Hello,

I've been trying to reach a mod on how to delete this account, but I am unable to send PM's or start a new topic on a relevant board.

In the the other boards, it is mentioned that one is suppose to PM theymos to ask that their account be deleted, however I am unable to do that.  The email address listed on his profile doesn't work either.

I don't have any posts to delete, I don't use this account, please delete it.

Thank you,
.J.

Sorry to revive this topic, but I don't think opening a new thread makes sense.

I've also been trying to delete my account, but I don't have the relevant option as shown here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=help;page=profile.

I tried messaging theymos, but it blocks me from sending a PM because "my last posting was less than 360 seconds ago" although I never posted a single forum post or PM.

You can't delete your account on this forum. Just change your password to something you won,'t remember it and abandon it.

Maybe theymos doesn't enable to get a pm from newbie rank.
Anyway, you just made a post right now

@janggernaut: I guess those people that tried to delete their accounts had registered with their real emails, hence attempting to remove their social presence on this forum.

Another way is via a nuke, but that's not gonna end well for obvious reasons.

Q: Why do I get the "The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago." error when I haven't posted today?
A: Logging in, sending PMs, searching via the forum's built in search engine and reporting posts to a moderator will also be counted as posting and extend this limit back to 360 seconds. Don't worry: as your activity increases, the 360 second limit will decrease as well. Here you can see the algorithm how the posting limit is calculated based on your activity: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=237597.msg4131557#msg4131557
You probably performed one of the other actions mentioned above, that count towards the 360 seconds.

I never noticed that the help has a "delete this account" action described there (in the help). It’s not a current feature, and probably hasn’t been one for ages (I’m wondering if at all).

I figure that you want to delete another account (not the one you are posting from on this thread). If an Admin/Mod is not willing to delete it (which is unlikely), you can try to manually delete all the posts that you can (you won’t be able to delete all – i.e. thread openers), or edit the content to leave them blank. Note that there are people who scrape the forum’s posts, so there may still be a trace off-forum. If on the other hand you want to delete the newly created account, just leave it.

Note: Your post is a legit necro-bump, although there are more recent posts on Meta on the matter.

You can not. In the past, theymos changed username to Anonymous but he did not want to do it for a long time ago. See the quoted posts and related topics, to know your chance is zero.
As you can see here, I only change the username to "Anonymous" on request.

I'd like theymos' statement on this rather than speculations.
Judging by other threads here, and looking at the help section, it should be technically possible. Heck over at Litecointalk you can do it yourself, and it looks like the same forum software.

He's said before he doesn't do it anymore.

It's not possible. Just abandon it.

Even if your account fortunately to be deleted, data is still available on the Internet with
Loyce.club
Ninjastic.space
and the internal database of the forum.

Did you use your real account to PM theymos? Did you get that message when you sent a PM to theymos with your newbie account?

Might be. But as you can see OP's accounts is changed password recently and woke up from long period activity, as his email also hidden, so i don't think he scared from his real email got notified by other user.
