The riser interface is not USB3.0 it uses the connectors and cables but is not usb.. so you want a card more like this... https://www.amazon.com/YIYIYI-Expansion-Converter-Adatper-Bitcoin/dp/B08TWBDNPP/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=YIYIYI&qid=1614537907&sr=8-1This will work with risers to gpus. Note that your cpu pcie lanes, chipset, other intefaces turned on in bios can all affect how many gpus you can actually get to recognize. If your bios has above 4g decoding then chances are good you can run more.... Its a try and see thing most of the time. But usb3.0 plugged into a riser would present problems as the usb 3.0 is not compatible and carries voltage where risrs using usb connector/cables pass no voltages only data. Its just usb connectors and cables are cheap and reliable so used for this application also.

Running that much GPUS from a single PCIe slot? Naa I'd rather buy another motherboard or get three or four of this connector and use two/two cards on each connector, there are motherboards with 16x gpu space onboard though

Yeah thats same multiplexer. And they are inexpensive. Recently ive had to use several on rig where gpu0 had to be in slot but the other gpu slots where blocked. i just toss it into an unobstructed slot and plug in the gpus on risers. Ive had a cou0le boards that wouldnt go beyond 6 gpus but others do...depends on chipset / cpu pcie lanes / m.2 utilized ports etc. Good luck and let us know if it works for ya.

I'm planning to buy 3 of them and to use 3 cards max on each, but first I need to know if they would work.

Thanks miner29, I've just ordered them. I'll let you know if they work. Unfortunatelly, I don't know if I can or how to give you merit.

Thanks miner29, I've just ordered them. I'll let you know if they work. Unfortunatelly, I don't know if I can or how to give you merit. When i have chained them off each other ive stepped up to a better multiplexer chip. SQRL X2G is very good chip but way more exspensive. But if you are going to run just one in a slot not chaining one off the other then the cheaper option is fine. I suggest starting with one and adding a gpu at a time and get it running. This way you can figure out what the limit is. No worries on the merit man. Just hope it helps ya. One miner to another. 👍

They have arrived today, and they work. So now, my mb, which has only 6 pcie slots, works with 12 cards. Thanks again @miner29!!

Excellent...some folks dont understand x1 is good for almost every gpu mining application. The only one i know its not great for is the lolminer Super Zombie Mode for 4gb card in x16 slot (or even x8). And that situation will eventually go away. And doing that little plex card is way cheaper than adding a whole second rig. Hash on 👍

The cpu is i3, they are all 3060ti or 3070s. I've got 2 multiplier with 4 ports each, to see if they work, and today I've ordered another 2, because I'd like to use 1 multiplier for 2 cards, to make it last longer.

Using all 4 ports doesnt cause any issue for the plex chip its designed to do it. You will eventually run out of PCIE lanes so dont think you will just keep adding and adding. There are some chipset limitations as well. But 12-13 seems doable.....maybe more depends what else is enabled. M.2 ports can use up lanes..and chipset and implementations can affect this. But the little splitter is quite affordable. Just make sure to get the one with heat sink as the plx chip does generate heat and is sensative to it. The nicer ones i referenced above have actual fans on the plx chip and its a much more expensive and capable plx chip.
PCIE is quite impressive when you consider all that it handles....effortlessly.
Ive yet to have a plx fail on me. I have had a doa but not one actually fail from use....there arent any moving parts on it and silicon doesnt wear out..again no moving parts.

lol its pcie to usb 3.0 not pcie multiplier for pcie, you cannot use this for pcie riser, you're wrong bought this stuff, pcie multiplier quite expensive around 1/3 from mobo that has 12 pcie, so i think better you sell the mobo and buy new one with 12+ pcie and not causing any problem in the future

So, I imagine that you insert the multiplier in the PCI "long" slot that does carry 16x ?

Currently I have 2 multipliers, inserted in the last 2 slots, they are short slots.

Works in any pcie slot even x1 shorties....

Go look at 12 gpu mining board. Now if available most are $300+ The little plx is $20-30 bepending on where tou get it from. Oh and they work...probably outta look at that too. The only part you got right was the USB3.0 part but i corrected OP and advised him on that as well. Anyways i wont rag on ya...hell ive skipped through threads and made a heel of myselfe before as well 😂

I received them yesterday, but windows isn't recognizing them. It does appear the "triangle" in the device panel. I am trying to find the driver over the net with no luck.
Can someone that is successfully using the multiplier tell me the name of the driver he is sing ?
