Tim Draper was a guest at "The Unstoppable Podcast Episode 15", and he was ask what he thinks will be the next Fortune 100 to invest in bitcoin, and he blurted out Netflix under Reed Hastings, who he said is a very innovative guy. So there is a possibility that he might be looking at BTC to hedge their reserve assets.

Go forward 29:00, what are your thoughts about it? Will Netflix be the next one to hedge balance sheet to bitcoin?

Yes, it is also available on cointelegraph:https://cointelegraph.com/news/netflix-might-be-next-fortune-100-firm-to-buy-bitcoin-tim-draper Thank you very much for bringing it and expanding it, since Tim Draper is a character who is widely accepted for being a great investor and who believes in the Bitcoin market, if Netflix decides to make this type of investment and so publishes, I think we could have another great pump for the market, not only because of the amount that it will buy, but because of what Netflix represents for the world, and as it says in the article, Amazon would have to accept it. , which, I think like Tim, Amazon will have to integrate Bitcoin to its platform, it cannot be left behind.

After saying that, many articles have come to publish what he has said. Who knows? they may come into a surprise or there's really an actual source that he had talked to directly from Netflix and has mentioned about it.

This article also says that Tim is speculating that Amazon might also be the next company to accept bitcoin payments directly. Since they've already added AWS ETH blockchain on their service, there's a possibility that they'll accept bitcoin soon, he said.

Watching the video, Tim only predicted those particular scenario that's gonna be happening with Netflix that would tend to fall. Unknowingly, he's not yet sure about it but there's a huge possibility of hedging huge amount of holdings. Basically, if there's predictions people would tend to follow every footsteps then more articles and news comes in and eventually price declines slowly.

Now that Tesla has made over a billion dollars from their cash, I imagine other treasurers for big companies will be taking note.  It takes time for meetings and approvals to do something like put all your cash into BTC, but I am guessing lots of those conversations will be had in the next 3 months.  This summer is beginning to look like a perfect storm is approaching.  I don't know if Netflix will be next or not, but they are certainly a good candidate given they raised a ton of cash and need to generate revenue to offset their massive spending on content creation.

Personally, I'd keep my eye on Apple.  They're looking to go head to head with Tesla in the car space in the next few years and have the cash to spare to eliminate Tesla's Bitcoin investment as a competitor's edge.  I would imagine a 10 billion dollar investment into Bitcoin right before accepting it as payment for iPhones and including it into the iOS wallet infrastructure would have a pretty amazing effect on the price of BTC.  Something like this could very well carry us well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars per Bitcoin and I would argue that Bitcoin's high fees make it a much better payment alternative when buying an iPhone or or electric vehicle than making payment for a monthly content subscription.

We know that other companies will want to do something similar to what tesla did but they they need to do before they announce it or they are going to raise the price an affect themselves in the process so I really think the tech giants have all the incentive to invest in bitcoin. After all the people on top of those companies understand very well the value of innovation and even if I see them creating their own cryptocurrencies I think they will be interested in investing in bitcoin as well.

Virus is spreading then. After a lot of companies starting to put Bitcoin on their balance sheet, some will follow, after what Tesla did.
I will not be surprise if Netflix will start buying Bitcoin.
Tesla total assets is $52b while Netflix is still $39b, very small gap.

Not sure if we should take that call any seriously, because unless you literally have inside knowledge(you're with Coinbase or Gemini or something) on which specific companies are having heavy interest in bitcoin, it's pretty much like throwing darts on a dart board with company names in it.

Obviously, Tim is just speculating, but he specifically mentioned Netflix because of the CEO, maybe he was close to him, or know him personality. So nothing is wrong here, of course, we wanted Fortune top 100 or at least half of them see bitcoin differently, like Elon Musk or other billionaires out there. So we will see.

Tim is pro-bitcoin, so he will clearly say or at least will shill for Bitcoin, hope he is right though, we need to see more companies looking at bitcoin as a hedge to their profits and used it to make more money.

I agree, this should be taken with a grain of salt. Tim after all is a bagholder of BTC ever since, he also told that his family is onto bitcoin, so he will tell positive things about it, including speculating that Netflix is going to be the next big companies to involved themselves into bitcoin.

So I wouldn't take this news or at least it won't have a positive impact to the price. Maybe Netflix management heard this already, but we are not sure if they are on board with bitcoin or crypto at this point. Their line of business is very different.

Based on the article, it looks to be mostly speculative with no statements yet from Reed Hastings himself so we shouldn't be too excited. However, this is very optimistic and the fact that Amazon has already added Etherium to their Managed Blockchain is exciting. Since paypal will soon be launching crypto merchant payments, it wont be crazy to see Amazon and Netflix to do the same.

I also have my eyes on Apple who may be trying to be lowkey for now. There has been rumors if implementations of crypto on Apple pay or maybe an investment on bitcoin like what Tesla did but for now they are focused on the Apple car. If they will go head-to-head against Tesla, they may offer BTC as a payment option as well as they compete against them.

Your business industry doesn't really need to be in line with Bitcoin to be able to take advantage of it though. MicroStrategy's and Tesla's business doesn't have anything to do with bitcoin but yet they allocated some of their cash into bitcoin because of it's hedge characteristic.

The availability and adoption of Netflix are high now, knowing that many people are better off streaming instead of buying movie tickets online or something. They invented the streaming services, and they have destroyed the stores in which you would purchase hard copy movies. I remember reading an article about Netflix annihilating Blockbuster. So whatever their decision is would be wise. And if that decision is hedging a portion of their funds to BTC. They would increase their revenues knowing that they are the top streaming service. They can increase their valuation just by doing that.

That is if the people behind the company is looking at something to hedge their profit or not. So far we haven't heard from anyone, except Tesla who see BTC as their reserve assets to hold on their balance sheet as Draper insist. And it will be a long process before the company are going to approve it, so it's not going to be an overnight decision. Board members, CEO and other top management really needs to agree first before becoming the next "one to fall" to BTC, so I will be skeptical first.

There's nothing wrong with being skeptical about it but imagine this scenario going on right now.

One of the richest men in the world, Elon Musk, has invested the cash balance that his company, Tesla, of $1.5B in BTC. That's 15% of the cash reserves of Tesla and he invested in BTC and he has already made a profit, in value, of his investment. That's going to make some top CEO's turn some heads and we all know that Elon is looking at the future and he wouldn't stop innovating for sure.

This event probably has caused most CEOs to think about their next move is and if he/she will follow in this trend. We are still too early in the game. Institutions are coming in.

They can increase their valuation just by doing that.

With the increased competition from Amazon, Disney and whoever else is coming, with quite a significant part of the potential income not coming in because of illegal accounts and account sharing, I think that if they make their move quick enough, Bitcoin can become their safety net between a "happy life" and really big problems.
In the same way Tesla, as big as it is, didn't really have profit yet from selling cars and Bitcoin came so very handy, I think that Netflix is basically in a quite similar situation and may profit in the same way.
I think that this could have been Tim Draper's logic and I tend to agree with it. I don't know if Netflix board is on the same page though  Grin

The most normal thing is that they will all fall little by little, since this is not a question of a crazy investment. It is rather the best way to protect against massive central bank printing. To hold cash for longer than a year is to be willing to lose money. Obviously, you have to have some cash. But we will see how little by little, they start buying small amounts of Bitcoin and then more and more companies buy more and more amounts.

why not. netflix came out to be a playful and creative company. it's not going to be surprising for Netflix to have an option which BTC users can pay for a subscription. it's a very unpredictable turn of events which netflix came out to digitalize everything instead when the other side of the world are still building cinemas. CDs and storage had become outdated because of netflix.

Tim Draper was a guest The Unstoppable Podcast Episode 15, and he was ask what he thinks will be the next Fortune 100 to invest in bitcoin, and he blurted out Netflix under Reed Hastings, who he said is a very innovative guy. So there is a possibility that he might be looking at BTC to hedge their reserve assets.
~snip~

Watching the video, Tim only predicted those particular scenario that's gonna be happening with Netflix that would tend to fall.

~snip~

Obviously, Tim is just speculating, but he specifically mentioned Netflix because of the CEO, maybe he was close to him, or know him personality. So nothing is wrong here, of course, we wanted Fortune top 100 or at least half of them see bitcoin differently, like Elon Musk or other billionaires out there. So we will see.

Tim is pro-bitcoin, so he will clearly say or at least will shill for Bitcoin, hope he is right though, we need to see more companies looking at bitcoin as a hedge to their profits and used it to make more money.

It's now clear for us that these whales who released negative testimonies has a hidden plans on their asset, and desires to buy cheaper price when it declines. Billionaires could pay more interview sessions just to deceive every interested audience, that's why they wouldn't stop pretending. They are more wiser on that level of understanding, because of a mindset that small investors go into panic. But, I don't think they'd easily can manipulate the market easily while demand still catching up after last corrections.

Ugh, I've been seeing a lot of NEtflix videos lately on my facebook, supposedly the CEO is such a nice guy with progressive leadership and what not. Saying how they have no expense policy cause people spend as much as they need, I'm like, yeah right my ass haha;)

Anyway, Netflix BTC? Hope they start paying employees in Bitcoin rather!

Why not believe this scenario ? Netflix is the most popular and Used Movie place on earth now and Bitcoin is the most popular currency in our days now.

So why not Will netflix consider this opportunity ?

And besides I see no wrong if this will come soon.

Netflix could really be into it but we couldn't be so sure about it too unless they would make an anouncement.
But if it would happen maybe they would start to accept crypto payment directly on their platform.
Besides I don't see anything wrong about it there are so many big companies jumping into Bitcoin nowadays so they might really be the next.

Imagine that same scenario, but also understanding that in most companies, you have a whole board of directors making collective decisions like that (not a single guy).

Imagine in 2017, you maybe had one or two directors mention Bitcoin, and then the rest veto-ing it out. Or you had none at all. But the fact that Micro and Tesla and others are doing this means that majority of decisionmakers already voted for it.

Imagine as you say now other companies and CEOs turning heads and asking the others to take a vote. They may not win now, as many didn't in 2017, but the seeds will have been sown.

And every year, when company profits tell them what they told MicroStrategy (that they lost value because their dollars are worth less), they'll be looking for value protection long term.

Enter Bitcoin.

This sounds like pure speculation if you ask me (and yeah, I get that this is the section for that), and it doesn't seem like TD has any real reason to think that Netflix is going to invest in bitcoin.  But who knows, he might know something the rest of us don't.

For whatever reason I don't see this trend of corporations purchasing bitcoin as an investment/cash alternative as a long-lasting one, especially if bitcoin doesn't maintain its value somewhere around $50k.  It's just too risky an asset for a public company to do that, and frankly I'm surprised that there haven't been concerns voiced by shareholders of MSTR or Tesla stock about those companies buying bitcoin.

But hey, I could be 100% wrong.  If this trend does hold up, I'd expect bitcoin to shoot to the moon--and quickly, too.

The fact is that netflix with its statement can greatly encourage the cryptocurrency market, especially if the company not only accepts payments for content in cryptocurrencies, but also tries to invest in Bitcoin, following the latest trend of quite popular companies. But to date, there is still no identification from an official source to be sure of this.

People could believe whatever they want to believe, but the reality is that we are in a situation where if we do not know which company will invest first, like that company comes out and says they are buying it, that type of knowledge, that means we are just speculating.

I believe netflix will certainly buy bitcoin eventually, there is no scenario where netflix never buys any bitcoin at all but just because I think netflix will buy bitcoin does that mean I believe netflix will buy bitcoin as the first fortune 100 company? They may not be the next, they might be second, they might be 5th but they will eventually get it.

The only thing that is arguable here is the fact that they may not be the first one, otherwise they are going to definitely buy some for sure without a doubt. Of course that is going to be something good for us because we are arguing about which one will be next, not "if" but "when" which is awesome.

If there's some sort of idea or info about it people speculate right away, there are some who take this as an early sign placing
thier money on it and start following the potentials.

We don't know for sure if this would happened but we can's also take anything out, the potential still high for this kind of things
to happened, netflix might be a big addition if they'll show participation.

Yes, it's just speculation coming from Tim Draper and we'll never know if he's saying that with basis or it's just his thought because he knows well Reed more than us.

Those are very much exciting news that we have to wait until they finally say that it's official that they've added bitcoin into their portfolio. Or, they have adopted bitcoin and added it to their payment option.

They are doing well right now. I assume that under the current leadership, there might be some talks about hedging some assets into bitcoin but I don't think that it will get that far, nothing wrong with having a safety net but the board members might not agree in doing that, there aren't a lot of progressive minds in the table.

Kinda Off Topic but Does YouTube had already accepting or Having Bitcoin ? Because aside from Netflix it is YouTube is one of the biggest company in terms of Video and Movie company and still ranking Number 1 worldwide.
I think this will bring multiple impact in our community if YouTube and Netflix will be on the fall.
But I want to first congratulate the market once Tim Draper finally decide and broadcast His Bitcoin or even other crypto investing .

While this would be the normal thing to do we need to understand that the longer those businesses hesitate to enter this market the more expensive it will become and the longer they expose their fiat to begin devalued by governments all around the world, this phenomenon is why crises begin kind of slow and then something happens that accelerates dramatically the turn of events, and I think something similar could happen here as businesses try to use bitcoin as a hedge against inflation.

Only your fiat is insured, your Bitcoin is not.
It’s just the same reason you don’t have all your money stuffed under your mattress....

Even though there is currently a trend for large companies investing in Bitcoin, I am not sure Netflix will invest in Bitcoin in the near future.
Moreover, the price of Bitcoin is very volatile nowadays, if we compare it to TESLA which has invested in Bitcoin, it is because of the influence of
Elon Musk. So not all big companies will invest in Bitcoin, it will still take much longer for Bitcoin to gain the trust of a big company like Netflix.
Maybe Tim Draper said that because he is indeed a Bitcoin supporter, and hopes Netflix will join the investment in Bitcoin.

big companies are coming to crypto and I'm sure they are aware that USD value is falling and if they are open to suggestions they will eventually look at cryptocurrency particularly BTC. netflix is running a business which they will decide base on what is good for the company to profit, if they see BTC as the future and that they can benefit through it then they'd go for it.

Tim Draper was a guest at "The Unstoppable Podcast Episode 15", and he was ask what he thinks will be the next Fortune 100 to invest in bitcoin, and he blurted out Netflix under Reed Hastings, who he said is a very innovative guy. So there is a possibility that he might be looking at BTC to hedge their reserve assets.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6nSWFRFTJM

Go forward 29:00, what are your thoughts about it? Will Netflix be the next one to hedge balance sheet to bitcoin?

Sooner or later we will see all the Fortune 100 companies will hedge their balance sheet to bitcoins. When these companies sees the advantage of this, they all will enter in bitcoin with some percentage of funds. This will give a big boost and fomo and drive the price to another level.

why not. netflix came out to be a playful and creative company. it's not going to be surprising for Netflix to have an option which BTC users can pay for a subscription. it's a very unpredictable turn of events which netflix came out to digitalize everything instead when the other side of the world are still building cinemas. CDs and storage had become outdated because of netflix.

My family is a long time Netflix subscriber, in case they invest and accept Bitcoin or any other Cryptocurrency it's going to be a piece of welcome news,  Netflix has a huge number of subscribers that's another big leap for Bitcoin, but we need a full confirmation that they are indeed going to adopt and invest in Cryptocurrency.

There is a big difference between accepting bitcoin as a payment option and buying bitcoin. The topic here is that netflix is a company that gets insane amount of money from subscriptions and they do spend some back into production which is why I think they do not have all that money in cash, but this is a company that doesn't really have inventory like other companies at hand, all the inventory they have is the movies and tv shows that they have and they pay money on that, surely it takes a considerable amount of their money but meanwhile they also have some cash aside for future productions as well.

So the question is, will they ever put some of that cash reserves into bitcoin? If they do that, and if they do that monthly, we are talking about a lot of money, after all they have one of the biggest cash reserves in any company and they are growing it, it is going to be incredible.

I wouldn't count on that, that adding bitcoin as a payment would have a significant impact on the number of Netflix subscribers.

I mean, I've been Netflix subscriber for years (and very satisfied one for that matter) and I would certainly welcomed that option, but with the price of bitcoin transaction relative to the price of monthly subscription, I am not sure that many would suddenly start paying Netflix just because they can, let alone those who for whatever reason never subscribed to Netflix before.

If they allow for longer subscription periods then bitcoin could become an option to pay for this service, however I agree that I do not think this will increase the business of Netflix by that much, after all while many people are using their bitcoin to buy what they need it is not as if people are in any rush to spend their bitcoin now, while a Netflix subscription is not going to dramatically change your holdings the more bitcoin you spend the less you have and the less profits you can get once the market resumes its bull run.

I respect Tim Draper because he has always been positive when it comes to BTC, especially in times when many said it was only a matter of time before BTC would disappear and be worth $0. When it comes to Netflix, it is possible that TD has some insider information or has heard something given that it moves in circles of very rich and influential people.

I know some are speculating that the next big fish in the crypto sea will be Amazon or Apple, which is not impossible - but I don't think it will go so easily with Apple where one of the biggest shareholders is the biggest skeptic when it comes to BTC (Warren Buffett). On the other hand, I don't know what Bezos thinks about everything, but I know that he never has enough money and that he will not miss any opportunity that can bring him profit.

It's only a matter of time before everyone invests in BTC, but does it matter at all? I would rather have that same BTC bought by ordinary people - but there is no way we can escape the rich becoming even richer and the poor even poorer.

We will never know. But Tim Draper's prediction must have some reasons. I think it is not even Tim Draper alone who believes that sooner rather than later Netflix will also be converting some cash into Bitcoin. Reed Hastings must have already heard and known Bitcoin for quite some time. I guess it is already being carefully studied as of the moment.

Whoever falls next won't matter. After all, all of them will fall in due time.

We will never know. But Tim Draper's prediction must have some reasons.

The man predicted in 2014 that BTC would reach at least $10k in the next 3 years, and in 2018 he said he expected $250k by the end of 2022. In his interviews, he always emphasized that Bitcoin is something that everyone will want and will become more sought after than gold. He is one of those who can definitely see how things will develop in the future, and so far this has proven to be correct - and in a little less than 2 years it is not impossible to reach even $250k.

“I’m thinking $250,000 a bitcoin by 2022,” said Draper. “Believe it. They’re going to think you’re crazy, but believe it. It’s happening and it’s going to be awesome!” Draper, a founding partner in Draper Associates, made the prediction on April 12, 2018, at the Block (Chain) Party at Draper University in San Mateo, California.

My thinking is the same, it is only a matter of time and the unknown is when.

The US government are pressing ahead to print another $1.9 Trillion so
the dollar is being weakened again so there will be more of a reason to
move wealth to Bitcoin.

We cannot pick and choose who comes and goes into Bitcoin but its a
pity that more ordinary people havent and wont embrace Bitcoins potential.

We cannot pick and choose who comes and goes into Bitcoin but its a
pity that more ordinary people havent and wont embrace Bitcoins potential.
Two reasons are volatility and uneducated on how Bitcoin works, many people still consider Bitcoin as a Ponzi scheme and they all thought that Bitcoin is a company, the media have portrayed Bitcoin as a form of Ponzi scheme or MLM, and the masses believed it because they cannot comprehend the technology behind it.

If it is true that Netflix will invest in Bitcoin, this will have a huge impact on the world of cryptocurrency. Because as we know Netflix is the largest
digital streaming media service provider in the world, with more than 169 million users, this will send Bitcoin's price skyrocketing even more.
I was getting impatient waiting for this to come true. Moreover, many of the predictions made by the Draper Team are quite accurate, hopefully
his prediction this time is also correct.

This is a whale who tries to spread an attempt of taking down bitcoin in order to deceive us through his statements. Despite of how progressive is the bitcoin price these days, his mindset is to create an aggressive predictions without any strong support. Unfortunately, that doesn't coincide of the latest updates because price continues to rise.

I don't really see why Netflix would have any interest in holding bitcoin in their reserves. Maybe if they start accepting it through PayPal this could be the case, but there are thousands of companies that use PayPal and so far none of them are getting into bitcoin for this reason.

Accept the fact or reality that there are people who doesnt really know the basics and trying to conclude things out without any basis which is just sad to think  that they are really
just missing out some good opportunity if they had just known the truth behind.

In the talks about Netflix accepting bitcoin then i dont see for them not to do so but depending if the said company will really be seeing the positive side of things
of accepting bitcoin rather than on going to negative. Putting up reserves or integration into its service would always be a good thing.

Whoever falls next won't matter. After all, all of them will fall in due time.

It's only a matter of time, big names like PayPal and Elon Musk's Tesla are already in, it's hard to ignore that, they will regret not getting in early, big names do not make a mistake they know the step that they are going to make when investing, so small players should follow and reap the profit, we can like this to a domino effect where companies and institutions are falling one by one, this is a technology that will go on and they cannot ignore it.

It is interesting to think about how many of those are already in, when Elon announced that he was in bitcoin he did it after the fact, after he had bought bitcoin for a cheaper price, the news made the price go up but who else is doing the same as Elon? I am sure there are many businesses that decided to put some part of their portfolio in bitcoin just to make sure they do not lose everything if the government losses control of the economy as it seems to be the case already.
