I would encourage you to work with their support to gain access to the coin you want to withdraw. If you can sign a message from an address you previously deposited from, it should increase their confidence that you are in fact the 'real' owner of the account, and not someone who successfully hacked the account.

I'm not in the USA.

I've been dealing with this for 1 month. If I were a hacker, wouldn't the owner of the account wake up in 1 month?

 * A detailed explanation of the sources of all funds deposited to Bitfinex. You will have to show how you used fiat funds to acquire cryptocurrency
 * A proof of source of funds confirming how the deposited funds were originally acquired. You will have to show employment documents or income statements showing your source of wealth to acquire cryptocurrency
 * International Passport (scan and "selfie) in high resolution
 * National ID / Driving License (scan and "selfie) in high resolution
 * Proof of Address (government issued or utility company)
You are free to seek independent legal opinion and take whatever action you feel is adequate at this time, as our position will not change.

If you continue to create new helpdesk support tickets, without responding adequately to our inquiry, we may be forced to restrict access to your account until such times the documents requested are provided.

Now they want these. Something is missing here. My grandfather's selfie. Their purpose is to extortion crypto money. Stay away.

Hello everyone, there has been no improvement in 2 months. It is thought-provoking that such a large site does not allow me to withdraw money.

That is really sad. Unfortunately the only people who should be able to help you are Bitfinex. You are always advised never to keep your funds long term in an exchange. This is one of the reasons. Not your keys, not your coins.

I have never used Bitfinex before but the only choice you have is pass their KYC verification or else you won't be able to receive your money again.

From your previous post above, you made mention of My grandfather's selfie

Something is missing here. My grandfather's selfie.

This is giving out the vibe that the account isn't yours. And it's weird cause you gave being regarding the account as my account.

If it isn't, let the rightful owner carry out the transaction.

If the account belongs to you, provide them with the documents they requested if the account is truly yours. If after providing the documents they keep preventing you from withdrawing your money, call them out on twitter:  https://twitter.com/bitfinex

By then, they will take you serious.

Damn, why isn't the authorities aren't doing a shit about this case if it was happening for awhile now, I would be livid if more people have got their money hostage and the authorities that should be the deterrent to this never bats an eye. I would suggest that OP should also file some case against this scum of company.

This is what happens when you keep or store your assets on custodial wallets.bitfnex.com is an exchange and not storage where you keep such a huge amount for years without using it, every exchange locks down the inactive account and if such account must be activated again the owner must verify proof of ownership via KYC and other means provided by the company. Another reason for locked accounts is using a VPN to access their service from restricted countries.

I'll give you a couple of three advices. Not your keys, not your coins. If you can't hold it, you don't own it. Don't invest more than you could afford to lose. You pretty much violated them all. On the top of that, bitfinex is a crap exchange. You should have tried binance or some other (relatively) better exchange but you still shouldn't put there big amounts.

I agree with you. If I had used an Electrum wallet instead of Bitfinex I wouldn't have had any problems.

When I opened this issue, I had $30,000 in my account, now it has decreased to $25,000. Even if Bitfinex let me withdraw it today, I've lost $5,000.

They really don't care how much you have lost in fiat value because the asset is in form of crypto. So to them, 1 BTC in Jan 2019 = 1 BTC today.

Was you account completely blocked?
If I were you, I would have tried to convert the BTC to USDT so as to avoid it from dropping in value during market price decline.

what a crap exchange!!!
